This doesn't really change much cause most automatons only have light armor penetration and the ones that don't just so happen to be the big ones

All trooper variants and devastator blasters are light pen, even the shield devastators have light pen on machinegun fire

Obviously the rockets from rocket devastators are anti-tank

What's funny is that the normal striders are medium pen, but they use bigger guns anyways

And anything above normal units makes sense to be able to damage the tank

Another funny thing is how every automaton unit which has a melee attack can damage the tank by punching it, except for the normal troppers. That includes berserkers cause their chainsaws have medium penetration

But this is in line with our melee weapons being medium pen

And yes, I'm only talking about automatons because they are the only faction that are an actual threat to the bastion

Ok so with Heavy armor

Bastion would become immune to all clanker melee attacks, some hulk primary weapons, war strider indirect hits and gunships

You know what? I want helldivers to use the same system, heavy armor should give you medium armor

And medium/light just resistance

So maybe it becomes a threat to exos and tanks

If they bumped the tank to heavy

Also i would guess if heavy gives medium

Medium could give light

Which would cut light pen enemy damage in half iirc
