i would say figure out which enemy type gives you the most trouble and use a weapon that does well against them

but it's not that great against the overseers

Voteless, flesh mobs, overseers can be killed with light pen weapons
tripods with med pen if you shoot the leg joints
interlopers (strafing run mfs) also require med pen to be shot down

leviathan, anti tank in the fins and then heavy pen weapons will work on exposed flesh

just keep moving and they rarely kill you

They're the whole reason I pick up heavy MG with me, recoiless takes 2 universal resets to reload, EAT only has 2 shots, commando can shoot 4 times but requires 2 shots to drop one hulk so its fucking less usefull cause of longer cooldown, railgun is skill issue on my part

meanwhile heavy mg when you aim at general direction of their eye drops them SO QUICKLY its unreal

you dont even have to finish the mission, just play solo (invite only), farm credits on trivial by visiting all the POIs and diamond marked locations, then return to ship once you explored everything, doesn't effect anybody else if your solo and just do it on a shitted bug planet that dont matter to nobdy, usually a desert one or one with a normally flat geometry, nothing with bigass walls and mountains everywhere

all finishing the mission does is give you whatever samps you picked up, some req and the tiniest bit of medals, and 1 measly progress point towards liberating the planet
if you want req, samps, medals, or to contribute to liberation, you'd be doing it on a much higher diff (6-8) and completing the mission anyway, so farming SC by solo dropping onto a worthless planet on trivial, getting all the pickups, then returning to ship and repeating the process doesn't effect anything

It has never had a really helpful effect on bugs since its inception (which makes sense) but that’s where the majority of players spent their time for over a year, on automatons the volume of fire is usually what kills you anyway so after being sprayed and killed through smoke against them the first few times it’s no wonder no one bothers with smoke

Especially since the cool downs for a non lethal smoke stratagem are the same or higher than lethal ones

and since gas is an infinitely more valuable asset for the purpose of not being shot at/attacked
