So, the main reason why I use melee weapons so much now is that I noticed how before they were introduced I wasn't really using my sidearms anyway, so the secondary slot could as well be empty to me

The lance does however help me from time to time on bots, plus it feels cool

Ironically, I've had the least amount of success with melee weapons on bugs

He's right, on paper I see what you mean but there are almost zero situations where meleeing bugs wont get you killed or atleast wont waste your time. They just don't die fast enough and instantly swarm you

Bots are surprisingly flimsy and most can't do anything up close when stunned so in a pinch you can pick off stragglers

And you can do that with bugs too technically but only with the little guys AND bugs tend to be higher density with fewers strays

Axe, stun baton and the sword are good at clearing swarms, with the baton also being able to fight bigger stuff but it lacks the range and damage required to make it safe enough to use

The lance can deal with higher threat enemies but is worse at clearing groups

The lance can and will one tap berserkers, devastators, warriors and sometimes even brood commanders

Melee weapons also fit my playstyle very well since, as I said previously, I rarely ever used my sidearms except for situations when the enemies got too close and reloading the primary would take too long to defend myself

Guess what works in that scenario - a melee weapon

Infinite ammo and massive chad points bonus, plus it's very effective if you know how to use it

Once the undesirables are gone you can reload your gun and carry on

On squids the melee weapons are good for clearing the voteless without wasting resources

its an amazing weapon now with the buffs and customized for more ergonomics. still not terribly practical for solo use but in a squad where you got some backup so you can utilize it fully without interruption it can dish out damage almost like a strategem

been running eruptor + airburst rocket on bots and just blowing the shit out of anything that dares pop up. it's a high risk build but i can clear the field without needing to call in any strategems
