i can see your argument, as ive used flamethrower for a while. but my justification is as follows:

• it leads to friendly fire incidents (albeit not very common)
• vs chargers and bile titans (what i used the thrower for) it is completely outclassed by EAT

i like it. you get 2 shots every 1 minute, it takes up a secondary slot (but not a backpack), you can 1 hit a charger in the face, and 1-2 hit a bile titan if you are lucky and can aim well

pair that up with an orbital railgun, you can wombo combo a titan in about 5 seconds

that backpack slot can buy you a rover or a shield, depending what you are facing

It doesn't get brought around fairly often due to limited use cases but in the specific scenarios where it shines best, it is very much undisputed.

against automatons the limited use cases for it gets narrowed down even further due to enemy abilities to shoot it down and Tesla itself not having long range to zap, often meaning that you need to plant it in places where sightlines are broken, and enemies have to get close to shoot you or the Tesla which forces them to get within its range.

Against bugs though it is an extremely strong anti-swarm area denial, effectively lasting for the entire duration it's alive (it doesn't have a limited ammo), great to shutdown a path they may be coming from, though also shutting it down from allowing you to pass either. It can solo pretty much multiple breaches by itself, but does falter eventually when extremely swarmed by Brood commanders. Bile Spewer doesn't seem to target it as far as I'm concerned, though titans does. And for obvious reason chargers too

In the current TCS mission, mines and tesla have elevated priority in that they are pretty damn good stratagems to bring to more easily secure the silo from being overwhelmed

And buy you precious time to get the silo booting up

In eradication they can also be great though to a lesser effect as the targets enemies will path to is you, and as a result there's no defined path to put mines down to deny pathing

With the premium armor Tesla towers no longer one shot, as you instead need to be hit 5 times to die, longer if you stim yourself right before the 5th zap

Though I'm not fully certain what's the use case could be for outside allowing you to temporarily be within the Tesla operating range

Especially considering the Tesla can and will absolutely murder your limbs, or torso, leading to you bleed

But yeah I'm not sure what happened but hunters somehow dropped the list slightly for one of my most hated bug enemies
