What kinda equipment do you need to get good, consistent and flat shading if you're using traditional?
With pencil: you get these gaps where the pencil misses and going over them will leave patches darker.
With pen: Similar deal, going over all these gaps will just cause excess ink to sink through the page, fucking up consequent pages below them (if there are any)

Minimalist sketching is what I'd call it but yea. As far as proportion practice, maybe start with black and white photography sketches. That way you aren't focusing on color shading and can focus on dimensions and negative or positive space with lighting
