Let's assume there would be a group of artists willing to create portraits. So not a single person would need to draw 150 images, it would be a lot less per artist. And they wouldn't need to be rendered at a large size since we all know they'll be quite small at the end. We'd just paint them at the intended small size from the get go. I don't get how any of this would be a"fuck you" to artists if they're happy to help out a free project that they like. And to some degree we could easily combine different parts and colored elements to create new portraits without having to paint every single one of them from scratch. Something like in your example just up here: they look the same apart from a few details

I tried 3D at some point too but it's not the most fun thing for me. I made an 8-wheeled troop transport vehicle and even added the texture work in Substance Painter. It was fun but eh, not for me

yeah i like to work on small things, but with great detail. so the bigger something is, the worse it gets

and i had a hard time making completely original stuff at first so i had to take inspiration from other peoples art and "scrambled" it a bit

it took me long enough to get decent at pixel art and pixel art animation, so i find that discovering new fields is going to distract me and suck away too much time

and if i for example want 3D interpretations of my art, then i guess i could consult 3D artists since there's a literal visual template for them to follow. as i could just make more and different angles of the same object.

but for my own purposes i wouldn't need 3D art specifically since im not planning to make any media or game. there's no shortage of popularity on 2D pixel games either, so... its not a bad market.

so my plan is to keep making pixel art and when i feel skilled enough i will try to sell it off

i showcase my stuff here and there and people mostly say its good so thats a promising start. makes me wanna keep going.

its just more work than midjourney probably

but you have just way way more parameters you can adjust to get exactly what you want

and it runs completly locally and not in the internet

but that also means that you can only use it with decent hardware

and you can could even use images from stalker games to train it further to get better stalker like images, something you cant do with midjourney or dall-e

but that requieres large amounts of vram , like ~24gb+ vram

yes, there are different versions available and different forms of using it, like desktop programs or webuis or command line usage

and there are stable diffusion versions that are further trained to be espacially good at certain taks, like generating anime or certain nsfw stuff etc

im using this repo to work with stable diffusion

all you need i think is , python 3.10 and git.
and then you clone the repository and execute a .bat file and it does the rest of the work, like downloading dependecys etcc

but i think by default you need a nvidia card to use this repo, with at least 4gb vram, more is better

it can take a lot of getting used to and experimenting for getting good images.
But there are many communitys on discord and reddit etc to help you getting started

it also has extension support for some very cool things like creating animations and small video clips using it, or even generating music using it

and it has serveral upscaling methods build in you can use to upscale your images

the music stuff is interesting, its a stable diffusion model that was further trained on spectograms of music and text describing it.
And by turning the spectograms back into sound you get music out of a model designed to generate images

but i noticed with stable diffusion 2.1, its much harder to generate s.t.a.l.k.e.r related images than it was using 1.4 and 1.5

i added a style using something called an "embedding" and that embedding sometimes messes up bodyshape

especially the legs 😄

they sometimes look really stupid and are way to short

but thats a problem of the embedding , not with stable diffusion in general

but if i use prompts now that produced great images in stable diffusion 1.4 or 1.5, it looks like total trash in stable diffusion 2.1 😦

so i need to rewrite the prompts completly or change to the other model version just to generate nice stalker images 😄

to get the images i want, i still have to put in time and effort, changing parameters and interating over outputs, sometimes for hours until ii get results i then use for things like events and videomapping

so its not like i dont put in time and work to get the output i want

sure it can generate an image in seconds, but from hundreds of images i only pick a small amount and then refine them until i get to the point where im satisfied with the result

its basically follows the same principle of making art on your own, where you often also change stuff and iterate over your work until you are satisfied with the results.
just that i use other tools that are handeled differently
