oof
💀

vanaheimer

Is there going to be Midgard?
Ye
lie
:)
❤️
I think groups were changed
they really named it ASS GUARD
We guard our asses 🫡
idk what I read when I typed that
guys
I'm trying to say I found lots of diamonds, exp, iron on the floor in Asgard
Inside the factory building
can confirm i am a red bird
Xd
oop
why is there nothing in the discord
Bump
opoen a ticket
hi
Very strong nation
Based
(1.8 pvp)
self respect and a lack of brain damage
Why you getting so butthurt from an ad? 🤣🤣🤣
Just thought it’d be more convenient for the log on clickers to find you
Clearly paying chosen Dick loads of obby wasn’t sufficient if you still have to look
Did someone give chosen Obby?
I gave chosen obby!!!
Crispy, I hope you got a good price for it
Epic
1.8 pvp
i don't get this
why is it a bad thing?
it suffers from the fatal flaw of being cringe
I mean I don't really see the cringe tbh
I see through the lens of 1.8 pvp
I guess
newfriend moment
the part that's cringe is recruiting people literally just to click in a war for you rather than actually making a nation that people want to be part of and defend
it's all a tad irrelevant because assguard is pretty much wholly dead
haven't seen anyone who's actually part of it on in forever
Militaries hire private defense contractors, it's the same principle
fair enough
sure, but those nations that do are usually rather condemned for it in real life, are they not?
is anyone a big fan of wagner that isn't a copium-sniffing russophile?
They are, but that doesn't necessarily stop them
of course not
it doesn't necessarily stop anybody from doing anything, it's just also going to get clowned on to shit
part of int'l politics, you can do whatever you want to the extent of whether or not people find it far enough to go and stop you
I guess the way we look at it is rather subjective at the end of the day
In war there is no right or wrong, just whoever has the most resources
And if you have enough, then you're pretty much allowed to do anything because it gets overlooked. When smaller nations do it, they're put on the spotlight more frequently because it "pops" out in a sense.
I'm getting too deep with this
I love how they just left with the work of other people just to basically kill it with inactivity after.
well naturally
i'll give the new IF credit because they actually do seem to give quite a fuck
the old IF is operating like the original IF, drag newfriends to the middle of fucking nowhere and then do nothing and let them live in poverty
i wish new IF picked a different name so the whole baggage of the IF died but that's unfortunately never how civ works
legacy groups tend to retain names
''The new IF'' being asgard or the current one that exists?
new IF being the current one that exists
Got it. At the end of the day ''New IF'' is basically old IF without some of the leaders, like Cupar, who decided to leave to create asgard.
It retained the goal the IF initially was created for : a chill place for everyone to play regardless of their playstyle.
Damn, I was reading the lore and Asgard did not last at all
Shouldn’t have picked a fight with IF
Now I see the cringe
They moved too quick to action, and since they were low on soldiers and supplies compared to IF, they had to get people from the outside.
they're also the kind of people who just buy rather than develop
like hassdamahn, big inactive figure in asgard, was providing resources to the butternut/lambeau group with his scrooge mcduck-esque diamond wealth and buying them war mats
he did this so that if he ever needed a bunch of bored clickhungry teenagers he knew they would do it
Did it function like a banana republic?
butternut/lambeau are not exactly the most liked nations on the server (largely because they killed 3 whole nations and crippled 2 more, and now exist to extract wealth from icenia in concessions) so hass's relationship with them makes him cringe as well
also butternut and lambeau went inactive because there was no more coolpvp so everyone saw them for what they were
clickers that wanted to click
and asgard is pretty inextricably tied to that
Well that’s good at least
I’m new af to CivMC politics
Well
CivMC in general
Basically, as a short timeline (though a totally biased timeline, since I am not from asgard, so don't think this is 100% facts, rather my personnal view on that timeline) :
The founder of the IF, who was also chancellor, and a former chancellor both decided to leave, taking with them the two most active state in the Imperial federation. They were controlling a vast majority of all the institutions of the Imperial Federation, and could basically make anything they wanted.
When they left, they took with them many things that were not entirely theirs. One of the state that they left with, Imperia, was the former capital of the Imperial Federation, and they also tried and leave with most of the exp infrastructure, that were not developped by them.
After that, they didn't do much. I went many time to see if there was any progress : The former very active capital, that I helped build and design, completly stopped building. The Olympics that were planned didn't happen, the defensive infrastructure that were actively getting built didn't progress an inch. The only remarkable thing they did was try and recruit some outside players to prepare for a war that everyone kind of assume it was the IF, the nation they left.
I need to say that the IF has always been recognized as a very peacefull nation. It's lost in the middle of nowehere, barely has any clickers, and has always kept to himself and avoided any sort of drama. I think it's generally considered a dick move in the community to attack the IF or plan a war agains't them since it's always been a place for newfriend and players looking to play very chill.
When they left, a few weeks after some players who left with them decided to leave and form their own nation in the very north of the map. Since then, they have been completly inactive. The few players that actually made the nation active left, and it's basically just their inactive leaders who caused the chaos that are left.
A lot of drama, for nothing.
it takes a bit to get all the nuances but this is why newfriends are always pushed to join a nation
a lot of people think "hey what if i start my own thing" and understand zilch about what they're doing
I’m joining Volterra 😉
i think it'd be important to note that the assguarders got caught in a bunch of lies
Wow
like cupar's voter fraud, the push for a bunch of inactive nations to be looted but also maintain senate seats (that tended to vote to keep things the same, the fuck did they care they were dead), constant border expansion, etc etc
Some of their reasons were : The government is corrupt, nothing can be achieved, etc.
But the people who left were litteraly being criticized before leaving for basically creating a dictatorship in the Imperial Federation from how much changes with little to not consultation were being made. They basically created the corrupt government, cheating votes etc.
Bro…
That’s so scummy
you're in good hands with volterra
Often, when people are saying that it's cringe, it's not about one specific thing or reddit post. There is a big context, and that context is important.
Things won’t change as long as people think things won’t change, it’s ironic in nature
Perfect
In this situation : The reddit post was made by people who left their old nation, that they created and nurtured, after causing chaos in it, before trying to get pvpers to go and destroy what was left of that old nation.
I see, so they were trying to get pity points
And that's a very small summary, because the individuals involved have a lot more to their name than just this situation. As @kind valley said, there history of supporting toxic nations financially, welcoming shitters in their nation etc.
They were good to some extent at playing PR for sure.
Everyone ended up seeing through their bullshit though
Well that’s good
But I mean, thinking as someone who has no experience with this server, who tries to overtake a capital city from a well established nation and expect being untouched?
There comes a point when it catches up to you
Well the reason why it worked it's because they were the former leaders who rule over that nation for months. They had all the access and the groups, so even if people would say no not a lot could be done.
So yeah they got bad reputation but at the end of the day, the capital (Imperia), even if someone wanted to continue the project, they couldn't. They have the groups and there is nothing that can be done about it.
you'll quickly find that group ownership is practically nation ownership
Nepotism sucks
well part of civ is actions having consequences
trusting someone is indeed an action
Yeah, unfortunately. Even if all the IF would want to take back Imperia and restart that project, there is litteraly nothing that can be done since Cupar has the groups
it's a shame but honestly for the best
Imperia will soon try to draft a motion to become an independent state or territory at some point if this is the case.
even if it does, and everyone but cupar was for it, at the end of the day they're his groups
Everyone active in Imperia left because of Hass/Cupar. So no, there is no one there.
And even if it did, they own the groups.
So it’s a ghost town
best you can do is pearl him and hold him til he transfers groups, but like
He's inactive, he won't care.
''Lol waste your player essence''
go figure, guy who loves dead shitter nations shows up
surprised you have time to be here with so much going on in kallos arnen genso oh that's right
Is the server still active ? I played in Rivia after leaving the IF but it died
"imagine playing in a server instead of hanging around in a discord for that server lmao"
I haven't been on in a month and a half personnaly. Law school is killing me.
yes the server's still active
Nice. If you need to summarize the server in 3 sentence, what would you say?
It's tense rn? Chill? Best nation to play in right now (excluding nara to remove bias) ?
Going to start law school next fall
Dope to see a law student here
Ooh! Nice, congratulations!
I am in my second year.
Are you in the US or another country?
Ouff, rough. Good luck ahaha!
EVERYONE KEEPS TELLING ME THAT! 😂
I am doing a dual law degree because my situation is weird. I am doing a JD but also a LL.L. Basically I live somewhere weird where it's both Common law and a french civil law system, depending on which field of law. Private law (Family, contracts, torts etc.) are french civil law and public law (constitutionnal law, criminal, etc.) are common law.
So to practice where I live you need to litteraly have 2 degrees woop woop
I can confirm I am still obsessed
And I hate every single JD class I have x)
Omg…
That’s insane, what type of law are you going for?
Employment and labor law is really interesting, or Constitutionnal law.
I am a research assistant for a prof that does comparative constitutionnal law (Canada, Uk and US mainly) and I find it so interesting. There just isn't too much actual lawyer jobs in constitutionnal law. I might go for a master and just be a prof at some point lol
What about con law do you find interesting?
I love how government institutions work and are regulated. In Canadian & Uk constitutionnal law more specifically, I love how there sort of 2 differerent constitution. On one end, there what is written, and on the other end, there's what is actually happening.
In the constitutionnal text, the monarchy has so much power. In reality, the king could never use those powers.
I'm a bit nerdy, most people roll their eyes ahaha
I mean it is interesting and it also makes sense why you’re in CivMC
It’s probably the same reason i’m here
To me it’s just fascinating that people create forms of govt on here with regulations, borders, trade, and constitutions or lack thereof. It’s interesting how these systems play out with each other.
I agree!
At some point I was gonna make a law research institute in CivMC, as well as a small law firm to offer people services to help writing good constitutions and such.
I then thought It was really a dumb idea and would be a waste of my time.
I don’t think it would be dumb
I think it would be extremely helpful
You could give personal and valid insights to governments and they would listen to you
You could set up shop with a nation of your choosing and from there start getting your name out there
Your services could help prevent election fraud
@slow patrol let's move to #general
For sure
few things to correct about defensive infras; they did make progress on that for about a week or two but nothing much happened afterward. Other thing is that they also took almost everyone in the IF government with them, the same government they complained about what you mentioned.
FIRST two weeks after their independence ^^
that's all I know from what I saw tho
Asgard never planned a war against anyone. That reddit post was purely attract people that would be willing to grind defensive infra and xp. Not sure why you keep propagating this, I obviously never would've joined if war with anyone was in the plans
(1.8 pvp)
It's normal to assume in the narrative that there was a war that was prepared when there is a litteral reddit post saying that there will be a war, along with very extensive defensive infrastructure being put in place. It's also very easy for anyone to lie about the fact that there were no war planned in the future.
yeah but we wouldn't really have needed to recruit at all if we did want to go to war with IF lol
so its just silly imo
And while I trust the judgement of many people including yourself, it was normal back then to assume that there was a war being prepared on asgard's side.
At the end of the day though the rest of the timeline remains : Asgard left the IF, then became a notorious exemple of an inactive nation on CivMC, creating a whole bunch of drama for what was essentially less than a month of actual gameplay in Asgard
this assumes cuppy is wouldn't think to use an reddit alt though
When you consider how Asgard was formed, there's already an implication of conflict against the IF. Otherwise, the post wouldn't have been made.
except this whole secession is completely bloodless
While I understand that there wasn't any blood spilled during the actual secession itself, by dividing the people of Imperia from the IF you essentially breach a contract of trust between the nation and yourself.
How much progress was made in Imperia ? or in the gigantic vault hole that was being dug out? On defensive infrastructure in vanaheim? I haven't seen much. It's easy to see that a lot of the individuals who were part of the IF, including colton and potato for exemple, who worked a lot on these projects, alongside with people who left for asgard.
The only portion of Iceroad between vanaheim and mainland IF being finished... was done by me, surprisingly. The rest is just ice and trapdoors, with no obby, which is an obvious exemple of inactivity.
That's how civil wars start
yea
ye its obvious that Asgard is dead lol
while it is sad to see asgard being dead so soon, I feel like it's a curse for every IF seceders
Yeah, so I maintain my opinion that all of that was a big powertrip of cupar and hass.
CCTT? dead after being released from the IF
NA, we never heard of 'em much since the day they rejoined CW
The IF is a curse in itself lol
no they genuinely just wanted to split away and play the game
idk much about grenada, surmadri, and vermont but don't really heard much from em
They were pretty inactive before the whole drama tbh
barely heard anything from southseasia
oh true
wat I thought they have 3 ppl
Well, maybe on paper
Laitin, blu, and 1 dude I forgot played
but then I never seen laitin since the crisis
I think it is also an unfortunate precedent, there could be legal processes involved so that conflict could be avoided. Much like how Catalonia was once considered a separate state within Spain.
not gotta lie but they couldve cooled down on politic stuff prior to the crisis. We've gotten less focused on politics in the IF now
for sure
I'm just saying part of what I was told is they wanted a fresh start as a separate nation from IF, none of this was part of a scheme to go to war with people and they did have plans to continue playing post secession. That's pretty much impossible though because Asgard was right on the front lawn of IF and there was too much infra to leave behind lol
the infras in deluvia continent is just so much stuff to manage lol, the IF basically monopolized all of them
sometimes I wish civ have some kind of claim system so we don't have to reinforce each block under a namelayer owned by someone who won't be on forever
What does infra mean?
short name for infrastructure
Got you, appreciate it
np
oh trust me, the lores you saw here is just on CivMC. There are so much more stories and lores all way back in CivCraft, a 2012 server
Jeez, well honestly I would be satisfied dedicating myself to reading up on this and solidify myself as a historian
there are so many civ-related servers so I'll say this main timeline to where we got to civmc directly:
Ancap Minecraft (2011) -> CivCraft (2012-2016) -> Devoted (2015-now as a pvp practice server) -> CivClassics (2016-2021) -> CivRealms (2019-2021) -> CivMC (2022-now)
https://civwiki.org/ is where you'll learn lot of stuff, it have almost 2k articles over there
"Ancap Minecraft" sounds like a disaster
it was a lot different than any of the civ
not even remotely close to civ
but it ran by same founder who founded civ genre and civcraft
I'll definitely start from the beginning, I appreciate this
you're welcome, feel free to contact TheJmqn as he know more about civ history than I do
Got you
its difficult to do that because of how the system is set up, basically one person will always have 'primary' on a group, which is what gives them access / permission to the builds, and that person can't be deposed in any way aside from someone with lower permissions going and manually changing over each block to another group, which is difficult or impossible for larger builds / groups that span over many builds
The reason asgard was able to pull so much stuff with them was because (iirc) cupar had primary on the capital and was able to just kick everyone else off the group
despite secession being illegal, it didn't really matter because they had no more control over the blocks then if it was a completely foreign city
I could be wrong on the specifics of how the session went down im an outside observer on the whole IF thing
to being removed yeah
I'm still a bit confused, so the person who owns the most amount of blocks is who effectively controls the build?
When building something you do /ctf groupname and reinforce the build to that group, generally any build that isn't military goes under 1 group
if I build a house id probably put it on my personal group, a government build would go under a group that one person, a high level trusted member of government, has primary on
Oh I see
So if a highly ranked member of a govt has primary on a bunch of builds that could mean he could effectively kick anyone else who has a stake in the build, in this case, the IF
@valid kindle
yeah exactly
Damn
I guess that's why councils tend to be preferred so it balances itself out in a sense
kind of, but even in a council you need to trust that the person whos primary will willingly give up the group
it makes for a weird dynamic
True
are you joking me
i was on every day
I was replying to colton about Grenada... @iron maple
And sankara was never there before he left
😇
oindeed
@kind valley I see you got so much love for me. @slow patrol Just a heads up, half of what they said is shit. Just to be clear, Asgardians are the ones who contributed so damn much to the IF. And the problem we had with the IF? Noone knows what a team is. Noone defended each other. Infact when there was a coup they all got scared and said the coup was great and literally went against what they said a week before. Then blamed everything including what they did themselves (got loads of proof weve already shared) on @iron maple. It was a shambles. Noone would stay in such a nation
No way Im playing nice with the continuation especially from the likes of @next matrix who was such an embarassment he basically got kicked out whilst resigning at the same time from the nation. Sometimes he gets confused about what he said an hour ago
And @kind valley you are just a waste of time tbh 🤣🤣 I mean the shit you come up with. You literally are the definition of an asswipe. But your funny like a clown so be sure to stick around
Yet IF lives and Asgard is dead, wild
It is indeed Mr clown. It is indeed 😎
I farded in my ass(guard)
Well done Anvil. That is an approved Icenian message. Listen to your masters
Icenia is a failed nation who couldn't even defend itself against a couple rebels. What a fucking embarassment
Says the guy whose nation is dead
Rebound?
Yea Icenia is back and growing. I guess they are being held back by war reps (would need icenian to confirm) but from observation they are no longer hooked up on life support and are able to grow
Ahh thats what he meant by rebound. It never fully died. Ofcourse they are regrowing. Doesnt remove the fact that a bunch of them are scum
Idk much about them as players or folks or their behavior so can't comment on that.
But i do like seeing a nation that lost a war be revitalized and not die out.
Also @tidal sierra i hope that once y'all get your IRL matters in order that Asgard comes back and grows in population.
Despite many disagreements and clashes I still have to say that y'all especially Cuppy were recruiting machines which contributed to server growth as well as development in Deluvia
Appreciated Potato
this is why i love 'wholesome' civ
its not like people like you spread negativity across the server or anything to push people off from playing
my mistake, "true" wholesome civs give obby by the CS to chosen and ally with literal log clicker nations to shit around for no reason other than boredom. whoopsie!
lol i totally did this

🤓
you and hass are the same person lmao
"everyone knows you only hate nara cause your boss hassdamahn tpld you. Even though he is literally like a side character, we all know your his bitch. Its funny that you try and act like a big boy though. Keep up the humour kid" vibes
did you just rewrite hass's attempt at a copypasta into what you think I would have changed it too?
thats kinda sd bro
sidecharacter vibes
Just reading back and dont lie. I created the Vanaheim Iceroad along with help from Jalhf. I dont know what iceroad you are talking about. And the defences on the iceroad were built by Kibbles with Dcruzys help and my resources
Vanaheim hardly got any assistance from the IF but we assisted as many as we could and never asked for anything in return. We also assisted many people across various nations
Lol, ask kibbles and if he doesnt lie he'll tell you that the whole of the pavia iceroad done between vanaheim and main IF iceroad was me
The Pavia iceroad was done by Spoonce and the iceroad connecting that to Vanaheim was me and Jalhf
I used that Pavian iceroad from a year ago so I know it wasnt you
Hi, im new here, how do I join the nation or what do I need to join?
Are you good at (1.8 pvp)?
Im pretty good at it especially if server cps is limited, really like grinding/tech stuff tho
you don't
join a nation with people that actually play
asgard! (1.8 pvp)
