#Buff the Sherman’s

As it stands, the Sherman’s in all aspects are just trash, the medium tank regiment feels handicapped and weak as well, where you can’t take any of the Easy 8’s or 76 collection tanks but they are medium tanks? They also cost the same as the panzer 4’s and T34-76’s but have less penetration power and less explosive power. Which theirs no reason they cost the same, also, the variant differences between the M4A1/2/3/4 are all practically the same (yes I know historically they are very similar) but they also shouldn’t cost 11 spawn points when the point of the Sherman was that you can spam them in other games to compensate. Also, they should have better accuracy when moving because they had stabilizers, wet ammo racks as well, so why am I getting absolutely blown in half by a panzer 4 F2? Also, why do all the tank destroyers and M4A3/4 and M4A3E2/8 not have HVAP rounds. The main reason the Sherman works in other games is because it has weapons to deter enemy tanks even if it can’t front pen, but the moment and German or Russian player sees my Sherman’s, he collapses into my flank with 1 heavy and some trenched infantry and it’s over

Sherman should really be better on the move and have better munitions. Agree.

As it stands, there’s just no reason to play American tanks besides the Pershing and T95

It had better resistance than a Panzer IV but in some versions worse armor and worse gun, and a much higher profile as a target.

#

There is a certain game that is known to be realistic that represents Shermans quite well.

No sure I agree with this. The Shermans are great, and I often outfight tigers and other heavier tanks with them.

#

Use the tools you've been given, like smoke and submunitions and the shermans speed and versatility will really shine

The Sherman 75 of the M4A2 should be able to front pen the flat surface of the tigers hull but it can’t, the 76 100% should be able to front pen a tiger starting at the M4A2 76 but the normal variant can’t and the lightning only sometimes can.

because shermans aren't great, they were cheap and the main battle tank. They should be a little cheaper tho. "wet ammo racks as well, so why am I getting absolutely blown in half by a panzer 4 F2?" I dont get this? Wet ammo racks doesn't make your tank invincible

Smoke them up, set them on fire, subcaliber with the 76 W, so many options

(Sorry I misread you comment, ignore this I agree with your point) For a long time US doctrine was to keep mobile turret TDs to quickly rush to defeat armor, Sherman with the 75s (a gun based on the WWI French Field Gun btw) had a good HE performance but an extremely mediocre AT performance, most of the times Shermans had to retreat and await for TDs, after their terrible performance in Tunisia it was suggested to outfit it with the 76mm gun (based on an AA gun) but it was rejected at the time by US industrialist and some Army command.

You have a German report on the Sherman here: #📜┊hi-story message

#

The Sherman was reliable, easy to maintain, easy to mass-produce and comfortable for the crew, but in combat it was mid not "great".

#

Let's note some accounts:

#

"Lack of a principal gun with sufficient penetrating ability to knock out the German opponent has cost us more tanks, and skilled men to man more tanks, than any failure of our crews- not to mention the heartbreak and sense of defeat I and other men have felt when we see twenty-five or even many more of our rounds fired, and they ricochet off the enemy attackers. To be finally hit, once, and we climb from and leave a burning, blackened, and now useless pile of scrap iron. It would yet have been a tank, had it mounted a gun." - Corporal Francis Vierling of the U.S. Second Armored Division

"I am a tank platoon leader, at present recovering from wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge. Since I have spent three years in a tank platoon doing everything, and at one time or another held every position and have read everything on armour I could get my hands on during this time, I would like to get this off my chest. No statement, claim, or promise made by any part of the Army can justify thousands of dead and wounded tank men, or thousands of others who depended on the tank for support." - A quote of a US Officer during the Sherman Scandal in March 1945

Highly recommend this book.

Based on both Soviet and US tests in 1943:

Plus, the game has a realism mode (not exactly realistic tbh) too.

Also misread DeadLeaves comment, but that's another point 😅

If they were slightly cheaper that would be fine, I also like stated think that the different variants should have different stats and not just copy and pasted, and they should fix both HVAP/APCR and WP

Something feels off not with the tanks but with the AI...
I swapped sides and played The US after getting rolled over by their stuarts and Shermans. killing PZ4's in 1 to 2 hits.

but then noticed.
when I changed to americans the tables turned, I would hit a PZ4 4-5 times and not kill it but it would one shot my Sherman instantly.

there is something with the AI, it knows where ot shoot your tank to instantly kill it.

Acting like you do not have a penetration indicator
