arent planes kinda strong already?
Yes, they are weak. It is easy to bring their effectiveness to zero with AA. You have a scanner which makes it so easy to just escape the barrage. The planes always die hunting down the AA. They can not check the AA presence with a clever maneuver.
Ofc they are strong vs players who don't care about countermeasures, but that is because these players are just weak.
doesn't a bombing run kill the anti air also though, even if bomber maybe dies it self? and after that if no other player has AA, then you kill kill kill
most matches played are not high competitive
It stands for everything in the game: if enemy has no countermeasure the unit gets powerful. The bomber will die from high caliber AA without making the job done.
I feel like the game must be balanced using the countermeasures graph.
And the plane is a theoretically good countermeasure for wide range of units but it is awfully bad on practice.
It is OK if AA would totally counter the planes but had wide range of counters, but they don't.

Nah, multiple light will do the work too
but if you pick multiple light, then you don't have many other units, plus bomber will still get through to kill one
im not for or against buffing or nerfing planes / AA whatever, just trying to understand your reasoning
in my experience in matchmaking games AA is weak, planes = strong
I play solo que though (in beta), team games can be different
You have to choose. What about CP, you can keep the guns neutral if you want to fill the whole frontline
did you watch Ahun play matchmaking? he picks 0 AA and max planes always
I think he does not pick AA because he plays actively and he is not a proper target for planes.
What about planes and AA I never felt my AA had problems with air defense.
But AA is surely strong as it is has multiple purposes: dealing with infantry, tanks and air from too reliable stealth.
yeah balance is the key, people whine a lot about artillery being too strong, but imo artillery is the weakest unit group in competitive play.
I think we'll see the balance better when the game is released
This topic reasoning is that you need 1 AA on whole map to save all your artillery from planes

mostly atm people whine planes are too strong, not about AA being too strong
but like you said in competitive play it may be reverse
will have to see for some actual competitive play to happen, to judge better, maybe?

Developers followed their whine during the Arena times and you must see once what it lead to.
i never played a mow game before
Sniper aimed for that long he could not hit any moving soldier as his aim would be broken by aim limit
Scouts were spotted by everyone once they would get in a basic vision range
@split urchin and yep, he uses the AA and even the trick with neutral units cost 0 CP

Well best counter for AA is arty , like any stationary gun( for highest tier AA).
Plus the fact an AA gun takes quite some CP so if you take it you're way less pressent on the front.
You can use an flak 88 to shoot directly at vehicles but then you're risking being discovered if a plane arrives and you shoot down the plane.
I understand your point of view and I definitely agree with you that it's not a perfect situation. But from the AA player perspective, he's really kinda screwed prior to echelon 3.
His main job suddenly becomes waiting for planes and acting as a pseudo- anti -tank regiment.
If on top of that his range is reduced in what position does this put him.

how does that help? you mean the crew can be outside gun without cp and you can use other units, retreat them and crew it again?
Support battalions can have whole map of uncrewed guns
Yeah he tends to leave uncrewed weapons left and right and just recrews them depending on need

We are not talking about vehicles. There's no reason to keep the vehicle uncrewed.
And it's OK to lose a gun on your side as it is an easy target
If you are afraid of scouts - use the eye indicator on your vehicles
Well you won't get it on uncrewed AA. I'm referring specifically to those. ;P
AA comes with a vehicle carrying it. Usually it costs 0 CP, but soviet high caliber AA comes with Komsomolets armored tractor which has a machinegun and so must worth something.

I always take 3 M1 AA on first echelon
