I started a game on the Xbox and continued it on PC today, after playing for 2h I saved and ended the game, when I came back later I wanted to load and realized the save is nowhere to be found. I played again for a few minutes, saved and it turns out that any time I save on the PC it just doesn't show up when I click on Load Game... I went to the folder to locate saved games and I only find one save in regards to this issue (which I assume is the newest) my older saves are there as well. But this one also isn't showing up on Load Game and I'm not sure where to go from here...

got it to load. Looking into the save I noticed that there was something missing in the first line of the save. Usually, the last entry there is "slot":n" where n is the slot that shows in the load screen. This was missing
The working save showed slot 2 as the one used, so I added just that and successfully loaded the save.
Attached is the previously not showing 145.... folder with the modified save file. Withe the Game not running, mMove yours elsewhere and place this one (decompressed) instead.

I noticed that the other cryptically named file also contains the data of the actual save's first line, so I changed that to be similar to my modified save. Maybe that's what prevented showing it up

okay now I see the last working save twice, not sure if it was the wrong file, but this was the latest file in the folder, so that would mean that instead of it "not working" or "not showing up" it just didn't create the save at all
the saves I just created for my other world or the one for the newly created one also don't show up

yep but that save isn't the newest for this world either, I don't fucking know what's going on anymore, I just know I like to play this game and it's frustrating that I can't save any progress at the moment, not even on a new created map...

the way the xbox pc version names its saves makes it hard to find the correct file indeed, but if you have a text editor like notepad++ you can go on the hunt for the correct file.
The modification dates of folders might be wrong, but the actual save files (i.e. the large ones) should point to the correct one.
Opening such file into notepad++ quickly reveals the save slot and date/time that saves got created

there's probably around 80 saves, can't find one for slot 4 at the moment... but again, all this shouldn't make a difference for a world that I create ON THE PC, save and try to load it on the SAME PC, right?! And that also doesn't work, so I think finding / modifying safe files that aren't there doesn't really help... @amber epoch
there's a slot 4 save... but honestly no idea from when that is, but every slot4 save shows up in game except the new ones of course, so technically this should be one of the ones that are showing up
but again, this is a save file that's already showing up, so I don't know what modifying it would help. I don't think there's a safe in the save file folder that's not showing up ingame

savev files are grouped in save slows, which are a value in the save files as well as the small header file, like

xbox appears to create individual folders for each save file created, but those are in no particular order (other than probably time created). so there's no way to quickly tell, which of the saves belongs to which "world"

yes I did, I picked the one with save slot 4
but it doesn't match up with what slot 4 should be
slot 4 has playtime less than 2 hrs
my highest world has about 60 hrs
so I don't know why this save says 83 hrs
also btw, it worked with saving / loading when I moved all my saves out of the folder, just moved them back in and tried again, not working again now

that 82 hours was my bad, divided 4923 by 60 only once (seconds to minutes), instead of 3600, so playtime is actually that minute

Maybe exclusing all folders that have a creation/modification date before 19. of January (the day you created this topic) belps finding the missing save. It should be among the largest file in one of the remaining folders

no no I don't think you understand 🙂 I'm not looking for a particular save, like yeah I lost about 2hrs on that one save, but idgaf about that one at this point... I can't save any of my worlds anymore, like I can't play because I can't save any progress whatsoever
also unfortunately as this is a low playtime world the save is a lot smaller than most of my 60 hrs save games :/
but I don't care about that one save file anymore, I just want to be able to save the game in general again...
or load...

When saving is possible with an empty folder, there could be a limit (count or size) before saving fails. This would allow you to continue an older game and still save progress
Just only keep the most recently created ones

I tried keeping one save in the (empty) save folder but it wouldn't let me load, presumably because of the index file...
moving the saves back now, deleting some and checking if it works then
no doesn't seem to help, I deleted about 30 saves on my big world and 5 on the one I'm trying with (just to be save it's not per world) and it still doesn't show up
unless the limit was put in place with a (very) low number much after I saved this many games, but I honestly don't want to manually delete 70 saves without it working after
maybe @amber epoch has an idea if that's something that was implemented with the last update?? Before everything worked just fine
ahhhh now it works, I deleted even more savefiles (down to 5 save files for my biggest map now) and NOW I can save...

one more thing!! The reason for this many saves are auto saves, I just realized the game autosaves once a minuate...
that fills up the saves incredibly fast... especially on big maps
is there a fix for that??
