#Port fowarding?

Hm that's weird! Gonna page in <@&1171546467312341032> for this one
Hey @swift plover, sorry this is happening to you, are you and your friends playing on the same game version? Can you please check if the games are updated?
We are all on PC and where using V0.2.
Running WIN 10, with latest updates on OS and other drivers.
All of us own the game through Steam.
We had verified all our files multiple times and even completely removed the game
and re-installed it just to make sure.
I Haven't tried the latest version to come out today.
We have tried connecting from in-game menu and it just goes to a loading screen and get stuck,
(waited over an hour one time to be sure)
Tried joining through a steam invite with same results.
We have tried several combinations on who host but no matter who is host it just never gets past loading screen.
The only 2 that can connect are on the same local network,
they have 1GB fiber internet with a direct Ethernet connection to their modem,
but still none of the rest of use can connect to them with Techtonica and we have tested with other games
and we have no issues with any of hosting or connection to each other.
I was going to try to forward ports for the game just to be sure its not an issue
but I couldn't find on the site what ports are used.
I really like the game so far and I know its still in Beta but I think it would be more fun with friends
so I am trying everything on my end to get this fixed.
that's suuuper weird. what version number do you all have on the home screen?
currently V0.2.1c,
Same issue even after the update today.
not that the patch notes showed any changes to the connection or inf/loading screen issue.
so just asking:
two computers in the same network can connect, but those using a modem/router to connect can't connect? can your friends join your session without problems? without knowing your modem/router, network/setup, but did you already
- tried to use upnp for your computer? (if available)
- set up exposed host for debugging reasons and tried then again? if this is working then there has to be a blocked port in the modem/router
- deactivated windows firewall ...
Had the same issues with other games, one of the options above always helped me to find the error ...
that's really odd, this is the first time i've encountered an issue w/ this
@hidden sequoia making sure u saw the update!
I have tried it with upnp on/off
We all either have linksys or netgear gaming routers,
NAT type on other games shows NAT open or type 2
I have tried changing DNS to
8.8.8.8/8.4.4.8. And
1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1
To see if it would help but it didn't
Turned windows firewall off and it didn't help.
None of use are running any special stuff with the internet like custom firewall or VPN.
I can see them on the friend's list in game and can click join and it launches into the loading screen and just sits there,
Same result if they try joining me or any combo of this.
Not sure what else to try,
sounds like they are being blocked from connecting to your network. Do you have an antivirus suite running that has an included firewall (Norton/McAfee, etc)
also, the network ports for steam: TCP: 27015, 27036
UDP: 27015, 27031-27036
Just win firewall and anti-virus no extras,
And we already tried opening those ports
If it was just me they couldn't connect to I would know the issue but all 7 of us regardless of who host is kinda strange
most antivirus comes with a firewall these days. If I can, what antivirus are you using?
Also, have you checked the settings on your router?
Hey @swift plover I've been trying to find out what have might be causing this but no luck so far, can you please send us your Player.log file after you try to connect to one of your friends, and then close the game after it fails? The file is created at <YourWindowsUser>\AppData\LocalLow\Fire Hose Games\Techtonica
Here is the log from today<
Sorry for such a late reply @hidden sequoia I was out of town for wor the last few days
