In real life Radars are disrupted by ground background like trees and mountains, and when a plane is flying low enough Radar usually has a hard time detecting that plane due to the waves bouncing off the ground as well as the aircraft, this also effects the capability of Radar Missiles even if self-contained. I hope that this could potentially be implemented into the game at some point as it gets pretty annoying when a radar can detect me before I even take off in a Dark Reach from clear across the map or when I'm flying low to avoid Radar detection just to get hit with the infamous tripple-Strato.

This is literally implemented in game lol
Having a RWR “ping” doesn’t mean you’ve been detected, they’ve only seen you if it comes with a yellow or red band
But yeah flying low and blending in with ground clutter will already make evading radar missiles easier
I get yellow banded the moment I take off though regardless, and in my experience flying even 10 meters off the ground has never saved me from a radar probably because the trees aren't modeled and thus don't cause disruption
Couple things here. The trees don’t cause disruption, they also don’t have hitboxes, so you can fly through them. The darkreach isn’t a stealth aircraft, and you have to get lower than that to prevent detection. Ground clutter does more for evasion than it does detection regardless.
Flying 10 meters off the ground doesn't make you impossible to detect, IRL or ingame. Radar systems quickly adapted to the effects of ground clutter through a variety of methods IRL - you shouldn't rely on ground clutter to save you, use proper defensive tactics to survive radar threats
You can still ground clutter if you hit like near 1m alt. Depends on RCS tho
Sub 5-6 usually works for me albeit for the Vortex and Ifrit
Right, ground clutter is still present and possible to utilize, but you're better off not relying on it, especially when trying to deal with enemy aircraft.
Radar hasn't been an issue for me against aircraft yet, it's the ground radar that always gives me issues so far
If you’re having trouble with Stratos, try to put terrain between you and it as much as possible
And just don’t fly the DR for anything but Tuskoes or ASHMs
ground clutter as you described has already been implemented in the game, and relatively realistically
i'm not entirely sure what you mean by being detected immediately after takeoff as that's not possible due to the actual radar horizon (physical curvature of the globe) unless there's an elevated enemy radar station or medusa that's relatively close
Oh I don't, I usually don't get far from the airbase before launching my munitions then landing, but in a Revoker or the F-22 knock off I can't remember the name of I still have issues with them
stratolances can be easily defeated by flying low, breaking LOS, or simply defeating them since you have a lot of time and warning to do so
Usually if I use a DR it's from the far back airbase and the radar on the far edges of the map gets me on take off
Terrain man, just put a mountain in between. In the menu to the left of the map also set the AA icons as large as they can get for all modes (modes as in A2A, A2G, etc…), this helps you be more aware of where the AA actually is
-
Utilize terrain to avoid giving stratolance batteries (and other RSAMs) line of sight on you. If you stay low, the simulated curvature of the globe will protect you from being detected at super long ranges.
-
If you are being targeted by a stratolance, you can notch before the missile fires to make it easier to defend, instead of waiting to notch after you get the launch warning. Remember to put the velocity vector in the notch bar (not the crosshair!) and to hold down the defensive jammer until the missile is defeated.

You can intercept incoming missiles with both IR and Radar guided A2A missiles, select and fire on them fast enough and you're guaranteed a hit. You can do this via freelook in your cockpit or by selecting the missiles on the map. This is an alternative way to defend yourself and doesn't require notching, but they will keep firing on you...
So how do you take out the Statos without getting deleted? Cause that's the exact issue I'm having
just terrain follow
Medusa with 2 jammers and ARADS, or Luke Skywalker valley run with 68s in a jet
Question though, are cross sections implemented at all?
Depends on your aircraft/weapon. Most of the time you can't go wrong with staying low, fast, and blasting the batteries with a barrage of AGMs/bombs from a couple of miles out. If you kill the HLT-R truck, the battery will stop firing. If you kill the munitions truck (and the explosion doesn't kill the rest of the battery), the battery will stop firing soon afterwards as it will run out of ammo.
Radar cross section is implemented, though not by angle, it’s just a single number based on what plane and external payload, if any, you’re running
Good to know, thanks
RCS is very much implemented and stealth aircraft have significantly shorter detection ranges than non stealth aircraft. Attached is a chart for the stealth fighters (currently the stealthiest aircraft in the game) showing the ranges different radars will detect them at. Yes, high altitude dive bombing stratolance batteries with a Vortex/Ifrit internal bomb load is a very effective strategy if you know how to pull it off.
Additionally, white pings on your minimap/cockpit display mean you haven't been detected, yellow pings mean you are within detection range of that radar source, and red pings indicated a targeting lock (don't rely on it for aircraft, mainly useful for realizing ships/SAMs are firing on you or about to).
yes, a stealth vortex is incredibly stealthy compared to a tarantula
check out this video for a normal anti-r9 sortie
aaa has a lot of good examples

Gotta have no weapons on your wing pylons for this as well
Fly close to the ground and then launch a bunch if AGMs at it from 6 km or so
Or rather, just the radar
And try and find a approach that puts terrain between you and the radar
you can see the RCS of an aircraft/loadout in the bottom right in the aircraft selection menu
