#Artillary Spotting.

It’s a great idea IMO
arty could just function off of dl
But thats boring
Make artillery get more accurate the longer a spotting aircraft is marking for them until their target is destroyed
Yeah kind of like shot correction in warno
Given that the Medusa is kind of an AWACS I feel like it should be in this list too.
Awacs
Dont spot targets for artillery?
A Medusa radar could only say that a target is there. It couldn't give the artillery crew corrections to direct their fire.
I thought AWACS were also used as command aircraft?
Happy to be wrong, I like learning stuff 🙂
Its used as a command aircraft but that generally means that it flies in the back and tells others what to do
It does not go up to the front to find the enemy
laser guided artillery shells from the chicane
Keep the Crick relevant by giving it lasing pods, so arty shells can be guided by it.
ah yes, the humble awacs
Cricket life matter! For artillery...
In any way i sure artillery should be installed by players, not by default in heartland. And maybe good installation will be on Opal airport and west coast landing base
The cricket being especially good at artillery spotting would give late joining players something meaningful to do
The idea of loitering in a Cricket in direct line of sight to a surface target long enough for a howitzer shell to be fired, fly its entire arc and strike the target gives me Pre-TSD.
you still have missiles to do self-DEAD, the artillery is more like extra ammo
how about artillery getting extra accuracy/rof against lased targets? we already have the target designation mechanic for the rockets, just have artillery benefit from it.
if we ever get the 70's spinoff it would be really cool to see light FAC planes with phosphorus rockets
somethings gotta spot the targets for datalink

in a 70s spinoff FAC planes should be the only one to be able to spot for artillery. If a fast jet finds enemy units they don’t get fired upon by artillery.
For the 70s spinoff it should be a copilot thing. Every plane that has a copilot and spends enough time with direct line of sight of a target should be able to radio in the enemy position.
if only could have multicrew
I think they should add copilot/gunner seats that you can drop in/out of if you're not already flying a plane (and the pilot of the plane you're joining consents to it). It would be flexible and convenient, not requiring you to be with the same plane the whole way from takeoff to landing/destruction and allowing things like dedicated Medusa jammer/laser operators (basically you'd be allowed to control any weapon the pilot isn't currently controlling.) Pilot gets full control of movement, countermeasures, landing gear and ejection.
I think netcode isn't up to that level of good yet, iirc
I've heard that as well. I'm not sure what the current network architecture is and what kind of prediction/correction the game uses, but if they do improve it I'd love to see multiple players in the same aircraft.
same, it's going to be awesome when it's done properly
drones should also be able to do spotting, perhaps deployed from containers or airbases, maybe medusa
