The new UH-90 Ibis features a cargo bay similar tò the Darkreach, where you can either choose tò bring One big pallet, or maybe bring some AGMs and troops. That functionality could be expanded tò the Tarantula, allowing us tò maybe bring either a container and an LCV-25 or demo bombs on the big One. And maybe, maybe also separate the LCVs and LET US bring the 45
#2 different Tarantula Bays

Another thing, it'd be nice tò have a way tò manually change the thrust tò forward or backwards regardless of throttle.
already coming
but later
you can, just press f and then use arrow keys (or whatever you have bound to "Custom Axis 1"
Hmm, but what do the different axis actually do? Like what does axis 1 do or axis 2 do?
sometimes I'm thinking about the "big bay/small bays/no bay" triple choice.
There are helicopters that remove the cargo bay to serve as flying cranes, no reason the Tarantula can't do this in exchange of a larger weapon load or stronger winch.
Id love to be able to select what kind of lcv i bring, instead being forced to grab one AA and one AT
Yeah it's pretty annoying.
The 45 is much too tall, it doesn't fit dimensionally. But a split otherwise would be goated, I want my 2x LCV25 AA loadout
iirc its coming, but i agree the one and one loadout ends up feeling very weak imo
Only 2?
We need 4-5 for ugvs!!! And 2 for lcv25
UGVs are PALA, the tarantula is BDF
This yes. But im sure in future when will become drone era this will be needed. For future BDF drones
It doesn't really matter imo. Remember that PALA and BDF have both 3 exclusive aircrafts each, and yet they both can use them all in altercatiom, domination, confrontation and escalation. If you want It realistic, edit the Mission tò forbid exclusive aircrafts and loadouts
someone quoted yesterday that devs said they will not hard forbid aircraft model.
The UGV however is hard forbidden from being loaded to the Tarantula.
I think that's more a balance issue than a lore issue, considering that size wise a Tarantula could probably carry 4-6 UGVs. And if you bring them all SAMs you can basically airdrop them in case of emergency and since they can shoot while in the air it'd be a little unfair
the Ibis being able to drop 2 SAM UGVs shooting S1s is already rather OP, considering Tarantula can only drop one manned SAM that shoots S2
actually both the SAMs tarant can drop (AFV6 AA and LCV25 AA) are both S1 launchers
Which shoot only 4 times 😦
I just saw a thread discussing about an IRSAM being buffed to S2, which one is it? Linebreaker?
And if that's the case it's even more imbalanced as the cheaper Ibis can drop two S1 vehicle while Tarantula can only drop one
AFV8 Mobile Air Defence and Linebreaker SAM
not the AFV6 AA, which does have a 20mm gun as well as its SAM. makes up slightly, and can also capture
oh got it
so what do we do about the fact that Taran only drops half the AA power than Ibis despite being bigger....
And let it carry troops
I think I read somewhere this server a few days ago (after 0.31) that infantry for Ibis is a placeholder to make Ibis have the capability to occupy (before something else that would replace it comes up), not a long-term thing to be added.
Oh..
Darn
I would like to see the Tarantula able to drop the units the Ibis can - albeit in larger numbers since it's a much larger vehicle (e.g. up to four Hexhounds compared to the Ibis's two)
agreed for the jacknife in particular, but hexhounds should remain a PALA-specific unit imo
I see no reason BDF shouldn't also get UGVs, but perhaps a heavy "ISV" style or drone-tank style UGV that's less airmobile would suit them better.
It really doesn't. In real terms, AFV6 AA is about as capable as two Hexhound SAMs for sustained engagements, and it has capability to engage cold munitions (bombs) that Hexhound SAMs simply don't.
AFV6 AA is IRSAM isn't it? or you mean the SPAAG part? SPAAG only engages bombs in very, very limited capability, and one AFV6 AA would be far easier to overwhelm than two Hexhounds against IRSAM targets
In missile capacity, yes, but those missiles being limited to a single unit makes it easier to saturate with incoming targets, and therefore less survivable to incoming missiles. If the gun on AFV6 was better and made it harder to saturate than yeah, I would agree, but as it stands right now a double drop of Hexhound SAMs takes roughly twice the number of missiles to saturate as AFV6, and take the same number of bombs to destroy (AFV6 can be saturated with ~2 bombs, hexhounds being two targets requires two bombs)
agreed, imo a pack of three slightly larger than hex’s ground vehicles, something similar to the GMG and SAM versions, maybe a mortar vehicle?
Nah, I say differentiate more. Instead of light unarmored ones, make 'em chunky.
i agree, imo more just meaning physical scale “slightly bigger”, heavier ones but similar armament choices of an indirect fire ground attacker or a sam vehicle
