TLDR;

High mountain tops, low valleys.
(Sea on outskirts if naval units are a must, i dont think they are)

Unhinged yapping segment, I don't hold any accountability for my words and actions past this point:

Ground units will have a hard time on a map like this. That's kinda the point - Instead the map would be saturated by SAMs and permanent radar installations. Parallel to how it works in real life. See Norway/Switzerland armed forces.
Would it be a pain to deal with? yes, good. Would it force a different playstyle? yes!

In-Mountain fortified airbases. Long enough that you could fly through. Please God.

Realistic? yesn't. Cool? very.

Dive-nukers would have to come up with a different strategy to deal with these heavily fortified bases. Maybe via new or existing bunker busters. We have seen what the "MOAB" or GBU-72 can do in the middle east for example.
Or ALND-4s if preliminary work is done and path is laid out for them.

Open air airfields in valleys.

Short take-off, catapult assisted mini airfields in rougher terrain. Helipads, etc.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk. Since you're great here's a link to perhaps the best mission in Ace Combat history:

I agree. We have several map suggestion threads already, though.

Mix of Waiapolo Mountains and Roca Roja desert would go undeniably hard

Nah bro really, it's all good, I'm not that serious, if this suggestion gets more attention I'm acc happy

Would def be a vibe but I could see those valley airbases being really hard to defend against stealth approaches

Radar and later on awacs presence would have to be pretty strong to make anything visible consistently

That said I support this

Enemies could emerge from any point along any ridgeline with a very close approach to the target at any time, and you probably would have no idea they were on their way in the first place

#

I think every map should have central areas be more or less impossible to get through without the enemy team at least knowing you exist, even if they don't really know where you are, and attacking airbases should require at least some exposure before your launch window to give a fair chance for failure

the map used to display a units actual real time rotation at its last known location even when it was unspotted. i miss that tech.

I think this could be perfectly if it will be semi archipelago style

lets push this further up to show the devs how bad we would like something like this :)

Just give me a map with actual strategic depth and no desert / mega ocean and my life is yours

I think what you could do to make naval units usable without actually making the map naval focused is have one side of the map lead to the ocean, with a large glacial lake on the opposite side, and maybe two wide rivers going between them that anything under 5000 tons could navigate

#

75-85% of the map can still be land

Just make it one large island
