I like the idea of a “soft hitbox” for this, where the hitbox deals gradual damage as you go thru trees
So half a second won’t be too bad, but 4 seconds will blow off a wing or something
I’m sure the devs will add this before full release
i would be fine with this personally, even as someone who tries to play “realistic” and avoid the trees as if they had full hitboxes
Add this but don't put it in the patch notes 
or make the hitbox much smaller than the visual model so you only die when you've clearly hit the trunk
tree branches and the like are always difficult to model accurately
i would prefer the soft hitbox tbh
I don't really trust a soft hitbox to work in a fun or reliable way
but not so lethal as in warthunder
N.Os damage models will make them less insufferable especially for helis.
In WT unless you barely clip something you explode from any impact due to there not really being enough break points in the damage model.
In N.O there are break points even down to just the pilot and their seat, hitting a tree can rip off an engine and control surfaces without taking the rest of the aircraft with it.
And in N.O you can clip something with a propeller blade without it instantly completely breaking
What would be the point if theres basically no radar floor anymore
challenge? realism? i don’t want people just flying thru trees?

Devs had worked on it but it has been a long time so maybe something changed
trees aren't real don't spread this treeist propaganda
I’d definitely rather have that kind of hitbox than a shitty/broken soft hitbox
I don't really want 9,000,000 hitboxes added to the game when we already have lag issues
