#Rocket CCIP marker/guidance

With the recent update making lynchpins dumb rockets unless lased I would love to have a way to precisely fire rockets when not lasing.

Either add a ccip marker showing the impact point of rockets, bringing it inline with existing bomb ccip marker

Or, alternatively, since lynchpins and kingpins are guided rockets, they could "lock" onto the vector where the aircraft was pointing at the moment of launch and cancel out all horizontal/vertical velocity as well glide to counteract gravity drop

A little bit out there but what about CCRP for pitch up attacks? If you select an unlased target and pitch up, a ui similar to bomb CCRP would appear showing where you would need to point for rockets to land at current position of target.

not just rockets, but CCIP for guns would also be cool

cool but completely useless

# ancient merlin cool but completely useless

i disagree, sometimes rockets are too close to guide reliably so just aiming for the actual impact area works better

This is especially true in like, super close popup attacks or inside the cities.

literally just press the lock button

then you're too close to use precision guided rockets

"I won't use it so it's useless" lol

ancient merlin
#

99.9% of players won't use it so don't clog the suggestions forum with your DCS roleplay requests

fringe laurel
#

It's not another analog F-14 suggestion so it's fine

#

this suggestion does add a lot to the concept

#

the addition of lock-on or datalink lobbing would be pretty neat, and so would the rockets staying on a straight course as best they can

This is more than just a CCIP, its like 3 different kinds of firing

"DCS Roleplay requests" for a completely normal suggestion

ancient merlin

im sorry but if you're shooting off your 14 guided baby missiles as unguided dumb rockets you're literally cosplaying, just ask for dumb rocket pods

dev time and attention is limited which roleplay requests never seem to respect

the developer gave you rocket aimbot and you're asking for them to develop a system to squander them like a 1980s gunship

You are acting like YOU are the one who will waist their time on developing this things.

Community thinks its a good feature. Cool. Devs can look at said feature and decide for themselves if they wanna ad it, and when its going to happend

right, and I can tell you it is a waste of time

their lack of moderation of this subforum says to me that it's not something the developers take seriously and that it's just a dumping ground, perhaps because of threads like this

Oh no

#

your dragging this down because its useless, but nothing about this is useless, it adds flexibility to weapons in the game by adding new ways to employ them

Your "policing" is dragging this entire thread into a less constructive and less civil direction because you dont understand that the suggestion forum is a suggestion forum, people are going to suggest features and the devs will decide on them
Not you, the Devs, we dont get the final say of what goes in or not.

reread the discussion and ask yourself again who exactly is uncivil

shadow spruce
#

oh, well thats that
Id love to see people lob kingpins at depots with some datalink guidance, would be cool for chickens since they get so many but the weight penalties can be really annoying

Low accuracy would fairly balance this over 48s, but the weight is already pretty extreme, so many not too badly?

I'd like the addition. We have CCIP when using guided bomb with no target selected. Makes sense for guided rockets to get the same treatment.

You still need to be pinpoint with missiles like lynches, because they dont have any splash damage at all, so its really quite of "questionable" usefulness, maybe with kingpins it will do the trick
But I personally really dont see any useful use of precise munition like lynches or kingpins to fire them unguided, while for bombs its useful because of their explosion radius, for those type of missile it would be useful if only there were some sort of even lighter armored targets than LCV45

shadow spruce

If your close enough its about as easy as strafing
Rockets can be way more precise than guns at long ranges too

summer bramble
#

ngl i would love to have some dumb rockets, no guidance (only ccip) you have twice the munitions

wdym? a gun strafer? i just mean as in a gun strafing focused plane, and while yes it doesnt hurt it does get annoying seeing the same request over and over for the mythical role of the A10 gun runner

Wow that got really heated about a fairly simple feature that would make rockets significantly easier to use.

In a certain range, rockets can struggle to track well due to their limited mobility. A CCIP can mitigate those issues

#

Also: Rocket lobbing.

Done in modern wars and is something you can't really do with in game rockets because it needs some complex math a person can't really be expected to do

dawn crater
#

also you could loft from behind cover with no target selected, and have a buddy lase the target

dawn crater
# reef hawk How do you buddy lase

person B fires rockets, person A must select the targets they want to kill. Person A's aircraft will automatically lase any selected target if within 10km (indicated by red arrows in the targeting screen). Chicane can lase 4, Cricket can lase 2, everything else can only lase 1 at a time. Afterwards, person B's rockets will guide towards the lased targets.

but as an opportunity to talk about it,

ccip is very useful for close range launches, even with guided rockets. and we already have bomb ccip.
