Hold on, don't jump to the pitchforks let me explain

This third faction can be edited, their name and logo can be set. It will only be mission maker specific and can be set alliance as whatever mission maker wishes to do so, and can make them hostile to both parties, friendly or neutral.

I can see this being a good addition to mission maker tools so people can make more immersive campaigns with it.

Extra points if people can make as many custom factions as possible using mission maker.

We should have 8 or 10 factions in total imo. Maybe even more if its not too difficult to add. 2 default ones and the rest there just for the mission makers. You could do a lot of interesting stuff with it.

Put each player in a different team and you can make racing tracks with separate waypoints for each one of them. Make a mission where there are 4 or 6 teams, each with their own airfield and watch as alliances form and fall apart.

A bit more and It could become a open-world simulation with logistics, diplomacy and civil flights.

Like X3 or X4, or like Elite Dangerous, but... Not in the space.

I played a lot back in time to one, somehow. It had many names depending on region and updates: Space Cowboy, Air Rivals, Ace Online... techcnically they were like starships but as most of it was over planet surface it was somehow a "futuristic planes combat game". Ofc piloting mechanics were very arcade-ish, but it had levels, skills, equipment, ship classes or roles (DPS, support/healer, bomber...) was quite fun in terms of combat and had some layers of tactics and strategy, but also was very grindy and ofc P2W. Have been looking for "something like it" (minus the negatives, i mean) for long time, no success.

I feel like were fairly close to making a game mode like this a reality, but that depends on how difficult it would be to add the following:
-random events
-per base resource storage (ammo, fuel, nukes. Something ships already kinda do)
-more teams
-more maps (thats WIP already)
-yoinking containers (and other things) full of goodies (slingload, also WIP).
-capturable vehicle depots
-team invites/team switching (so people can fly as unassociated pilots too)

just lore wise I can think of awesome ways 3rd factions could be introduced. Like even though the civil war is over a group from the side that lost, now seen as a terrorist cell plagues PALA and the bdf may have to target PALA's Stategic assets to avoid them falling into this 3rd factions hands, which PALA would see as an act of war hence sparking the conflict ingame creating a 3 way battle

A third faction could be just some "World Peacekeepers" (real or pretended). Just think of NATO on balcanic wars on the 90´s. It could also be argued about "4 factions", puting to play that both, Primeva and Boscali, are somehwo also used as proxy in a war between bigger blocks (Like NATO vs Warsow Pact)

given their reliance on imported/licence-produced stuff, i definitely think PALA's some degree of proxy or similar. not sure about BDF though, they seem to be more self-reliant even though they're a small player on the world stage

my idea is a rebel or terrorist faction, they would use more cold war designed vehicles, they could base them off cold war prototypes like the Object 770 tank, Sikorsky S-75, Aerocraft Stealth Star 204 SS helicopter, Saab 35 Draken fighter jet, Lockheed XV-4 Hummingbird VTOL, obviously it wouldn't be these vehicles but its an example, they would be more classic and rough, not super smooth like the vehicles we got now

I agree, not only would it give us a look of the cold war designed aircraft each faction operated it would bring a group that could appear randomly through a match attacking either both factions or allying themselves with a single faction giving you the ability to spawn from their base and operate their aircraft or fight their aircraft if they decide to fight your faction, their bases would be more makeshift with a sand or dirt runway with older concept designed anti aircraft vehicles protecting the base, the aircraft would spawn inside a tent like hanger, this would represent hat they never stay in one place and always move around, thoughts?

no those would be mostly useless, the only use I could see from those aircraft would be hard to detect ww2 fighter bombers like the P-47 or SBD that would be free but useful to drop bombs on bases

I am looking at the mod now but even as I look at all the aircraft they all look similar to designs I have seen in the past, the FQ-112 Reign holds similar rebalance to the Russian tyrant design that has no name, here's a photo instead, and the XQ-08 Wraith looks like a drone version of the NGAD, more specifically the version I am adding the photo of, the FQ-102 seems to be based off of a cruse missile, either the Taurus KEPD-350, Apache, or Storm Shadow/SCALP EG, I do not know Cruse missiles to well, the XQ-11 Spectre seems to be a mix of the UJ-25 Skyline Drone and the Boeing MQ-28 Ghost bat drone, the SAH-48 Feint is a modified SAH-46 Chicane, the modified version adds many aspects from the Russian Kamov Ka-52 Alligator with the original aspects from the Boeing–Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche that the SAH-46 Chicane have

it does look awesome, but to be honest for a game set so far ahead in the future I would expect to see fighters that dogfight in space, with the advancements today in air-space travel like the dream chaser, humanity is trying to explore space and we wont stop till we succeed so seeing fighter jets that are based off designs you see today is really disappointing, if it was set in the 2050's or 2040's then I think it would fit much better

Yea something like this, personally I would love a new Space dogfighting game but I’m happy with this one, I love the game we have I’m just saying for the timeframe we got, again humanity has advanced its technology so damn fast since ww2 that we could see the first space jet by 2040, the fact that by 2080 in this game they still haven’t developed the tech I think makes no sense, if they wanted to make a game like this I think a year like 2040 or 2050 would fit far better than the 2080’s, I’m just saying the timeframe doesn’t fit the conflict

That makes a little more sense but even then I think it’s a bad move on their end setting the game so far ahead in time, that way you can’t be able to operate some of the most beautiful pieces of history around

that would actually make so much more sense, only nations that have enough money to build space crafts that can push through the debris or space net like items to keep the space over their nation open likely would be the only ones who could resume exploring space, and if we do consider what LE-8 keeps saying bout them being poor that would make more sense, now next question is why no hover carrier

This is very off topic, but you know what would be neat? Make the lore so the richer contries tend to go out and colonize space and the poorer ones stay down on Earth to produce metallic hydrogen (because cheaper labor). Metallic hydrogen is supposed to be an amazing rocket fuel. Anyway, what would be neat is seeing some large space habitat (an O'Neill cylinder or something else equally massive) pass overhead every now and then to remind you thats whats actually happening.

Then explain the whole war with BDF and PALA fighting over monopoly over the production of the fuel.

Kinda like that crappy Elysium movie, but whatever, its just background to justify metallic hydrogen.

Tl;dr: i want to see a cool space station in the sky

I recently noticed that neutral enrichment plants dont produce nukes. If we had a couple more factions we could localize warhead production to only a couple (or just one) airfields. Basically, set Feldspar to Faction 3 and give it a single enrichment plant. Now, because that plant is a part of an "active" faction it starts producing nukes and delivering them to the ammo bunkers on Feldspar.

An easier solution would be being able to put warheads directly into individual bunkers.
