You could surely implement them in a way thats interesting but the issue is that a big part of this game are the destruction visuals.
A submarine surfacing to deploy piledrivers could be cool and maybe having specialised weapons to take them out when they are underwater would work but thats not visual so its unsatisfying.
One could always follow what Ace Combat did with the Scinfaxis and Alicorn and just have a giant underwater explosion after the boat sinks from the surface or if its killed underwater, but that seems kinda overused imo
Even though SLBMs usually pop out from the water via compressed air, I'd say that'd be balanced if torps and other ASUW equipment wouldn't be added
Even if they are not added to the game, I would still like to see what a sub made by mitch would look like. I ADORE every vehicle in this game and just want to see more.
while like... yeah, i agree the submarine part is boring, but if it let's us fly some kinda arcadey form of ASW, I think it'd be kinda neat, and it'd give airframes like cricket and tarantula something new to do, and could open the doors to future multirole utility aircraft with asw as one of their primary roles. stuff like S-3.

I think anti submarine warfare is interesting enough to add imo, would give ships other things to hunt down and players more stuff to kill

That part was more to provide an idea for destruction graphics, not necessarily mechanics tho

I would like subs but as a really late addition into this game well after a lot of other gameplay is properly fleshed out.
Submarines would require a ton of attention and a lot of things to be added all at once to work properly and not be annoying.
You would need a way to detect them so sonar and therefore sonar carrying aircraft, you would then need weapons to destroy them so a whole bunch of new additions to the loadouts. As well as that the AI would need to be reworked to understand depth and not hit the ocean floor.
To add submarines they would need a lot of dedicated effort that could be spent elsewhere.
I would love an ASW Ibis.

Honestly the idea of an SSGN that can mess up your base with cruise missiles if you don't find it in time could be fun. But you need alot of submarine specific mechanics just to make it work (ASW, torps ect)
honestly , leave it to modders in the future
