As it says on the tin, I would like a Time to Direct Impact timer added to the target display in the cockpit, counting T-minus to estimated impact for the last launched weapon on the way to last selected target, where T-minus would the time travelling to the target, T-0 would be estimated impact time, and T-plus continue to tick for approximately 25% of the total travel time to help account for midflight corrections if the weapon didn't already impact.
Something like this would be a boon in high stress situations where you can't check the map because you're dodging a missile, or in a dogfight.
EDIT: Some of the things discussed would be the following
- TTDI just the term I took from DCS world, Time to Impact (TTI) would be just fine.
- If a detailed implementation is done, a small TTI timer next to the target's HUD indicator would be ideal.
- If a more primitive implementation is done, a TTI timer in the aircraft's HUD (below AoA indicator?) for the last launched weapon against the current target, clearing the timer if a new target is selected.
- A TTI timer on the target display camera would be good for assessing if you need to send another missile, in the case of aircraft.
- In the case of multiple weapons on target, track the one that was launched last, because if you're launching continuous ordnance at a target, you're paying enough attention to know when they hit.
- If a more detailed implementation is taken, track the Time To Impact of first launched weapon, resetting the time to the next incoming weapon on target on the impact of the first weapon. Last launched was assumed to be easier to implement.
