So, IR missiles rework
just flare detection rework, mitch has said this could be feasible and wound bring much of a performance impact, though that was a couple of months ago
Is it true that when a missile is fired, it randomly selects a heat source in its FOV.
I ask because I usually pop flares when I fire AGMs in hopes of diverting some of their IR missiles, is this just a waste of time?
The game does say that pre-flaring is a good idea as it could prevent a rocket launch
no, missiles dont have a FOV. instead, the missile selects a random heat source within of its target, be that an engine or one of its flares
selects a random heat source within ?200m*? of its target.
But missiles or ejection seats do not count as a viable heat source?
Forbidden heat source?
The sun
Only if you get within 200 meters of the sun.
Damn well I'm not a space ship
no, just the targets flares and its own engines
It would be nice if at least missiles also counted, even counted a bit as flares. (and ejection seats too). And any aircraft part which is on fire and falls of the airplane
Mfw the missile that was locked on my plane reacquires my seat after ejecting
also its a 100m radius
Sad
