#Tarantula no cargo bay option/variant for extremely heavy cargo

So there I was, getting my rear blasted by a SAM and watching my entire cargo bay fall off and the poor sods in the IFV plummet to their deaths - assuming the missile hadn't already done that - when I thought to myself This tarantula sure does fly well with the cargo bay removed

By removing the cargo bay the tarantula might just be able to get off the floor with an MBT or small boat strapped to the bottom. Obviously it would need a new set of rear wheels and some other method of carrying it.

If this would be too large of a change for the load out editor this could be added as an alternative airframe with potentially upgraded engines and less armour to shave off a bit more weight.

More interestingly than a weight increase, this would let it carry outsize loads.

Would be awesome seeing it being able to carry small boats if this is added

Shaving off the cargo bay is bound to increase the number a little

Also removing some armour and some weapons with their corresponding computers.

The tarantulas listed max weight is 53.5t but can take off vertically at 59t. It weighs 29.33t with 5% fuel so if we're generous and shave off half of that by removing the cargo bay, armour, and all weapons except the missiles or something we can get a dry weight of 15t.

A spearhead is out of the question at 71t but a Type 12 at 59t + 15t dry weight +3.5t of fuel (40%) means you're trying to get this off the floor at 77.5t or 125% capacity.

No VTOL but I think with a long rolling take off and flying with angled engines most of the time it's doable.
I would say that this would hardly be the standard use of this, more likely you would use it for moving more than 2 munitions crates or lighter vehicles that are still above the standard tarantula size or weight limit

But anyway, what of the rear landing gears ? Those need the bay structure to exist. What do you suggest ? Long struts ? Or are we keeping a reinforced and rampless back section for that purpose and reducing the carryable max length ?

If the cargo is held in suspension then the gear doesn't need to carry the weight of the cargo just the rear section

Wow that is unreadable

I don’t think mods can significantly change the structure of an airframe like that
