With the cricket's STOL capabilities I feel like it should be able to perform rescues, even if https://discord.com/channels/909034158205059082/1273653655467331606 is sadly not added soon.

How about equipment drops? Small packages that a cricket can drop near downed pilots that'll trigger them to start moving towards the nearest friendly unit, where they get rescued. It would let the cricket do SAR stuff, but less effectively than a VTOL and nerfed.
