Now development of hypersonic missiles is a trend among most technologically advanced countries so in 2070s the will be at service.

Pros:

  • Wery hard to intercept via close range AA
  • Can penetrate hardened structures and bunkers
  • Can be outfitted with both conventional and nuclear warheads

Cons:

  • Can not evade much on trajectory
  • Require certain altitude and velocity to perform a launch
  • Very expensive compared to other missiles
  • Can be somewhat inaccurate(you can not hit an MBT with it, perhaps you wouldn't need to)

Although it could be difficult to balance since nowadays hypersonic missiles seem invincible when they are deployed in real combat.

But nah it’d be a cool add. Maybe both ballistic and cruise variants, would provide the darkreach with a unique standoff capability

We need a much bigger map for things like this. But it would be cool and good. Just can't be take off->launch->free kill

I think if we get an ALBM/HGV then the ifrit could carry it, similar to the MiG-31 and the Killjoy. But hypersonic ALCM I think would be too much

that wouldnt exactly help with other planes getting neglected, would do the opposite even, why use a subsonic bomber when theres a supersonic one available

Maybe when faction-specific aircraft come, and even then it’d need to be pretty carefully balanced.

Darkreach is a better strike aircraft than bomber though, and could use a metric assload of hypersonics.

Though I think Revoker and Ifrit should get a hypersonic long range radar missile

I'd be fine with it as long as it doesn't get a nuclear warhead and has a limited range
probably not longer than 20km
either the limited range or something to stop you from firing them right after taking off like with regular cruise missiles
there really need to be more counters to SPAAGs
as it is the only effective counters are lynchpin spam and maybe augers if you get lucky

Yep. Without nuclear warhead!
Must be powerfull warhead 2-5 tons.
Maybe little longer distance, near 30-50 KM, will be aircraft will be in safe.
And... Need make speed will be it not be OP, but will be hard to destroy it from ground AA, and enough easy to destroy it from aircrafts.

Hypersonic air to ground missiles should be high range, as is their intended use, to give the Darkreach an alternative standoff munition if you'd prefer a faster, but easier detected munition compared to the slow and easily destroyed cruise missiles thst fly under the radar

Theoretically they'd be about as effective as each other

Mach 1-2 if you launch it immediately upon takeoff, plus the added possibility of it crashing into terrain.
