I always was fascinated by those project where they tried to come up with mitigation strategies for world where airplanes still were the prime delivery vehicle over ICBMs and the airfields very vulnerable to nuking.. which is kind of also a game element in nuklear option.

Yeah, there is definately a reason why it went nowhere.. appart from occasionally choppy seas that are not such a great always predicable landing surface for high speed touchdowns
