It's like a rocket.... with a man in it! (This actually was an advertisement pitch for the object you see on the picture here)

Mechanically? 1 to multiple use installation which houses a few planes on those launch platforms. Benefits? They are hiding and while definitely can be destroyed from air, must be scouted out first.

Instant takeoff tiny airfield with very limited amount of uses, that you can't land on. Maybe would house nuclear-armed Revokers or something similarly speedy, and be unlocked as the escalation goes on.

I realized you can't see where it's launching from

It's literally a truck trailer

thing is, aircraft in this game can already take-off extremely quickly

at that point you could just use a ballistic missile

I used the balistic missile to lauch the ballistic missiles

I heard you like missiles so I made your plane into a missile so you can missile while you missile

Maybe JATO bottles as a loadout option? Like you have less armament but you have a quicker takeoff as an emergency in case your airfields are in danger of being overrun

I don’t know how common JATO is in the field, since platforms like the C-130 and C-17 are pretty capable STOL planes thanks to beefy engines and high lift-to-drag ratios.

ZLL would be an interesting concept, but I think it makes sense to dedicate it to lightweight interceptors which is why they slapped rockets on the F-104 and F-100 when they tested the technology in the ‘50s

To my understanding it isn't used at all in any actual operational capacity. Anything under the Zero-Length or related umbrellas was originally meant to overcome challenges with early aircraft having too-poor TtW or being too hot for reasonable horizontal takeoff lengths and when that is no longer an issue, there's no need to look into J/RATO systems.

#

When it's used nowadays, it's because it's a show of "Hey look rockets on a plane is cool" rather than "This is actually useful."

perhaps a rocket fighter as a air to air cricket equivalent

I’m not sure if it would work, only because part of the reason that countries haven’t had a rocket-powered fighter since the Me 163, BI, or Natter is because they were very short-range and meant to intercept bombers that are almost on target. Large maps and the use of missiles kind of negate the need to have that kind of aircraft in NO

i suppose so but since metallic Hydrogen is a fuel source in the game there could have more efficient rockets

the C130s in Antarctica regularly use boosters because of short runways

#

however in nuclear option we have longer runways, but i have an even shorter patience

I mean, considering that in Nuclear Option, the nuclear option is not out of question, the amount of time the planes stay on the runway is critically important for delivering friendship presents to your friends, before they will do the same. Mutually assured friendship, so to say
