One aspect I've always felt the mod was lacking is a way to convey more detailed information to players. Many mechanics, such as how discomfort can be alleviated by sitting in a car seat or on the ground for a while, how hygiene improves gradually when cleaning in any body of water, or the functions of perfumes, music notebooks, and other items, remain unclear. Players often have to figure these things out on their own through trial and error or by seeking help online, which isn't ideal.
To address this, I’m implementing a "notes system" as a first step towards some better guidance. These notes will trigger based on specific actions, such as using certain items or interacting with particular mechanics. They’re designed to provide short and helpful tips, but can be expanded with additional information when necessary (by clicking "?", which opens a larger panel with more detailed information).
To keep the notes unobtrusive, they appear briefly at the top of the screen and fade away after a few seconds. Most notes can also be permanently disabled to prevent it from appearing again. Hopefully this will help bridge some of the knowledge gap and make the mod more intuitive and accessible to everyone.

With the introduction of the new beauty system (read more here: #1269299690478768214 message), players will need a quick and intuitive way to assess how each tile contributes to a room’s overall beauty score. Taking inspiration from RimWorld’s beauty info UI, this system allows players to simply hover their mouse over the beauty moodle to display a score above each surrounding tile.
Each number represents the total beauty value of that tile, combining all contributing elements. For example, a wooden floor might add +1 to beauty. If that same tile has blood on it (which has a beauty value of -20), the displayed score would drop to -19. Cleaning the blood restores the score to +1, and placing a sculpture worth +50 beauty on the same tile would increase the total to +51.
The beauty scores update only when the player initially hovers over the moodle or when the character moves. The system is fully client-side and designed for compatibility with mods that highlight floors. Since no actual values are written to the tiles, there's no need for syncing with the server in multiplayer games. The displayed scores are also influenced by your character’s traits, for instance: a tile with trash may score differently depending on whether your character is a neat freak or sloppy.

The Ambition system is the coolest thing I've ever seen brought to Zomboid
So it seems that after the revert, my server is now only getting the file mismatch issue we were discussing in that previous thread
It may still be an issue on my end, currently redownloading now to check, but at the very least I'm pretty sure it's properly updated on my server now
😩 Still not working, guess I'm just going to have to wait for another hotfix to come out from the Devs that doesn't break every MP server.
In fact I know for sure that my server is downloading updates because I was able to update the SVU 3 Vanilla Addon

Hi, i've been trying to place a disco floor but it wouldn't let me. Tried to place it on wooden floor as instructed but it's still highlighted red
Wondering if this is a bug or am I missing something like a hidden requirement?
Use the brush tool (Admin) if you want to place the disco floor 🙂

yes, hold Q and select the spiffo
all ambitions you've unlocked should appear at the right side of the menu
the ones still locked/hidden will appear greyed out

@knotty nebula @ivory edge using brushtools for disco floors might lead to unexpected issues as it did during very early testing, but it could also be attributted to the very early state the feature was in at the time. This is how you add disco floors normally:

yes! You can add new ambitions by inserting a new line into the ambitions table located at client/Properties/Player/LSAmbitions.lua
Follow the instructions inside the same file to learn about each parameter.
The system is modular and designed to be simple to use, open some of the ambitions at client/ISAmbt to learn how to interact with the system

Last time I posted I was talking about inventions and how some of them would be able to be improved trough research. Happy to report that the improvement system is completely in and working as a modular framework, which should cut the time I take to make new gadgets by a lot. When you create a gadget it will have all the improvements you had researched for it at the time it was created. To make accessing this information easy and simple, you can keep track of all improvements, modifiers and effects on any given machine trough a convenient tooltip. Here's a short demonstration with the "Hygienator" as an example:

no, it's going to be its own thing, but the mod had to be entirely restructured for compatibility with b42 MP and that took a few months worth of work
