I've been in a couple servers that have a dedicated channel where you can go to be tilted (within reason) about ranked stuff or just to pop off for a second. I think this might help with some of the increase of negativity in the main discussion channel. But I also know how admins and mods feel about toxicity so I understand if that's not an option.

I think it would be useful ! I've found myself wanting one to just go GAHHHHHHHHHHHH B R I D G E T PRESSURE or similar

Especially since you're right, there has been an uptick in negativity in main

I think this would be a decent addition ngl. in the may discord server there is a salt corner and its worked really well and i know that has more members than here

I’m down for this. Mostly cause there’s been a lot of people recently just saying things to get they’re feelings off they’re chest but only do it in like the main gg discussions in order for it to get seen, and although it’s healthy to get the feelings out whatever is said can be detrimental to someone else

We don’t encourage the outpoor of negativity in this server, it’s not what it was created nor intended for. We remain to keep this a positive environment and salt channel will be an active detriment to that effort

That's fair enough - though maybe there needs to be some rules around excessive negativity/dooming

Like there's a difference between "I'm really struggling and feel like i've hit a wall - I can't figure out what I can improve anymore" and just "I'm bad, I'll always be bad and I'm going to be hostile if you try and help"

Opening the door to allow negativity to fester regardless of the reasoning behind it will only result in more of it brewing as a result. This question has been brought up numerous times and the answer will always be no because it goes against the core principle of making this a casual and friendly environment for newcomers and veterans alike

That's kinda what I figured. But in that case I think there needs to be more done about the negativity that's in the main channel because it's getting offputting. It's very regular at this point and bordering on toxic at times. Reprimands have been mostly shrugged off.

I don't mind there not being a salt channel. That was just a potential solution. But if that's not a viable solution I think there needs to be a harder boundary to support the server's ethos

Sorry if I am coming on too strong with this. It's just been really frustrating lately and has been getting harder to ignore.

No it’s completely justifiable, the state of the server has definitely deteriorated from past glory and issues like this have become greater than they ever have been before

With the amount of salt leaking into the other channels I don't have a definitive answer. Yet

Yeah I agree as well. Feels like there kinda needs to be a bit more of a lockdown on this behavior since it’s become more common and problematic. Also I wanna suggest having a bit more of a rule on excessive self depreciation too, since too much of that tends to get inexperienced players very concerted as well as being hard to interact with when someone is mentally down in the dumps
