If i had Primed Sure Footed I would toss that in there too in the exilus spot but alas
The plan is to abuse Shield Gating by spamming abilities fueled by the extra energy orb drops to stay healthy. Since I can crank armor with the 3 and strip armor with everything else once it's up, I think it'll be pretty strong in Steel Path

I'll try it out, but the plan is using 3 Augur mods for the passive with Brief Respite for a total of 270% energy converted to shield on cast as long as I don't have overshield. With Catalyzing Shields, my invuln from time shield gating goes up to 1.33s.
With Catalyzing Shields I also get a 0.2× modifier for my shield, bringing the total down to 130.
So this means, by casting Hydroid 2, I restore 50×2.7=135 shield which caps my shield and gives me the full 1.33s invuln window for damage, which is plenty of time to cast another ability to refresh the shield and reset the invuln window.
Breech Surge instead of Hydroid 2, my b. Hydroid 2 costs nothing

The downside to this is toxin clouds and arson eximus, but I don't think arson will Crack the shield with Catalyzing Shields. Since this is a stationary farm build focusing on maximizing drops in SP, there should be enough HP orbs to combat toxin but I would have to see

But like, his options for self heals aren't really all that good
He has flame ward, healing which you have to wait out to re cast cause you can't switch elems mid cast and recast to overwrite the first wards effect
Genuinely if I could heal on flame ward, switch back to ice, and recast ice ward to keep the HP and get the new ward effect (at the cost of extra energy) that'd be great

Chroma rn basically has 2.5 good abilities
You have ward for the buffs based on elem (fire/hp, elec/shields, toxin/reload/holsterspeed, and Ice/armor) vex armor (which buffs armor when your shields get hit, and buffs overall damage when HP is hit)
Other than that you have spectral scream (which is kind of eeehhh), the main use for it is being able to swap his element mid misson, instead of it being based on your energy color.
And....effigy
Which ditches basically all your cosmetics/armor for a dragon turret that uses a CC roar/spectral scream when schmucks get near it. But also gives you a slight speed boost.
Which tbf, is better than how he used to be (2 good abilities, and you basically never really got to use 3/4 versions of one of those abilities cause ice was the defacto best option 9/10 times)

With the prime it reloads all 20 shots in 3 seconds, but you cant reload one individually->shoot immediately
