#Fighting Game Newbie Always Losing Neutral

Strive is my first fighting game and I'm stuck around floor 4. I started about a week or two ago and I'm maining testament. It feels like every game I'm losing neutral constantly and getting stuck in the corner because of it. I've tried other characters to see if it was just my testament but I lose neutral with them too whether it be a rush down, zoner, or grappler. Any advice or coaching would be greatly appreciated

Hi there. The way you play it is going to be a bit different on each character, and especially between a two-step neutral character like testament and something simpler like a rushdown. Do you have any clips or replays we could use to get an idea of what's happening?

Unfortunately I won't be at my computer for a while so I don't have a replay right now so I'll try to give a general idea of what's happening. Against non-zoners they always seem to get in even with my zoning tools so I'm forced to block. I use a good amount of fireballs plus crow and some arbiter sign and I try to 6p on jump in if I remember. It seems like most of my time is spent blocking and not applying pressure. I have this problem on other characters too where I spend the majority of time blocking/getting punished
