Overall notes

Need to work on hit confirms. Lots of stray hits that went nowhere. Dummy on random guard can help with that. Along these same lines press buttons with a purpose. “I’m going to do A then B”. You don’t have to be perfect but upping your conversion rates will increase your win percentage

DR cannot be the main party starter. Use your M pokes to establish a ground game first. That will open up DR as a skip for more unexpected pressure. If it’s the majority of your offense it’s predictable and easy to counter poke

AA. Absolutely have to represent this

Idk if this happens a lot but in all 3 games I saw you respecting reversals frequently. If you have them cornered and have a life lead take your oki. If they reversals out they are down 2 bricks and still on the wrong part of the stage

Need more auto timed meaties that won’t get mashed on. You have the dash forward +2 after getting a stock one and that’s the main one I saw. 3 is a good number to start with and creates a cycle where their guess is worse than a coin flip which means it’s more in your favor to be correct

#

Situations by Game

#

Game 1

+23 KD and got mashed on because you went for a manually timed throw. Learn a frame kill for that KD it’s a really common one for Juri

+22 after level 3 also got mashed on

+38 after dive kick and got mashed on

You should be killing people for disrespecting your plus frames like this. Even only converting off one of these situations would have won this match for you

Auto pilot DRC > burnout- 3 times. Be more mindful of your meter

Cannot DI through FB on reaction has to be a read

#

—————————————————

#

Game 2

-3 and pressed 5HP got CH. Stealing turns is ok but usually not against people we play a lot

Clip people walking out of pressure with lows

If your opponent is walking backwards away from you GOOD. Let them. There’s no urgency here you’re already winning the screen game

When going for throws in the corner or just opponent cornered in general; watch for the jump out. They are already cornered you are winning. Doing nothing is strong here

#

—————————————————

#

Game 3

More walking out of your pressure. Add some low checks in to keep them honest

More mashing on your plus frames

More letting Ryu jump while cornered

#

Your Strengths

#

Very patient on defense. Very few yolo reversals/supers/mashing. This is AWESOME and will take you very far once you get your offense dialed in

shell cave
#

the lows is something im aware of and i always give myself hell for not doing it. normally the more i play in the day the better i get at being aware of it. the hit confirms is on and off day to day with lights. most of my 5hp that hit that day i tried to fuha cancel and it should would not come out. i assume im still delaying the buffer too long but missing the fuha timing but still doing it just means i gotta keep at it and ill eventually get it. youre right on the dive kick but its such a yolo option that i only really reserve for like 3 mus i never actually bothered looking into what my oki is in those.

#

the medium pokes so i can dr in is my biggest issue against sherlocks ryu right now cuz either im doing it wrong or my next layer i dont know what to do

#

cuz i try and hold ground with my mediums but im getting punished for it

oblique yarrow
#

For most characters, the uncancellable pokes are what hold their ground game together. A lot of them when you hit them at near max range will put you in optimal spacing for setting up traps. Then you can use the threat of those traps to advacne and hit a button.

#

That's how I use Ryu's 5mk.

shell cave
#

as for the anti air stuff i do a lot better of them in ranked. i feel sherlock just knows when to jump and always jumps moments after i stop looking for the option

#

but thanks for the insight. lots of stuff to think about

oblique yarrow
#

I agree wtih Smoke on that. I almost never get anti-aired by you to the point I feel like I am skipping neutral all the time.

shell cave
#

there was one replay i was going to post where i anti aired well but then i dropped the game ending combo and i was like

#

not worth showing

#

as for confirms i havnt found a way i like to practice them in sf6

#

doing 5hp-fuha is easy enough to put enemy on random block

oblique yarrow
#

You throw away a lot of damage by missing st.hp confirms.

shell cave
#

but if i wanna practice jab confirms its super annoying when the second or 3rd jab doesnt get blocked

oblique yarrow
#

Eh

#

I don't think even strong players confirm like the last jab connecting.

#

The main confirms to learn are the ones that represent like 30% damage or something. You are leaving a game winning amounts of damage when you don't confirm heavy starters.

#

Also like smoke pointed out, you burn through a lot of drive gauge without getting much in return.

#

Also, as someone who has played you a lot, I would add some counterpoint to your reversal usage. I think you are very patient, until you aren't. You often find yourselves in round losing points in round 3 and I can 100% predict the level 3.

#

I think you have more opporutnities to spend meter defensively. I think blocking is good, but my Ryu pressure is very basic that you can afford to call me out by reversalling a bit more.

#

Other than that, I agree with most of Smoke's assessment. You try to be very greedy with your plus frames a lot of times. 9/10 times, a frame trap is what is going to get the job done. I think you try to bait throw techs and delay buttons a lot and mistime your pressure. So, I get a lot of ground by mashing on your offense.

shell cave
#

yea i know ive been messing around with different timings. sometimes i would try and delay my oki cuz i know you are doing delay mash and i think i mostly stopped that and seeing what you are trying to do and then next interaction just go for meaty. i do bait too much but i only notice that in hindsight. in my head during the match i feel like it was forever ago since i last did that

#

but then looking at the replay it was literally 24 seconds ago and in that 24 seconds 18 was just footsies

wide blaze
#

Just so I’m clear SK I think he needs to be more greedy with his oki. The only reason you got away with mashing is because he tried to freestyle some manual shit which in this game is sooo soo bad unless you’re literally a pro. If he had some auto timed frame kills for those KDs you would have (rightfully) exploded for mashing there

i also feel im paralyzing myself with options by not doing anything. theres this super fucking annoying spacing sherlock has on ryu where its just outside of 2mp/2mk range so i dont want to whiff something cuz fireball is so good at punish countering. but then all it is ryu has to micro walk and hit stmk then back dash.

wide blaze
shell cave
#

and i just dont really have an answer other than its fine if i get hit cuz ryu doesnt get any damage but if he messes up once im buffering a drive rush and can get a deadly combo

#

but its so frustrating when i feel im just a punching bag letting ryu control the neutral 79% of the time

I was referring to a lot of times where I would like block st.mp out of drive rush and he would jsut walk back. So, I am usually like "great, let me walk out real quick".

forest sage
#

Because technically speaking. You waiting for a mistake is a mistake if someone just like hits you

slender cliff
#

am I crazy or is aki's best anti-air option to a crossup just literally to h snake crawl away and deny the interaction at all

#

like if they jump and you know it'll cross you up, fuck it just go away

#

5hk is pretty solid if they're well in front and hp claw is great if they're straight above and/or slightly ahead, but crossup? it feels like none of her anti-airs work for that and even if you jump to meet them if you do it on reaction you're gonna get sniped it feels like

Oh wow okay that's pretty wild
