Ok I beat this game two weeks ago and I still feel utterly unsettled by that ending ||WHAT THE FUCK. EVERYONE NEEDS THERAPY. ESPECIALLY THE AI.||

||that character is on screen for about three minutes before being overridden by essentially another aspect of its creator and it still ended up being the best character in the game. And I love a lot of characters in this game! It feels like the AI and the PPP embodied two very different sides of the professor (I played Violet so I'm gonna talk about Turo but of course everything applies to Sada too). The AI was the compassionate and intelligent side that loved Arven and sacrificed himself to save Miraidon, while the PPP was the cold and zealous side that drove away everyone close to him and was willing to sacrifice Paldea itself for his research. And the very fact that someone that willing to destroy the region to further his studies DID give his life to save someone shows that he was far more complex than I think even Arven realized. The AI said that he had underestimated the Guardian's power, which means it's likely that he didn't know the attack would be fatal, but he still had to have know he was putting himself in danger to protect Miraidon. And given how far gone the journals indicate he was at the time, to do so must have been quite unpredictable even for the AI to manage||

And I wonder...||if he had survived, would he have come to the same conclusion the AI did, that such destruction was illogical? Would he have realized that he still did have a compassionate heart underneath everything and that he couldn't rightfully go ahead with the rest of the experiment? Or would the sunk cost have been too great, causing him to dig in even harder? We'll never know.
I think his death is what must have made the AI come to this realization. We know the AI has emotions, but despite having Turo's memories, would have put his own losses at a distance. losing its creator and thinking how just one death was so impactful, compared to the destruction posed to the region...the AI likely couldn't justify those things||
