It's kinda hard to say since they're both pretty different with different strengths and weaknesses.
P5R is newer, so it shares a lot of the mechanics with P3R. However, P4G's a really solid game in it's own right and, despite being older, is still a really good Persona Game.
Sounds like an idea! Just so ya know though, each game has it's own story, so there's no need to play them in sequence outside of a couple nods and references

P4AU you can definitely skip. It’s canon yes but its story is not important to the overall persona story and it lacks the writing quality. Not to mention it’s a fighting game which makes it not quite like a “persona game”

I use this guy since he averages 1500 dmg without charging.

I’d just give him stuff like ice boost and amp, along with him learning freeze boost. Then if you wanna get lost of dmg give him some skills that increase damage for AOE spells and Single target spells

I took Yukari, Aigis, and Mitsuru.
Yukari really just needs the item that makes the user immune to all effects.
