My thoughts (spoilered to avoid bias): ||I agree. I feel like her design has 0 ties to the Cyrene/Mem that has been with TB since the beginning, and it's pretty jarring. Feels like she's alien. Doesn't even fit in with the varied styles of Amphoreus, it's so far and apart from everything else.||

For me, her "redesign" is one of the reasons I'm having no problem skipping her. Her normal design with the purple coat was really cool, and I honestly liked it a lot. But having her (for some reason) transform into what is essentially "HI3 fan service, the character" for no clear reason (at the moment) just takes away from her established character for me. Granted, I'm only going off the drip marketing, but I'm not really a fan of what I've seen.

Story, I'm assuming. Her character-focused story chapter was more of a comedy-focused story that sacrificed her character/plot development for funny stuff. She has gotten more development since, but it's rare for her to be the sole focus.

The cost of being one of the first Sinners to get a Canto before the devs had figured out how they wanted to tell the story

Cantos are the main story chapters, with most of the sinners getting one so far. We're currently at 8 out of 12 (maybe 13), with Canto 9 coming soon.

Most development outside Cantos happen in Intervallos, which are basically Limbus' version of limited-time events. Though the stories from those are permanent additions.

Mainly because most of them canonically happen between each main chapter

Since they've been experimenting with Swirl DPS as of late (like Chasca, Mizuki and Ifa), I wouldn't be surprised if Varka ends up being the first super powerful Swirl DPS. Though I could also see them going the pure Anemo DPS route since we haven't had one of those in a while.
