I was watching a random Nikke video and the guy said "idk why would you play this waifu game if you care about meta in a game" and this sort of made me remember that some people just treat these games way differently from how I treat them

and I noticed recently that I'm sort of a meta slave in so many variety of games, if there's a know way to optimize something in a game even its a relatively easy or a pure singleplayer game I often resort to meta stuff
more so in subsequent playthroughs if the game in question has good replay value
I think its also exasperated from the nature of the gacha system, you can't just play any character you want most of the time, you have to invest weeks worth of currency and playtime into them to be able just unlock them, so you have to be extra picky with your choices
whereas in a Fighter you can just stick to a mid or low tier character that you're comfortable with the thought that you can always switch later on if you wish

I tend to follow the meta until I can reliably clear all content with my current roster, then after that I just play to have fun and go for whoever I like
For example in Genshin, I picked up Navia and Clorinde despite the fact that I was pretty neutral when it came to their personality and story. However, they're both powerful DPS characters that I had good characters for, so they helped me get to the point where I could reliably 36 Star the Abyss
While I've been struggling with this one, it's more the case that I just don't have the right characters for the several account checks it has (like wanting Melt on side 1 or Kinich/Chasca/Mavuika on side 2)

Xiao's best team is easily Top 10 (though very reliant on niche premium supports)
Hu Tao is still perfectly viable, though she's generally out-performed by Arlecchino and Mavuika, but not by too much
Ganyu's the only one who's really fallen off a fair bit, bit that's mainly because Cryo's in a pretty bad spot overall right now
Honestly, the only 1.0 characters that just aren't doing well currently are Albedo (since Chiori's just a better version of him) and Eula (because Phyisical has only gotten a single dedicated support character since her release, and he's not even that good)

Yanfei's an alright choice, though she's noticebly weaker at C0 than at C6
Lan Yan's a really solid shielder, even at C0 that gets noticeably better at C2. She pairs well with Arlecchino and most ATK-scaling characters that appreciated a shielder and VV.
Xingqiu's C2 is also pretty strong if memory serves, since I think it's the one that Gives him 15% Hydro RES Shred which is pretty powerful in the right teams.
