Think it works by shared damage I think, not necessarily just killing them. For the skill it looks like it debuffs them including making them even weaker to their elemental weakness, judging by the thrown pot.

This is cool but ||I feel like Straghess is the pile of corpses Heolstor himself crawled out of, before either of them became the lords they are. Just some of the relic wording makes me think that, and it would be even more fuel for Straghess's anger, that Heolstor would abandon what he once fought for and took on the Night to continue to cause the same phenomena that killed them all.||

See I was under the impression that ||heolestrodamus crawling out of the meat pile was the inciting incident for the night tho cause presumably heleostree got bodied during the shattering in the ERNR timeline, the idea he's the rest of the people in the bone pile is interesting but I think the idea that straghess moreso comes from heolostrom mucking around with the nights power is more interesting cause it creates a interesting cyclical parallel between the two||

My impression was that the Night and its rain is another outer god's influence, just like Frenzied Flame and Scarlet Rot. It just seems to be one of the most powerful influences, considering in Nightreign continuity it's basically ravaged all the Lands Between. Heolstor's curse, the way I read it, was the inciting incident to make him the manifestation of the Night on the planet, rendering him the equivalent to Malenia or a Lord of Frenzied Flame.||
||Perhaps through Heolstor becoming the Primordial Nightlord is how the Night managed to cause such destruction
But I adhere to thinking that it was a thing prior to him.||
||I mean, look at what happens should you become a Lord of Frenzied Flame in base Elden Ring. It's sort of the same idea happening in Nightreign with the Night before the Nightfarers step in.||

Also just through of this, if they make it all the everdark versions with reduced HP it'd be hella based if the first one you fought was Maris cause then you'd have storm ruler for every subsequent fight. Then they could make ED heelstorms relic give you the storm ruler Ash of war on your starting weapon and it'd be awesome.
