I got some new hot takes on DS1
first one is not really a hot take but I think the games has big balance issues
notably heavier armor sets + highly damaging weapons like Zweihander outright invalidate most of the game after a certain point
most of the fault I think is in the fap and Havels's rings
those rings are simply too good and readily available too early on
if you don't do a spellcaster run or something there's not much incentive to not pick one of those two
I think they should've been either nerfed or made harder to to acquire or maybe made exclusive so you can't get both
I think they overcorrected too much on DS3 and ER on this matter with nerfing the armor sets while also nerfing their counterparts of the rings
and another take I got is that people who say "you chose your own difficulty" in regards to OP in shit souls games are just coping
you would never bring up that argument in regards to Pokemon difficulty
you would never say that to people who complain about the easy games who also use 6 fairly strong pokemon and say "well, its your responsibility to balance the game according to your own skill"
