#Monster Hunter

All I remember is just trying to be patient when fighting him. Though that's also hard to do on some quests.... Chaos oil level 3.....
I agree
Chaos oil 3
It's not the hyperlos that's bad, it's the fact that there's a hyper gold rath too and they stick to each other like magnets
No amount of dung bombs will save you
Also been trying to fight savage pickle solo and that's not happening
Chaos oil 2 is fine actually who needs 3
I lose 50% HP to a fireball
I run the Dreadking set (900~ def, 25 fire res)
Pain
I call them nukes for a reason
I really hate how they aren't all just normal fireballs as well. He's got those fireballs that explode like 10 times
If you're within his postal code when he launches that you're toast
I don't know if I still have Nintendo online tbh
But I can check
If I do, I'm down to help out
Bet, I'll prolly be on later
But rn I need sustenance cuz I'm about to get pierced and need the calories
Update, I don't have it
In the meantime I'll grind rise emergancy valstrax event quest cause I'm too lazy to grind hr despite being less than 20 hr away
Valor style really makes you feel like Guts Berserk
Some quick tips:
-the third left face button attack (A) attack has super armor but no DR, so you can use it to bully through roars and weak attacks
-if you hold block, top attack button (X) to kick, then hit it again you can go into tackle, and from there go right into the strong charge attack
-when you do a strong charge (either after the surge combo or with the above method) if you hit the top and right face buttons (X+A) you can go right back into the combo with a LV2 rising slash
-generally you'll prolly want either a status or a element on the build cause the nature of the playstyle works better with added elem damage (elem generally scales better iirc until endgame-endgame where you get access to skills like build up boost and stat trigger)
-evade window/distance helps a shitton (partially cause rise has a nerfed roll to begin with) also each type of slash has different ways you have to roll to cancel the recovery fast, back rolls/silkbinds universally cancel it the fastest, roll forward for down swings (iirc), sideways for rising and rounslashes (iirc). For evade windows id recommend a ED 4 deco and 2 EW 4 decos early on, cause they're prolly the best Lvl 4 decos you can get for a while. Then later you can abuse Evade based skills for maximum fun (bladescale/stat trigger/adrenaline rush)
Additionally you can try redirection 2 but that's committing either 1/2 lvl 3 slots or 1 lvl 4 slot to a genuinely pretty tight parry that doesn't really help all that much. Except it lets you just say nuh uh to big nukes even while sheathed (and it looks fucken cool)
-after a roll you can aim rising slash (X+A) any direction but you wanna time it to be just as the Roll animation ends, too early and you go the same direction as the Roll did
I had an idea a while back for a modern iteration of "extreme" (from frontier) GS style that basically combines valor and surge slash
Like imagine if they made it so the face buttons were the surge attacks, but they replaced The guard option with the ability to charge swing, then from there X while charging gives the dash swing, A gives a strongarm Esque parry (tackle is lame I want a harder to use but more rewarding things), then X+A converts the charge into a offset swing (that admittedly is new to the concept cause wilds wasn't out originally when I drafted this but it works well enough)
Also valor style dash evades
Honestly seems pretty balanced considering guarding has kind of become a big part of GSs gameplan as of offensive guards implementation
this info is very much appreciated dawg, I was just out there swinging and praying lol
I know
If he hits you with the tip of the tail on the first swing
It has no knockback
But instableeds
It then can combo into the second swing
Effectively
Instakill
I hate him so fucking much
what I did to that little bug has to be a war crime
Yeah most little monsters are absolute bastards
Buffango?
Those boar bastards?
Evil
Evil incarnate
They straight up ported boars to MH lmao
those little shits keep knocking me out of my tcs
first I thought I had shit luck but nah that has to be by design
Fuck bullfangos, all my homies hate bullfangos
The best thing a buffango can do is let me cheat out free adept dodges/arts charge in Gu
Nah my goat would never
Yeah, Master Rank is generally where MH games pop off
Or the very rare "get down mr president" maneuver.
a bullfango saved me from the valstrax nuke
Rare instance of him not being a little bastard
Even when he's not being a complete bastard it is merely a matter of who's getting fucked over
bullfango is a deity that helps either party at random because it's bored
The legendary super buffango is the warrior of legend destined to kill old fatalis
I unlocked the gs counter and holy shit
Strongarm so goated it even procs Offensive Guard
Play it with surge slash and redirection
Become royal guard dante
gotta add that to my build asap
say less
You even get to style on shit if you hit it since it's a kind of tight timing I won't lie
can I strongarm the valtrax nuke
If you nice with it, but not really because it's multihit so you need hyper armor
Hell lvl 2 redirection actually makes it easier to mpunish cause it auto evades backwards
rage slash it is
i'm ready
You could then use a silkbinds backwards at where he ends up
Well lv1 does
2 runs off GU adept logic and just turns off whatever hitbox would hit you and has extra I frames on the evade for anything that follows up
Redirection 1 is good if you don't use strongarm, lvl 2 is better with strongarm cause it's more evasive, and also recharges your bugs faster on successfully parrying
Also, while you can do whatever you want, I'd recommend sticking with the default combo for Strongarm, it just plays into it better imo, but having a counter on GS is goated regardless
Nah use both scrolls with surge, strongarm, tackle, power sheathe for both and become a dreadnought
(using both TCS and rage is valid)
Got 4U for my 3DS, named my Palico Isidro, and am going Greatsword. I am but a simple individual.
yeah I get you. Surge slash is fun but I find the normal style way more consistent, surge attacks are way harder to aim and it's way harder to tackle which I heavily rely on lol
but I will be using this when I'm feeling extra violent
That is sick as fuck
Also got to anomaly quests on sunbreak for pc. So far haven't felt burnt out which is great
Also recieving like 6 urgents at MR10 was not what I was expecting, I genuinely thought the requirements for the other postgame monsters were raised
right there with you
these quests are fun as hell
Ikr! So glad I got it for pc for 15 bucks and so I could get the mod that gives max spiribirds at the start of a quest
That mod is so peak
It was fun until it got tedious
A demon begins his HUNT. Become the master of the fist with the Monster Hunter Wilds x Street Fighter 6 Special Collaboration!
The free Akuma hunter layered armor with special actions and Blanka-chan Palico layered armor arrive on May 28, alongside a cosmetic collaboration paid DLC pack.
Please note: these paid DLC items are sold separately ...
Akuma
The seikret 15th weapon type
"we gave him an instant kill, as a joke"
Also being able to see akuma out and about in the open areas training sounds funny as fuck
Hey wait a minute
Boldest lie of all time?
"Complaining about how easy Wilds is seems to be doing numbers, time to make shit up to capitalize!"
What the FUCK does that sink want now?
To propagate fabrications
Graaaaaaah valor bow sucks
Not really but it's so hard
Im not built for gunner. I'm an unga bunga sns/gs player. My peanut brain can't comprehend damage zones
Has anyone else farmed the Akuma armor yet
Am I just criminally unlucky or is the average just 1-2 tickets? A vid said you could get up to 5 lmao
it was a lot easier than i thought
It said 5 tickets for 1 piece but it actually makes you craft all 5 at once
My ass thought it was gonna be 25 total and had to get Zyx to help me
It one of those sets you can't mix and match the parts?
Damn, dat shits ass
Atleast you can still perform all the moves when its layered
its just ass to do so since actually wearing the armor gives 30% dmg increase
If I layer over the full set do I still get the full Raging demon moveset?
yea
So I can have my actual hunter doing these moves and all dat?
But its much weaker if you care for ONLY using the moveset
Oh sorry mb you cant
i read it wrong
So if I have the full actual armor on and try to layer over it to have my hunter proper do the funny attacks and all that instead I straight up just can't?
You can't even layer over the Akuma set iirc
figured
Well that sucks
Gotta mod if you dont want to be the funny old man
It was a Street Fighter collab it was gonna end up like this regardless fr fr
I think the ocllab is peak imo
The moveset was so fun
it was sick as fuck to do two Akumas vs Gore Magala
I mean yeah but there's a certain hilarity to seeing the hunter just use shit they realistically shouldn't be lmao
Hunters are goated they could do that shit
Like having the master sword in 4/GU
True as hell honestly
Frankly I'm sad we don't get as much wacky crossover gear anymore
Like the older games had a shitton
GU had fucken dark magician palico armor lmao
From like yugioh
Palico armor in these game is very wacky
And they had baki equipment
Cthulu body + lady gaga bobcut
They had some fairytale stuff, LoZ, theres alot
or making them a UFO
Well the goofy cat armor has always been there
I'm moreso referring to the crossover stuff
Dante Cat
The gmae is still early in its lifespan, im sure itll come
Truthfully I really want the Akuma armor to come back for Master rank
Its unironically the only other weapon ive enjoyed except for bow
Thing is the last 2 games didn't have as much
Granted, world did crossover monsters which ate more into dev time presumably
But at the same time idk how to feel bout that
I mean
It scales off raw right?
It will, it'll just be accurate to actual akuma balancing of being a menace in combat with the HP of a fly
Yeah but the actual defense will be ass
Btw @tawdry garden If you're godly at DI I'm liking the deco that gives you attack+ on being knocked back
I was thinking about doing that too instead of Heroics
I hate using heroics
No Heroics charm it's so over
People also use Quematrice Dual Blades for 240 Raw 0% affinity and Focus 3 to reduce Drive Gauge, i was thinking of making that cause I get lazy with HH buffing
It's not like Gen 4 and prior where you could eat for like unlucky cat to start at 40%
What are the slots?
most broken skill in the game
ngl
Im too lazy with the food buffs in Wilds, I miss my dango where I get to pick and choose my buffs for like 0 cost
if you're talking about counterstrike
I'd think arkveld weapons would be better for that right?
3-2-1 so I think its just attack boost 3 + 2 and whatever for 1
I miss having my HP buffs last till I die
I wonder
have u tried akuma yet
or have u been playing nightreign
Does his stuff stack with bludgeoneer
but maybe I just need to spend more time
trying to use his moveset to beat the event quest was painful
people are still trying to figure out what skills work, i think people were also testing slugger but i dont know
See but now they last 4-5 hunts so
when you get comfy with it, its REALLY fun
If so you could run Smth like the g dogoshuma GS w/bludgeoneer, drop sharpness as fast as possible and ball out
but im on mouse and keyboard so the radial menu and doing motion inputs are a lot easier
People do something similar with offensive guard quematrice SnS to boost attack then immediately sheathe
Still it's annoying having it run out mid fight 5 or whatever
I was mostly button mashing
with his assisted combo
I don't think I landed a single DI
the DI + Raging Demon is prob the best part of the chara
the offset is super easy and the raging demon does so much dmg
DP has invincibility on it yeah?
I think it might have some armor somewhere because I've dpd a roar
140hrs into this MHGU replay and I have gained a burning, seething revelation: Most maps originating from 4U are awful to play on.
This just in, fork found in kitchen
Hot take(?), but I actually like anscestral steppe
Volcanic hollow kinda stinky tho if you spawn at the bottom and have to go up
Volcanic Hollow sucks but I enjoy most of them tbh
That ain't Mh?
Nah that's a different game
colour me embarassed
That's ff14 lmao
Ah, charm farming
Hot take, but I like adept LS more than valor LS
It's the return of the Monster Hunter design contest! Here's your chance to design a weapon and/or pendant to be included for all in Monster Hunter Wilds!

layered weapons are back so this is nice
even if the weapon has bad stats
300 dollars to 150
Holy shit
Fuck man tourist trap is right i spent 300 bucks today alone
i was going to say that the deviljho one looks fire, youuu gotta send a pic when you set it up
It was this or nergignate
But devil joe is the smallest box out of all of them
Well between nergignate and alstroemerias
Wtf did it auto correct to
Alatreon
But some aren’t available for this price so I feel like this was a good haul
loove fighting my favorite elder dragon, Alstroemerias
I think that's like a dinosaur
shhh
Absolutely goated Elder
Love it when they _ _ and _ _ as well as when they _ _
Dont forget their attack
I wonder if wilds runs any better on deck
I don't think they have
I saw someone tryna play on steam deck and it did not look like it was going well
I have a friend who owns one
Hell fucking no don't think about it
did you try doing it and it turned into a fusion reactor?
Good thing the portable team is based
Indeed
People are saying optimization
Did they change it to make it worse in an update or something
Honestly real
Like it was bad before but did it get worse and is that why people are complaining
I stopped playing cause it sucks booting it up expecting a crash
Not gonna put a negative review down or nuthin'
I get rating it for that though but if it’s always been an issue and nothings changed why now then
I just hope the portable team really slam dunks their next game so more people appreciate that side of the series ngl
Mainline expanding as much as they have been feels like they're losing sight of the vision if imma be honest
Recency bias IG?
Games new people are more prone to jump on the defending it bandwagon
Once the honeymoon phase ends they go "wait a minute this shit broke"
If I had to guess
As fun as wilds is to play I genuinely have a hard time enjoying it after all the shit I had to do to even get it up and running in the first place, that and all of the design decisions that feel weird come together and kind of sour the experience
I'm willing to be it's shader cache shenanigans
Yeah it's prolly something newer is the issue id bet
Idk I haven't played in a while lol
People don't clear them with new updates and thus performance gets exponentially worse each patch
Not since the festival started, was gonna fight arktemperd Rey but when he wasn't at the start of the festival I just said fuck it and dropped it
Wilds is prolly the fastest MH game I dropped lol
Same tbh
Also, title update 2 came out with no new monsters, right? Or am I crazy
I could be crazy
But if not
Then I'm not surprised about the reviews
Rise and sunbreak spoiled me with their title updates.
Wilds? Yeah I got super disappointed with the title updates. Tbf, they might make a comeback, but I don't have high hopes for it
... It sucks feeling this negative for a series I love....
Barioth?
Barioth?
Barroth?
both?
But he looks good
I wanted nergignate but deviljho is just as good
I also got Denji from chainsawman and Spider-Man
And a gundam
And todoro
Berserk style deviljho is peak
World is peak I keep telling everyone
We gotta turn both of you into soup
what a shame
i do enjoy being a solid
but soup it is
Monster Hunter World is fun
It's fun
But id rather Just play other MH games that are more fun
Similar deal with wilds, except wilds is fun as fuck gameplay wise, all my problems come from things outside the innate hunting gameplay loop
Ultimately I was kind of proven right about the concerns I had before the game launched (on the basis of what mainline team did previously in world) and probably won't really come back to the game for a while because of that, maybe title updates
Although I am very excited for whatever portable team might be cooking up because the idea of them iterating on focus mode aiming and offsets in a portable team style game sounds fucking sweet, especially when combined with how they tend to like to give weapons more options to play with playstyle wise.
Like even if they just Brought back adept style 1-1 with the GU version but just making the dash upswing also an offset alone sounds awesome
Or focus mode enabling easier aerial snipes
Etc
Can't forget Wilds was also made by the Frontier team
Yeah
Prolly explains why the gameplay loop is fun as hell
It's just like
Everything else around it that's annoying
Offsets in and of themselves felt pretty frontier coded
Also weirdly kinda Dmc1 coded?
Cause like it runs on parry logic from that game
Being your melee attack has to intersect with the opponents melee attack to successfully parry it
Which is welcome to see
How the fuck this an even remotely fair comparison
is the answer right...
Jesus Christ this is the freeest option ever
So fucking easy, left
You have the best old style game in the series, the better gen 5 game, and the best mainline team game
(might be being a bit hyperbolic on that last one but ngl, 4U not having as bad G rank scaling as ib does and not deciding to shit itself like wilds makes me think that)

heard there was some leaks for this game
huh didnt know it was in such a bad spot with gamers
90% is performance issues, the other 10% is people resentful of how content drops are being handled
Honestly both are fair points id argue to a extent
Probably not to the extent where we're at but I understand them
The performance definitely turned me off the game after a while cause it sucks playing the game not knowing if or when it's gonna shit itself
And while I do miss MH games having the full roster on launch I can live with the new TU method
The event quests being weekly limited and shit tho is dumb as hell
performance is 100% justified review bombing id say. if im paying 100 dollars for a game that cant run itself thats embarrassing
- Wait a year/year and a half for new monster hunter
- Buy a discounted monster hunter with MR DLC
- Have fun
Not to mention they're also drip feeding balance adjustments to weapons
Is the sawblade on CB fixed
And the last one added what, a returning monster, and the final boss as a refightable thing and a arch temped you couldn't actually fight until the event rolled around
They haven't even dropped any of the changes yet to my knowledge
Genuinely was hyped to fight Rey until I realized I had to basically wait a whole month to fight it, cause he didn't realease at the start of the festival like he frankly shouldve
Also, I can't stress it enough
Zoh only being refightable after TU1 with no unique gear until then is ridiculous
And all of the changes were to hammer
The fact the game shipped with that is absurd
They did it with Rise too
But at least this time they had a story justification for it I guess
Ya all i'm sorry for breaking up the flow of the conversation, but
Can we have a Monster hunter entry where we just fucking skip the low rank and high rank or smth i don't wanna fight the monster equivalent of a wet paper towel for the first 30 hours of the game
You will fight the towels and you will like it
Nah id argue that's different
Cause like narwa at base is a functional monster
Like I can re fight it
And get it's gear
Yeah I can't get the maxed out storm soul set or weapons
But it's something
It is different they just didn't include the final boss of the game in Rise
Narwa wasn't base game rise, she came in an update
Also it was during COVID so I'm willing to give them a bit of leway on that
Normal narwa was
And also Rise has the excuse of the Covid pandemic for why it shipped incomplete
All mother wasnt
I mean Wilds was developed partially alongside Rise, can't forget that
Also the game doesn't really treat all mother narwa like a normal final story boss, it feels closer to like a narkarkos or a post game boss imo
It feels pretty clearly like just the regular final boss imo
- Play baseline Rise
- Farm Narwa/Ibushi for endgame gear
- fold the fucking flying monster with a surgical precision of an US drone strike into a piece of origami
- Pay 2 (trillion) zennies to the blacksmith to craft gear
- Collapse the local economy
- Pay 4 (trillion) zennies to the blacksmith to upgrade gear
- Slot in minmaxed gems
DLC comes out
do it all again, this time with MR version
And you unlock your HR after that
damn Japanese
That is MHs game loop yes
Holy shit yeah, You get so broke in endgame Rise
I AM PAYING FOR THE ENTIRE OUTFITTING OF THE ELGADO OUTPOST AND THE ADMIRAL DOESN'T CARE
I played the entirety of base Sunbreak with HR gear, it was a fun challenge ngl, I'll probably do the same for Wilds expansion
I kept HR gear till I got MR rath
It's tradition
Also I swear the mainline team was tryna bribe me into liking wilds with the fucken wilds version of the rath set
Cause adrenaline rush
This makes me think of how the last edf game required you to play all the way through like 4-6 separate times, while they were reusing missions in the same campaign
🤫
Oh no, by the time you get to Elgado you just run the Hermitaur event quest and get eggs out the ass
eggs out of the ass, got it🫡
Exactly my thoughts. I genuinely wish they delayed the game 6 months, or another year or 2
Real
Rise I can understand cause covid, but even then they still did way better imo
I'm hoping that it'll eventually become better
But I don't really have much hope considering the recent title update added no new/returning monsters.
And how performance got worse (you may correct me on that, that's just what I heard)
Performance has technically gotten worse by the virtue of shader caches not being automatically cleared
And also it got worse
I'm tempted to delete wilds
But I also don't want to risk losing save data
I am NOT doing the story again
It sucks that Wilds was so intent on "pushing the envelope" of realism, like there's so much cool shit but they just didn't give it enough time for it to get where it should be stability-wise while still getting the level of detail they wanted
40k poly beta being a prime example
man
Classic
Oops

How bad are you getting beat for it to be getting you irl?
That Frostcraft is simply too nice I understand
facts
plus I get max crit draw and quick sheathe
not even god pulling this armor off me
just need some offensive guard and i'm chillin
The crit is off the charts
all that talisman gambling paid off
build making is fun. Gives you an excuse to go back and fight your fav monsters for decorations
True
I do not have the Sunbreak build unfortunately
I played a few though mainly GS and Bow
Sick, I'd definitely play bow if I wasn't such a meathead
the damage i've seen is nuts
I do got some clips that I can share though
I wanna see
dawg what the hell, I didn't know the charge blade was that crazy
It does big damage if you build it right
That was like 3 or 4 true charge slashes bruh 😭
sick, you may have just converted me
I also got some Frontier ones if you interested in seeing those
sure, that's another game i've been wanting to play
Aight, lemme find some good ones
This one's a classic, peak bitrate loss
I have never mashed this fast before or since this moment
god that game looks bad ass, also what's that first weapon
looks like some kind of gs hybrid
They're the same weapon, it's called the Magnet Spike and it's turbo broken
now I know what to llok out for
frontier kinda looks like rise if it was old school
flashy as hell
You don't got it from the start, you gotta hit G Rank and then complete a questline
Damn is it satisfying though
Also when I say it's turbo broken I mean it's TURBO BROKEN
A good portion of it's moves give you like 20 iframes
You can pin the monster with it
devs must have been smoking crack
99% of everything I do in this clip is either invincible or a counter
I mean it's got 2 movesets and a gun what more could you want
bro smelled that weapon from a mile away and said nah
Monster hunter
You know he had to get a shiny mantle to complete that
Got a NightReign review going up later today...and this might be a very controversial opinion.
︀︀
︀︀I liked NightReign more than Monster Hunter Wilds as a multiplayer game. Granted, MHW combat is excellent and feels great. But NightReign sank it's hooks into me way more as an addictive MP experience.
Peak writing
would you guys call wilds a bust compared to previous titles?
or just mid, not derogatory
I haven't played the full game, but because of that fact alone, Im feeling yeah. I love mh, and the fact that I played the beta of wilds and didn't want more makes me really sad tbh
I feel the same way about wilds as I did world tbh, it's just this opinion formulated faster
The game feels like it sacrificed a lot of the "MH spirit"/general game courtesies (like having a game that can run on a average PC, and even then not have to play fearing a crash constantly) to appeal to a wider audience and succeeded, but in turn now way less people are sticking around after launch
Which sucks cause the inherent game loop has been drastically improved with offsets and focus aiming
So my big hope is that a portable team takes those ideas and implements them in a better game and burys this game
In a lot of ways I think it's one of the best MH games ever made, the combat is the best in the entire series, weapon and armor designs are fantastic, fashion hunting is the most accessible and free form it's ever been, but the performance, and the skill system, and the lack of a grind really hold it back in my opinion
Womp womp
I'm tempted to call it a bust cause of my frustrations with it, but it's most likely just mid.
This summarizes most of my complaints give or take. I'd probably tweak it a little but I'm too tired for that
I think it's just getting a bit too streamlined for my tastes. When I got on seikret for the first time and realized it's meant to railroad, I sorta realized this one wasn't gonna be for me
Some of my fav weapons got really cool upgrades, like sns getting the kinda-fade slash, or just all of bow. But then they also continued the trend of gutting HBG
also the story. I don't understand the focus on story at all, aside from shoving in something to appeal to a different audience. But I feel like the audience that wants a walk n talk story game is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum as MH players
this is probably the biggest thing with wilds for me
some weapons got some really cool changes
but some other ones just got completely streamlined
or gutted
It's the only game where I think new releases would benefit greatly from Capcom doing less
the best way to play switch axe
is to just spam the same 4 moves
over and over again
actually, 3
That's such a backstep from rise
Cuz that's close to how it was in like gen 4
Ik they're different teams n allat, but still
GS, on the other hand, is more fun than ever
with perfect guarding
perfect tackles
better mobility
and a stronger moveset overall
with TCS nerfs to compensate
I feel some of the buffs kinda detract from the game too tho. I worry they are making the hunters way too OP
I miss simpler weapon move sets, but that's also entirely a personal thing
I'm just gonna wait for the next portable team game, a pray it's not a switch 2 exclusive
same tbh
It also doesn't help that 95% of the story is the painfully average song and dance they've been doing since MH1 ("big monster blow up village, oh no! Go kill it") except now with a added 5-15 minute walking sim strapped in (the fact alot of hunts went faster than the exposition riddled waddle up to said hunt is absurd).
Then you have the last 5% which is actually cool as hell ||the guardians as a concept and the Xu Wu hunt, because hitting you with 2 hunts back to back is actually a fun concept to do||, but like, the cool part doesn't get nearly as much explanation as the boring normal ass part of the plot.
I mean fuck the big twist with the final boss is entirely implicit and in order to immediately get it you either need to have someone explain old mhs lore to you or play the older games to their endings to reach the fight that fight references to. But if have the context going in when you see it the first time you have a "Oh SHIT" Moment
||I especially lost it when zoh busted out the fucken white fatty horizontal lighting blasts cause of the implications of that, with it also being explicitly red lightning||
I mean fuck it maybe that's what makes that 5% cool, is the fact it's more show don't tell
Tbh I feel like MH plots are at their best when the amount of information given to the player is minimal and unobtrusive, but it's there if you want to find it, definitely a lore over plot kinda series
Like the fucken qurio introduction quest in risebreak unironically has better storytelling than all of world and that front 95% of wilds
Because you go into the quest looking for the ||lunagaron and all you see is the endemic life all gone/hiding in a bush and large and small monsters doubled over dead, the quest music drones on and really adds to the vibes of uneasiness and what sells it is the lunagaron itself being essentially drop dead tired barely even fighting you for most the quest, until it gets that afflicted red hue with the qurio really biting into it. Honestly the one thing that'd sell that hunt even better is if the lunagaron explicitly started hitting you with bloodblight after getting properly afflicted||
Or the fact apexes in base rise say in their hunter notes description "looks like it was caught in a bad storm" when the monsters riling up the rampage are explicitly storm dragons and the fact they're all Diet deviants connecting back with the idea deviants are monsters that survive ordeals long enough to grow stronger. These storm dragon storms being enough to essentially force a fast tracked version of that is fun conceptually
Or how the amatsu fight in rise real explicitly references P3rd with a ||apex zinogre being what comes in to help you, cause the reason Zinogre was a issue in that game was because amatsu rolling in drove em all off the mountain they lived on||
Or on repeat fights it being valstrax cause of that fucken universal studios Japan ride where those two have beef
It's cool lore digs and doesn't take time out of the fight
Agree 100% with what you said
Agree. And even if the story is good, MH is traditionally gameplay>story. Having any moments where the plot takes center stage aside from a stray cutscene here and there feels wrong
It's what pushed me off of world
4U had the best "plot" prolly, but it was only single player and entirely skippable
The plot should be saved more for before and after important, dangerous hunts to hype them up
This
And of course more context around that. That's why the "monster is terrorizing village go kill them" story is so tried and true
Y'know shits real when the pre rendered cutscene happens
Cuz that's literally what the gameplay is. Hunt scarier and scarier monsters until you can hunt the biggest, scariest monster
Exaaaactly bro
Sunbreak did that pretty well I think, even if the story was still just a liiiittle too heavy for my tastes
But again, it's all p skippable
When I saw the pre rendered 4u cutscene with gore getting back up after he kicked my ass like 9 times I was piiiiiiiiissed lmao
3 times on the boat, 3 in the forest, 3 on the real hunt
Then shaggy was 2nd try
Everybody's gangsta till it's time to hunt the monster that has had like 5 cutscenes over the game before you get to hunt it
I feel like mainline team has tried to recreate the gore vibes 2x now and has failed both
Purely because they are not willing to let the flagship in question really wall people
Nergi? Entirely ignorable vs zorah
The biggest issue is them making the cutscenes unskippable tbh, like I get believing in your story but you always gotta leave that as an option, and then just have a cutscene gallery
Arkveld? You fight 3 times back to back when you're nearly at your peak str in LR
Nah you can skip the cutscenes
It's just the run up you cant
World is the same way as wilds and its infuriating this is becoming the pattern with them
Maybe hot take, maybe not, but Nergigante is so boring to me
Main team post gen 5 has yet to come up with a monster that is anywhere near as cool as half the monsters in classic games or portable team games
Like yeah xenojiva is cool but rise has a vampire dragon and a giant exploding stone gorilla so idc
Nergi appeals to the caveman Unga bunga brain
So I can appreciate it
But he ain't no fucken valstrax
he's just not flagship material imo
I get the desire for more "realistic" monsters that the main team provides nowadays, but the concept of the monsters in general is inherently ridiculous so I like having those crazy anime monsters too
There's a reason gore magala is in sunbreak but Nergigante isn't is all I'm sayin
I feel like they kind of learned their lesson
Like jin Dahaad is pretty fucking peak
The new 4 apexes are cool
Granted
All of them riff on Portable team concepts, but at least they're reusing peak ideas
Hell alotta them are kinda riffing the Fated 4 specifically lmao
Like dahaad is Wumbo mitzune with Ice and gammoths snowman blight /big attack aoes
Uth is fat mizu with a water equivalent to gammoths snow armor and more attacks leaning on that
Rey day is just astalos but if he was less psycho and instead of having a lightsaber head it's a rail gun face
Then nu udra is narkarkos but fire instead of goo
Oh and the head flagship is a grey flying monster with dragon energy and vents of some kind and highly opposable wings
They already ripped him off with anjanath
They made glavenus without the sword tail
Yeah but I want the actual swordsman
True
I'm chill with Anjanath tho (I always wear element appropriate armor)
Anjanath is fine but I'd rather have glavenus
Because they strapped a freaking sword to a dinosaur that's cool as fuck!
Damn, now I wanna play MH again, I've been giving it a break to play Expedition 33 lol
I need to boot up rise or GU again but Ive been preoccupied with other games
I hate that other good games exist to distract me from the only truly good game to ever exist:
Greetings
Me wanna play longsword
Me want company
Unga bunga
Mh world
Console btw
Which console? There's no crossplay between consoles
Rip, I'm Xbox
😭
15 minutes till capcom
holy shit
they ported all the old games to steam
WAIT
underwater fighting
Seregios holy
the first one is
the other 2 aren't
there is gonna be an underwater fight and serigios
I don't know what this means
@heady goblet they call me the prophet
they did not port the old games
But I'm assuming no freedom unite
i was lying about that
i lied here
The one time I trust the information you give me
Infact thats almost the opposite of porting
I NEED to kill myself
uth duna arch tempered too
i'll buy wilds when it's 40 bones
complete the weapon tree to get the layered weapons
i mean this wasn't bad
nothing to really jump out of my seat for
here we go
june 30th, thats the time to play
oh another monster
no one was gonna play him anyways
2 new monsters monday with layered weapons i guess
Ok
But why is the content being drip fed
I understand new monsters take time
But there's zero reason we shouldn't have the 4 at apex monsters on rotation
All the capital and resources go to Resident Evil I guess
I also want to kill fat fuck
The long-awaited return of Lagiacrus is at last upon us in Monster Hunter Wilds Free Title Update 2. The legendary Leviathan isn't alone, as Seregios sinks its talons into the Forbidden Lands...
They arrive alongside Layered Weapons, a host of improvements and more on June 30! https://t.co/0H4EG2Vq7i
Ngl I don't feel that hyped for this
Like it's cool
But I'm not jumping for joy here
I'll prolly play it till it crashes, maybe get the new weapons
I have my dilemmas with Wilds, I like it but yes, it feels empty
God I wish they'd port all the old games on to steam
Same here. I was originally hyped when I heard the news, then saw clutch claw coming back.
This would’ve made my day and maybe my whole week
It is
I would kill for mhgu to be ported to steam
or 4u
or 3u
Oh right the clutch claw is coming back
Isn't it just underwater combat? Or is it getting integrated fully? Because I just saw it as an extension of the general hook claw you have in the game
Also sucks they're still doing limited time event quests
It's partial underwater combat specific to lagi like mounting
I don’t get what this means for RTX 50 series users
?
You use the clutch claw in the game too
also me neither
thats like the wire thing
Ah the dlc mechanic
this is like mhworld clutch claw attack with shooting ammo
Thats like standard issue on mh wilds?
You also already have slinger ammo
I didn’t even see the clutch claw attacks in the trailer
Imo they need to make a featuristic mh
In Wilds? No
Tenderizing in Wilds just means opening a wound through damage
And wounds take extra damage
That
You can also do special attacks on wounds
Ninja gaiden specials?
1:20
lol
They wouldn’t patch in the crutch claw before the DLC at least so this is probably Lagi underwater phase specific
Not that I ever minded the clutch claw
When is layered armor available in world
MR
Master rank
How far in?
Did
you unlock layered armor by obtaining items there
but, to be honest, you should just get a mod that unlocks everything
What was wrong with them brah lmfao
What is capcoms issue

Fucking capcop
That shoulve been accessible from beating the standard game
Do they know how hard was to beat the ice dragon
Velkhana
just wait...
Velkhana is one of the filters tbf
But Alatreon and Fatalis shit all over her
Fuck Alatreon bruv
Such a well designed fight ruined by a dumbass MMO mechanic
The charm gacha reward system is back in TU3!
QRT: MH_Wilds

新たな高難易度クエスト群を追加するとともに、それらのクエスト報酬として「ランダムで複合スキルが付与される新たな護石」の追加を予定しています。新たな護石は鑑定時に武器スキルと防具スキル、そしてスロットがランダムに付与…
The worst of both worlds I actually gotta end it all
Mainline team lost it
The fender event quest looks funny
Its just unfortunate it's in a mainline team game with the dog ass weekly event system
Ok now I need to get this game
I lied about it being boring actually I require this in my life or I will die
Lagi or Steve?
LAGIACRUS ON THE 30TH!!!
LAGIACRUS ON THE 30TH!!!
MARK YOUR CALENDERS
And Steve ig
Wonder what sets they're gonna have skill wise
Underwater combat too type shii
Lagi has always been guard iirc ye?
Yea but that's a weaponskill now
Maybe a unique one?
Really can't think of any existing armor skill that would suit Lagi
Electric equivalent to scorcher?
Cause y'know
Him and rath got that rivalry
Giving him WeX would be mad funny
I have a feeling Steve's set is gonna riff the risebreak set closely
I just hope Steve weapons come with the self sharpen
Wait a second
Wasn't he weak to fire?
Yea
I swear that was when they added raths thunder weakness and gave lagi a fire weakness to put them at even odds
Cause king of sky vs lord of the sea is a hard ass mu
Laggy has a fire weakness
But vro doesn't give a fart about it apparently
Js to spite Rathalos
He just got out of the water
The water gives him fire res lmao
Reads like the "cover yourself in oil to fly in the rain" lmao
Shut up and let me have my meme of Lagi being Broly

Lagi simply had defense and fire resistance gems equipped
No wait I think I'm onto something here
Lagi and seregios who tf is Steve again?
We give lagi slicked blade
Any GS news?
GS got nothing
I think
I don't think GS needs anything all things considered
Yea nerf lance and make Greatsword dual wieldable
Give it the surge slash moveset
It don't have one?!
WHY DOESN'T THE COUNTER WEAPON HAVE AN OFFSET
No
That's too situational
Make it so you can convert the charge into the shield charge mid run and make that the offset
They should make it the jumping thrust
The one where you leap forward
Easy, accessible move
Ngl GSs offset deadass is the best thing added in the entire game
Make it the third poke, but
It becomes the Gen/GU long lasting multihit poke
Ehhhh
Like I said, jumping thrust would be perfect 👌
If anyone would know it's John Lancemain
The GU one or the one in wilds
Alchemy lance deadass strong as FUCK with guard skills ngl
GU
GU
Yep
Like literally rustrazor set, rec speed+2 talisman, alch lance with SP evade arts and the rustrazor lance itself with enraged guard is great
Block everything
Heal off everything with passive Regen from SP lvl 3/4
And you having access to the tri poke combo out of block naturally and having essentially no downtime on enraged guard with alchemy cheer is really nice
Very comfy for EX fights
And it builds alch gauge fast
Honestly I really hope the next portable MH game brings back styles proper, I feel like they could do some really fun shit with it
Make alchemy GS play like surge slash GS from risebreak
The round slash into strong round slash from alch GS was the precursor to the round slash combo on surge slash I'm convinced of it
I really would love to see the styles retuned for modern MH and with a new coat of balance in mind
Particularly alchemy cause with Monsters actually scaling up in HP there's a case for alchemy style actually maybe being useful in normal hunts lmao
Cause realistically alchemy's usefulness is directly proportional to how long the hunts gonna be
I love how going back to GU semi recently I decided to lock tf in and beat EX silverwind (in a team admittedly) with alch GS with no deaths, evasion arts, or evasion skills
Frankly kinda love EX deviants ngl
They beget interesting strategies
Like believe it or not Dragon heart makes bolt reaver way easier lmao
Amazing how much less damage he does if you have 50 elec resistance
The boltsaber is still a IK but eh no biggie
Aerial...
Aerial HBG
I've never tried aerial HBg tbh
Fuck it I got the bloodbath set kitted with evade extender as my HBG set anyways
It'll be fun
No I mean like I'm using the full bloodbath set with the gun lmao
It's frankly the best general use HBG setup imo
Ooh
Thought you meant you were playing aerial w that
I like how styles feel very MU dependent
Like it's adding a whole other axis to the weapon Vs Monster MU chart basically
Ariel Heavenly Botemkin Guster
When pot players have a stroke
not even my issue with it
Well
If you're going to make me DPS race him make sure his "fuck u, die" attack doesn't actually kill me despite me meeting the criteria
The amount of times I fainted because the radial menu sucks ass
Yeah the fact eschaton still does damage even if you beat the check is stupid
That and I feel like it's weirdly counter intuitive for multiplayer
Cause why would I play in multiplayer and have one eschaton team wipe for a insta fail when I can get upwards of 5 chances solo?
Anyone here wanna play World actually
I need to reinstall but
I have 2 characters
1 post fatalis and 1 around Velkhana
What platform, there was a new guy on PS4 I think
PC…
I ain't playing world again I'm sorry
And I'm gonna wait till the wilds update cause the game annoys me with the crashes
I really doubt TU2 will fix the crashing mate
Yeah but I'll put up with em to get lagi and Steve GSs prolly
Y'all see the weapon patch notes?
for Wilds
They're buffing CB for whatever reason (also making SAED usable but that's not all)
hammer got buffed really well
did you see the offset attack?
Yeah in the trailer
they updated it so now it has a follow up like gw and swax
Hammer buffs are understandable tho by far the weapon with the least DPS and the offsets just felt off
CB was like top 5 DPS dealers and it got buffed lol
Not that I'm complaining
Say ong zro
just want everyone to know
the day they announce nergigante for wilds, this will truly be the greatest game ever
Honestly, I think we gotta wait for the expansion for both
Cross open world ambush would be crazy
it would be
genuinely excited for tmr
hammer changes got me jumping for joy
same with CB ngl
