getting an extra 50 damage on hits is nice, but, since GS is a relatively slow weapon, idk how usefull it'll be
I see
It’s like blast
because 50 is too low
Its good with weapons that hit alot and deal damage that way
Mah GS gets shat on yet again

I'm sad flayer kinda sucks cause I think a flayer/partbreaker build could be fun
Artian weapons continue to reign supreme
at least the Artian GS looks cool
I use flayer pb on ls
Its noticeablely less dps but makes farming/just surviving much easier
Honestly
Might retool my set to use flayer at the least
I don't like how WeX encourages me to Not pop wounds instantly
Don't worry I time it to right before a attack happens anyway cause I suck at aiming the focus strikes lol
If i see you poping a wound when the monster is down I'm beating sol with the nerf stick again
Just fucking kill me at that point
THE WOUNDS POP ANYWAYS WHEN I HITTEM, MIGHT AS WELL GET A FREE TCS OFF
you havnt played monster hunter till you fucked up someones explody barrel plans by accident
Alchemy fireball my beloved
i think there'll be a torrent of people using this skill

Little click baity but good info on how the skill works
Ngl
The zoh HR fight sucks
The fucken Toaster roaster blast into charged fireball is a checkmate and a half
Cause both do like 50%
And you can't really evade either
I think I realized why this game feels so weird
Monsters don't hit you with hard knockdowns anymore and you really feel it in zohs hr fight
If I could just sit down a sec and dodge the charge fireball it'd be less annoying
I don't feel that way
I though that Zoh had a good amount of hkds
and I dodged a bunch of his attacks by just staying on the ground
like the lightning and charged fireballs
I thought the fight was pretty fair
but also hard
Honestly I think my problem is I can't tell whether or not I have invincibility
It's weird
Also I swapped my build for flayer 4 instead of WeX, id rather get more wounds and pop em more than to not pop em asap
I feel like this game has a lot of visual noise that makes shit hard to tell
maybe the ranged zoh weapons are good...
I've decided to run a bludgeoneer flayer build with adrenaline rush and EW
And a itty bit of part breaker
As a treat
Just like me fr
I mean, tbf the only other fight where the stuff that drops down isn't to protect you is Alatreon
All the other times in MH barriers are for your protection (ie: Fatalis, Behemoth, Geismagorm, safijiva, etc)
Dead ass what happened to me in LR
That shits evil game design
I think I've come around on zoh fight wise again
I just had to lock tf in
HR zoh decided that my vibes were indeed off
And i was wrongful to disagree
Updated showcase of all unique hunting horn sounds and stats in Monster Hunter Wilds (Title Update 1)
Each horn has 22 individal sound files, 12 of which are actual melodies.
9 of these melodies are for regular performances, the remaining 3 are for Encores/Performance Beats (& Focus Strike/Echo Bubbles).
I sorted these 12 sound files into 4 g...
holy shit
the zoh shia hunting horn is really cool
MR
Is it still zoh shia or did they pull a Worldborne and drop zoh shia for a upgraded form?
Its actually a just really small zoh shia that runs around really fast
Honestly
Prolly would fix my main issue with that fight of all the moves having humungo hitboxes
I swear the wilds monsters were designed like rise monsters
Like for fucks sake
||Gore has the power wave move from chaotic!||

What about that rear up directly down flamethrower move
Like the toaster roaster 9000
That into charged fireballs is prolly one of the most nasty combos I've ever seen from a monster
Cause both do about 50%
Probably not idk
Too much floof
I got a whole part of lobby to prance in MHwilds
High art
It was even funnier cause for a bit people were just watching me prance and all one by one were like "eh why not"
this chat would be cooler if you guys posted yourself doing stuff like this
Can't I'm too busy tryna figure out a way to smuggle pipe bombs out of the bowling area in the hub
Also ngl
The dude armor for zoh shia legs looks kinda goofy
Goofy aaaaaah zebra print
Also gotta say Mizu is great in wilds
Just straight up porting the Gen Fight and adding soulseer shit in was definitely the play
I do hope if we get a arc tempered they go the extra mile and make the gamma set the actual soul seer set
Offsetting the tempered bubble drop/stinger he does is pay back for all the times that shit team wiped my squad in GU during the fucken EX fight
Also I love how a genuine strat for GS offsets is to turn away from the monster if you start it too early, cause that lets you offset doing the animation of the sword coming back down
Which is genuine peak
The only thing I don't like about offsets are how they vary
Sometimes you send the monster rolling
Other times not
And sometimes you actually take damage while other times nah
Etc
If I had to guess I think they programmed it so theres the actual hit on the attack itself, and then there's the "offset hitbox" which is there purely to determine whether or not you offset a incoming attack or not
(cause I've had time where the rising slash hits, does damage, but then the monster swings into the sword at the higher part of its arc and then gets parried)
From there I gotta figure out what cause the full knockback or the non existent knockback
mizutsune
Bubble drop be like
Ah
Ngl
Arkveld makes me irrationally annoyed
I stg that MFer has weird moves
Like the hooked wing swipe I stg is a crossup, cause when I try to directly block it I get hit
Fuck monsters with baked in crossups
That shit evil
Tempered yes
And normal if your gear isn't up to snuff
Unfortunately for the bubbly bastard I've developed a sixth sense to foresee bubble drop and bubble stinger
He cannot hurt me, and Instead eat a offset for his sins
Oh how the turns tabled
T. Mizu is very scary if you're under 350def and/or using a ranged weapon
T. Mizu is regular scary if youre +350 def and using a melee weapon
exactly
Simply develop a sixth sense to parry the bubble drop/stinger
All that fucking time on GU
Paying dividends rn
swaxe is super fun until you build amp
it then becomes a one-move simulator
after that point
I hope it gets the GS treatment next Gen and uncentralizes it
it's funny, because that's exactly what rise did
but they went back on those changes for wilds
anyways, at least GS is fun
Wilds GS is prolly the most fun Ive had with the Baseline GS moveset in a while
Like I still think I like valor/surge slash more
But it's up there
HELLFIREFICATION
QRT: CurdR69907
@Hell_Fire_Com Well I thought just give him the colour scheme and maby something like the head crown of Magna but idk if this is to much for you
DOA
I'm really glad musashi came back for wilds
@craggy dust did you just hunt a arkveld with a guy named John or nah?
I do not have the video game lmao
Must’ve been some other thedoc
I thought you got it lmao
My bad G
Also unrelated
I fucking get it now
They should NOT have given me a parry
Biggest mistake possibly ever
The poor fucking rathalos stand no chance!
Their survival percentage was already in the single digits
Now they're in the hundredth place of percentages
Prolly the best iteration of the GS parry if I'll be honest
I was helping someone with HR keys and was RIPPING through the 4 area apexes
They had no shot!
None!
Cause I smacked that shit aside with my big fuck off sword!
Man I hope akantor and ukanlos show up and Akantor weapons all have Bludgeoneer/ minds eye 3 baked in
I feel like Akantor weapons with bludgeoneer and new Minds eye could go hard as hell tbh
Partbreaker vs the cephalopods sounds awesome ngl
I'm honestly too afraid to even be in the bigger lobbies cause I feel like my laptop will blow up, so I just don't join them
So I can't really say on that matter, but I would assume 4 person lobbies are more fun
Or maybe like 8 person lobbies idk
The best part of big lobbies is getting a whole group of like 20 or so to do the prance emote
By doing it yourself and waiting
Bruh I was aura farming on zoh shia ass today
On the attack we're it throws up da rocks and does the turbo toaster roasted amped by those I played hella foozies with the fire sitting just outta range bonking him
But the most disrespectful thing was me rolling into the normal toaster roaster at just perfect timing to iframe the last bit of the move to proc adrenaline rush while simultaneously getting a extra bit of opening to wail on him
I got four perfect blocks in a row against Zoh Shia explosions and I’m standing here like
“Try again bitch”
Would yall say Monster hunter world would be a good starter game?
yeah
wilds is probably better
but if you want to get into the series as a whole world would be better
Yeah cuz rn I don't have enough money for Wilds but I do have enough for world
Personally I'm in the rise camp
which is like an entire games worth of content
But you do what you want
i think i like fighting zoh shia more than arkveld
same
it feels more satisfying
still hard or maybe harder but it feels better than arkveld
arkveld feels frustrating but not hard
zoh shia has insane damage (which is a given considering it was made to stop fatalis) but doesn't feel cheap
arkveld looks like it defies the universal rules lol
insane reach that doesn't seem like it should reach, good attacks thats got weird timing to it while also hitting multiple times, a actually good grab
its a solid design but it feels like it was made to be frustrating
So real honestly
This combined with hitboxes that are weird
Like moves that feel like they should hit earlier dont
Or moves that need to be blocked weird
Like the hook swing he does I think needs to be blocked backwards case the hitbox goes around your hunter
Unless of course you're far enough back, in which case you gotta block it foward
Honestly I've given up blocking it and just throw my sword into it now
Much better really
I’d argue Rise is better to start because the combat can be a little more engaging and the game can be more “get up and go”
True
Rise is faster than world
Wilds is also surprisingly fast, (moreso on quest completion time than actual in game speed) but it's still pretty fast
It's kinda funny cause id argue some things the monsters do in wilds feel like rise-isms
So what's y'all's takes on wilds now that the games been out for a bit?
Cool, but also damn
The lows
Are pretty low
GU my beloved
Low rank kinda sucks if you wanna play with friends cause of the dogshit plot they make you sit through
(seriously the cutscene/ride bird dog whilst getting monologued at shit should not be there what the hell)
Yeah I still can't believe they did that shit
I haven't played but I would have a hard time sticking around for that shit
And I'm really mad like 95% of the plot is mid shit I couldn't give a damn about, while the last like 5% is actually really fucken cool world building
How's the late game tho?
That and the big lobbies are a double edged sword
Fine
It's nice being able to go out and hunt to your heart's content on every map
I gotcha lol
I hope the g rank really lays it down. I also hope they make HBG fun again
The big lobbies let you bang out quests fast
Though I doubt that'll happen
HBG is kinda wack I won't lie
HBG looks unbelievably boring
But then again Pierce is on top so we're so back
But you don't have much social interaction, it's all basically just hunts
I'm sure it's still good. But like, no siege mode?
Not yet
Yeah I never got that
Also the ammo reworks, like having infinite default ammo types, really bothers me.
I hope we get Gogmazios as the big siege
Call me a gatekeeper, but to me, the tradeoff of gunner weapons being good was having to spend all the time and money building for the right ammo types, and then crafting and buying those ammo types
Yep
Being unable to bind run and guard to the same input or not being able to turn off radial menus sucks ass
Having all ur important ammo by default is kinda dumb
Along with lower defenses
That too. Ever since world HBG just feels like a worse LBG
It'd be so fucking simple to make run and guard the same input and then just make RT focus strikes
Rise at least kinda brought seiging back
Which HBG having natural shield kinda blasts to shreds
Yeah that's kinda dumb too
Also lowkey
I feel like these monsters were designed by the portable team with how big their attacks can be
Which admittedly can be kind of annoying if you got a normal evade cause this stuff does not feel designed for this
Granted I grabbed the rath set which got retooled into a evasion based set which makes it more my speed but still
i want a apology from all the mainline team fans who said rise was too anime, fucken both raths got deviant ass moves in wilds
And it's not just them!
They were designed by the Frontier team
Doesn't frontier kinda expect you to have evade skills ?
Which makes it even more PEAK RAAAAAAAAH
Evade Window was mandatory, yeah
Oh also skills
Figures
I feel like the roll in rise/wilds is too stubby
Like rise at least you have the bugs at default but still
Splitting armor and weapon skills i don't think is a bad idea conceptually, I just think the execution is kinda meh in wilds
Yeah
Cause the way I saw it initially was weapons got flat buffs
Armors got conditionals or QoL skills
Which honestly
Not a bad idea
Why the fuck are literally all the guard skills on weapons
Both guard and guard up are QoL skills
And offensive guard is a conditional
Why the hell isn't bludgeoneer/minds eye armor skills? They're conditional effects
I could go on through and point out weird outliers
It just doesn't feel like consistent logic
Also personally I feel like bringing 2 of the same weapon type should give you some kind of buff
Would be interesting
I think a fun idea is making it so whatever skills are innate to the weapons themselves (not decos) get applied to both weapons no matter what
Granted
That'd prolly just become artisans bringing extra weapons as a stat stick
But still
You'd have some extra build variety, but not so much it's op
I'm gonna be real I think weapon decos and skills should apply to both because I want to have more skills on my build
Just because I think it would be really broken
Fair but that'd prolly be too good
Also
Entirely personal gripe here
That's why I want it
I'm made we don't have a weapon that can use bludgeoneer really well yet
Cause this is arguably the best game for it
Best I can get rn is the G.Dogoshuma GS with Minds eye3 bludgeoneer 3 and a lvl of Crit eye to offset (heh) the -20% affinity
Is it too much to ask to get a weapon with 270-80 raw and innate green? Without needing to spend like half the fight grinding off my blue sharness
Apparently
Please
Please say someone leaked Akantor
I need my like 250 raw, innate green, 45% affinity slab of scales
Honestly for later updates to this game I hope we get armor skills that give flat buffs, that come with downsides
Like a skill that buffs raw by like 10% at max rank, but doubles sharpness consumption etc
My opinion is the same tbh. Should have been left in the oven for at least 6 more months. Also, if the portable team making the games means we never have to go through a story mode like that ever again, then I hope the mainline team never cooks again for that sake.
Does the kid really say some shit
You will never not see me crap on Wilds story. Like that genuinely made me think "Yeah I'd rather do hw" on the 2nd day of release. High rank saves it, but it still feels incomplete
Yes
||I don't care you relate to the monster being chained to fate or whatever. IT. MURDERED. YOUR. FAMILY. YOU. DUMB. CHILD!!!||
||AND ITS GOING INSANE, OF FUCKING COURSE IM GONNA KILL IT||
||# ITS MY FUCKING JOB NAME, DESCRIPTION, AND TITLE!!!||
The coolest parts of this game are the lore expansions/implications
Hence the cool 5% of the plot
yeah he says "I heard from the others" and then just talks about materials
its just a line he repeats when you get near him
ok but have you tried being a monster lover instead?
Like genuinely the plot is like 90% random shit that's a throwaway line in any other good MH, but here its extrapolated to several minutes of exposition
Then you have the The end of the plot starting with the revelation ||oh shit! Artificial monster made by the ancient civilization! Neat!||
||IS THAT THE EQUAL DRAGON WEAPON?!?||
||AND ITS PART FATALIS?!? THE FUCK?!?||
And then it's over
The plot is cool for the last like 5 minutes
ok but what about the chill little guy
And of course the cool part isn't explicitly rammed down your throat via 20 minutes of exposition it's shown in gameplay
||guardians don't eat or sleep or nothing, they recharge at those wylk pools||
||And the EDW being part fatalis thing is shown entirely through gameplay||
And thats cool!
Unfortunately every thing else in the plot is just there to annoy you and artificially expand the games LR length
My favorite characters are the wud wuds because they have a certain "head empty" energy I respect
Pog thanks
While this is 100% true imo it's way better than "complete x quests on the board but we aren't gonna tell you which you need"
Ot took me 20 minutes to say out loud 'did these devs play half life'
I understand you want to idiot proof your game and show off your world but that's what a set peice is for not pokemon snap for the 15 minutes it takes to get to a monster
Palamutes were better than sekiret fuck spelling that right
TRUE!!!
seikret is so boring
I hated the autopilot in the beta
the only thing I like about nergi is that breaking its bone spikes is damn satisfying
especially the ruiner variant
other than that, it didn't grow on me much
Heh
Peakgigante
It’s true he’s so fucking cool
Monster Riders piss me off so much dude. I was trying to hunt a Zinogre, and they tried to stop me, "What about its family!?" Okay I'll hunt them too if you're gonna whine about it.
QRT: MoofahMelody
Tweet like you're in the Monster Hunter universe.
They put Mezeporta in Wilds we're so back
Zoh Shia is kinda an asshole eh?
EE helps a shitton
I said it once I'll say it again
These fights are designed like rise fights and as such feel like you kinda should have move schmovement options for em
So real
(literally not running WeX personally lmao)
I'm at like
90~ affinity after Wex with my current build
Got CB 5 too
It's actually insane how big a damage boost it is
I got adrenaline rush/counterstrike/EW/EE/Constitution on my build all maxed with attack boost and focus on a artisan GS
This is gonna sound weird
But I felt like I was getting more out of Focus 1 than Focus 3
And the fact I can kill most everything in 5 minutes ish with that unoptimal ass build I think says a lot about this game
Honestly I can see it
Well tbf
Granted
Focus 1 is a whole 10% iirc and 3 is only 20%
So its deminishing returns
Huh
Which is insane
Well
I could see it
Gonna take that into consideration
And try it
How do you hit 90% affinity? Just stack WeX/MM/Foray(?)
Antivirus increases the amount too
Ngl I think AT Reys set might be really good
Gives it an additional 15%
It's really consistent
Ah
Negates the dot and even out heals it
Honestly though I can kinda see Rey Daus gamma set being really good if it has good slottage
I'm looking forward to seeing the drip
Cause I feel like that 50% from latent power could be really strong in this game
Cause it's now the arguable best overall Crit skill on paper
Cause you get 2 really nice benefits at the cost of a bit of a annoying activation
Actually
I just realized latent power reduces stamina depletion by 50% at max
Idk how it stacks with Constitution
But if they're additive to each other that's infinite stamina
Which there fore means max might is always procced
And even if it isnt
Cutting stamina consumption by 1/4th is great for the leeway the skill gives you in maintaining it
Meaning that'd be 80% CC
From there you either gem in agitator or Foray or Smth and get to go nuts
Hell if you're willing to take a hit to latent powers duration and run the reydau 2 piece bonus you can get Gores for easy 100% crit
i think dmc music makes me play this game better lmao
Subhuman and DT got me popping tf off
Y'know ngl
Arkveld is the perfect embodiment of this game
Inconsistent
The lows kinda suck
But the highs are crack
You're gonna have to explain this to me
His shit fucky
He has an attack you have to block backwards if you're too close to him
We haven't had Smth like that since like Kush
And a lot of his moves feel weird to interact with
Which attack is that, the one where he does the flip while dragging the chains on the ground?
Nah the one where he hooks it back
Then swings it like a scythe
If you're too close he crosses yo shit
Can't say I've ever had that happen
Then there's the wide drag which has weird timing on when the hitbox comes out
I've had it happen a shitton to me personally
In the like, 50~60 hunts I've done I can't say I've had that move hit me from behind
Idk maybe I'm just unlucky
Abysmal dogshit
The fashion hunter Reddit is clearly the best monster hunter one
reminds me of that one RE4 remake steam review
Reminder that when you capture a monster, it still dies. There's nothing altruistic or merciful about capture vs. kill- its just kill now or kill later.
Or maybe you want someone else to be the one to do it like with meat "I don't wanna know where my Rathian armor comes from" https://t.co/TVoFYxInel
This is true
Except in wilds they show them run off after a certain amount of time
Man wilds gotta be one of those few games where I simultaneously love it but it also pisses me off lmao
I swear sometimes I'll fight something and just absolutely railroad the fucker
Like
No holds barred I just keep swinging and the dummy I'm fighting keeps eating shit
Like it feels like a fucking DMC game but I never drop past SSS
Then there's the next time where I just can't get the flow going and I never get past the Metaphorical D rank
It's weird cause I swear the other games aren't like this when first learning them
Also unrelated but I swear the artisan GS kinda looks like the DSD and the Nu Krake looks Like the DSS from DMC
Idk if its my DMC brainrot kicking in
But like
They look similar
I will also write it here
︀︀
︀︀This time, I checked the waist size of all the armor pieces with the skin exposed. They were almost all the same, but there was one piece that was unusually thin. That was Chatamail, and it was incredibly thin.

the gooning
I dont see anything
i see it but pointing it out is definitely gonna single me out
I got like 10 ish offsets vs tempered arkveld
(idk if the game counts the parries without knockback as a offset or nah)
I'm guessing nah cause it felt like way more than 10
Like I was parrying fucken everything
Feeling fucken great
Try to roll in cause it was attacking a teammate
It did its nuke and died cause I tried to block it
I couldn't roll it again cause if I rolled back or sideways the chain explosion followup would get me, I roll forward I don't think (?) Id've had enough time to dodge the initial kaboom
And I don't think I had enough time to put my weapons away and superman
So I got checkmated
maybe you needed guard up
Nah like I blocked it
But the just sheer chipp damage murdered me
I was at like full HP too
Also I think the explosions are like the final bosses super double arm slam, where it's in essence a unblockable cause if you block it fowards the follow up explosion crosses you up
Speaking of that dickhead
The toaster roaster into double charged fireball is evil ass work
The two of them doing about 50% each is devious cause if you overextend you have to worry about not getting comboed
Cause I don't think the roaster gives you HKD invuln
I swear this game has like a loop to it
I start playing, style on everything, feels peak
Get railroaded by some wack ass shit right before I get off
Get pissed
It's scarily consistent at this point
Like yesterday it was 2 crashes into server maintenance
I think I should like just quit earlier tbh

Seems so
Seems like the rust razor bow
Wait did you guys once have peak? Wtf happened which community ruined it
we'll probably get one eventually
they were in world and rise
the bigger injustice is a lot of weapons not even having certain elements
for example, there's no blast LS
they were layered weapons
i don't know if they were actual weapons at some point though
No inmate blast GS

Love how no one's mentioning the fulgur

My monster hunter twitter is wild
||Don’t||
is it all porn
No but I keep seeing monster hunter ships
ships like giant boats rights?
Back on my GU shiiii
God valor GS is still the best iteration of it
Wilds and surge slash gets close
But there's no better feeling than smashing the shit out of a monster while running circles around it with ease
And out footsing EVERYTHING
I was running circles around EX Crimson fatty earlier today
Like genuinely I feel like valor compliments old MH really well
Cause like
It encourages you to play aggressive
But you have to be used to playing old MH to play it well
And that's on pretty much any weapon
この前はありがとうございました!
ガンランス4人鍔迫り合いシンクロからの等間隔竜撃砲4連発
#浪漫ガンランス #モンハンワイルズ https://t.co/GqGPHMGl4a
Have you played old Mh before?
adept gs for now
Based as fuck
hell nah I'm a rookie
games were on sell so I said fuck it
I played a little bit of rise though, just finished the village quests
GU is a different beast
Yeah rise is easier cause it has more QoL
yeah i'm already missing my car
Bet
It's like the difference of driving stick and automatic
Automatic is easier
But when you get used to it manual feels fucken awesome
rise just gave me the car off the rip i'm spoiled
GU is peak
Definitely check out other weapons and styles
Most content rich MH game
i'm thinking of going hammer
72 different ways to body monsters with styles/weapons (not even including arts)
High art
yeah I saw some valor hammer speedruns and it was badass
It really is
all this for 10 bucks
i'm digging the mh gameplay loop so far tho
kill big monster, make badass weapon
repeat
Yep
Genuinely you can count the amount of large monsters they didn't bring back on like 2 hands
(not counting subspecies)
Idk I think they have roughly the same learning curve imo
Like
Sure there's more stuff in Valor movesets
But Adept requires more in depth monster knowledge
Nah id beg to differ
Cause like
Adept you just kinda got a know when to roll
Valor you gotta understand monster patterns better to optimize valor mode upkeep the most efficiently
Also going back to GU and I saw a surprising amount of alchemy users online
Others have woken up to justice
Sure you might only need to know the roll timing to play Adept but then you just end up trading down something with 40 times your health and you aren't even able to access like 40% of your damage in the follow ups
it's fun being able to zip around and stuff
Factual
Yeah that's a risism
Peak
Not as peak as GU tho
Valor GS got that SCHMOVEMENT
Peak GS STILL
I'm sorry Unga but offsets are just too good
damn bruh this game is just giving me free platinum eggs
i just saved myself 150 bucks
Ah, the dlcs?
Nah dawg they ain't that good
It's cool
Yeah, I'd recommend not over relying on what they gave you, a lot of people tend to neglect item collection once they see everything they get
True, they're even better
Naaaaaah
I was just about to say it lowkey feels like cheating
Offsets are too inconsistent imo
Valor style is incredibly consistent
There are times where you land like 5 offsets back to back and it's goated
It's not cheating, but it can become a sort of noob trap if you neglect a lot of the systems the game presents
But then there are times where the offset just ends up getting you hit cause you didn't get the HKD or you barely missed the hurtbox or Smth like that
GS' covers like 200 degrees
give a man a fish and he'll be fed for a day, or teach a man to fish and he'll be fed for life
i will learn
I've gotten some reversal ones and felt like a badass
It works like a status Unga, it's like power clashes, and also some moves just don't give the topple I'll admit it's really weird
Also hitting offset gives a TCS if you're doing it at the right times but don't get the topple
I mean yeah but then you get nailed by a followup
Unga, do you really think "the right times," includes when you're gonna get nailed by a follow up?
I mean yeah but it's way more multi leveled than MH normally is
It feels more complicated than nessesary
Idk, I feel like that just makes it better
Frankly I would rather have just a parry that's consistent in what it gets you
There are only two outcomes for an offset Unga
And sure
1 outcome would be better
But I feel like the fact that there is two outcomes makes offsets more engaging and interesting all in all
Fuck you mean not really
There's topple and no topple
And fucking up but we don't count those
The freebie TCS (cause you have a opening) and a non freebie TCS scenario (no opening)
That plus the Big knockback is 3 different scenarios
Honestly I think it'd be cool if we could go right back into another upswing on offset tbh
You kinda can
Just gotta hit a roll or block cancel
You could roll cancel yeah
But I get what you mean
Or hell
Lemme do the dash followup even if I don't get the knockback
That'd be awesome
Especially if you get to control where you go
That'd enable some valor GS Esque snipage via evasive swings

Can't wait for Mt. St. Helens in the MH universe
Mh rise and sunbreak are on sale for a grand total of 15 dollars
which one do i play if i wanna know all the fun monsters
and dont wanna buy the newest one, because
le money
GU is old mhs Greatest hits but it's kind of clunky to start (and it's on switch)
World has a good roster (at least including Iceborne) and is a safe bet gameplay wise but the MR expansion (iceborne) has a kind of wack balance to it (monsters aren't really that much harder than base game, it's just they have a shitton more HP and your two main ways of offsetting that is a war or attrition or using the wackass clutch claw mechanic to weaken monster parts to get faster kills, the thing is annoyingly jank tho)
Rise has a better base roster and it only gets better in SB, and is notably faster than both of the other games I mentioned, but that speed is kind of a double edged sword for some
Oh also rise and GU have moveset customizations on a per weapon basis for more replay value
GU has 6 styles per weapon (each style having a hyper specific focus) with each weapon getting 4 unique hunter arts to use (not all at once cause amount of usable arts depends on style)(arts being supers basically) and there being a bunch of universal hunter arts aside from the weapon exclusive ones, and rise gets 3 (5 in SB) switch skill slots, which essentially let you fine tune your moveset
Don't buy the newest one anyways, it ain't worth 70 bucks tbh. But yeah, GU and rise are good starts
Also after playing rise for a bit last night, I got that feeling of "dam, it's 2AM already?" So I'm glad I got that joy from it
I really wish I could say the same for wilds, but I just can't
Wilds/world are fun but it's just not as fun as the portable team games
I feel like the mainline team sacrificed some fun factor for mass appeal too much in their last 2 outings but that's just my opinion
Agreed
Yep thats what ive heard
Is it just me or did the entire chat above get deleted?
It's just you
Yeah its still there for me
Huh, that's odd
I had my awakening to justice moment today in GU
Moonbreaker 1+both absolute evades makes alchemy goated
Cause moonbreaker 1 essentially has a S cool down when set as a sp art, but since it's classed as a M cool down art you get the longer SP mode
That and the two evades give you plenty of room to work
That and the full bloodbath load out with a evade dist +6 000 really makes it goated
Cause bloodbath in a ironic twist is actually obscenely good for alchemy
Between the arts boost on dev weapon and the set naturally getting composed
And the evade/attack skills really help pick up in the damage department (what alchemy mostly lacks)
this weapon rocks
Those are the best kind of GS moments
real main character hours
it's cool that this series makes you feel like one from time to time, no matter the weapon you use
maybe excluding the hunting horn
Hunting Horn in Rise is literally the king of aura farming
Eeeeeeevil floofball
Y'know the more I think about it the more I like GU styles conceptually
Particularly valor and Alchemy, cause they have a really interesting dichotomy
Valor lets you rip the monster several new ones with excessive violence when you lock in with the gauge and everything, but it holds your head down in the dirt if you don't and you flounder about
Meanwhile alchemy is content letting you faf about and play passively, but when you lock in you turn essentially all of that singular can of whoop ass you'd have with valor into team support that's incredibly potent if it can be properly maintained and utilized
Its a very interesting dichotomy
I never played any Monster Hunter before World.
but I really want to try GU
and portable 3rd
HI is kinda hard to learn but once you do it's hella fun
Damn arch tempered Rey Dau isn't really allat
Fr
He carted me once but only cause I didn't know his Big Boom left after explosions
At work Ax, sry
Damn
I js fought him once this morning
It dropped yesterday I think
I was so ready to go gettem at the start of the event and was thoroughly disappointed
Now I'm just kinda in a perpetual state of "eh" when it comes to wilds
I'll prolly go smack him around to get the armor set (cause event quests suck and are time limited for some reason) and then I'll go back to GU
Been on a GU kick
Man that shits so peak
We need to go back
Reject modernity
Return to monké
As one should be
Helped someone get G astalos armor yesterday cause they were running LR armor they upgraded the crap out of in G rank
History repeats but I am on the other side of the circle
I'm honestly just waiting for when wilds has a lot more to do cause I feel like I'll just burn myself out otherwise.
Meanwhile the 2nd rise playthrough has been a blast and helped resparked my love for mh
rise being my first mh game got me feeling blessed ngl
hard to believe it gets any better than this
You should definitely play gu
Might not have all the same freedom of movement as rise does, but that's part of the charm with the old mh games
Man I knew wilds was inherently DMC coded
Wilds straight up fucken just took DMCs parry system
And I ain't talking no royal guard, I'm talking dat weapon on weapon hitboxes colliding shit
Thusly I've come to the conclusion wilds has potential to become the most fucking goated monster Hunter in the G rank update assuming they:
-give every weapon a offset
-give the weapons that have them already more
-give more varied options off a successful parry
-and make the monsters more aggressive but also let them be readable
Like MFers should get explicit offset reaction counter attacks I can then learn to counter attack in varied ways
I came to this conclusion watching this video
Join me as I talk at you for far too long about a seminal boss in the history of action games. You should play DMC1.
I know it's called Helm Breaker but I've always called it Helm Splitter. "Breaker" makes me think of blunt force whereas "Splitter" makes me think of cutting....like what a sword would do. I also think it sounds cooler.
Nelo Alt...
Like GS should have a reverse beat offset sorta system
Any charge attack can offset, but the amount of charge you need to offset varies on the weapon charge
Like for example a normie swing needs lvl3
Strong needs 2
TCS only needs one
With the rising effectively having it at lvl 0
Genuinely Wilds MR has potential to be the best MH game if they lock in
Don't say that, don't give me hope
La cuga
Nargacuga basically just being a cat with knives strapped to its arm and a spear club on its tail is really funny conceptually
nargacuba
Man it's a crime tempest axe with valor style steps isnt the default axe mode in any recent game
That stuff is the apex of swag axe
i kinda dont like AT RD
Right he exists
who were you not happy with like 2 hours ago?
AT RD
Like World
Yucky
Which is DOGSHIT
Amen
Is anyone playing wilds on series s? If so, how's it run?
I played the beta but haven't touched the full game yet, and I'm getting that MH itch again
I ran the beta on series s, I wouldn't recommend
Yeah same. It ran okay but was really rough looking
I think that bothered me more than the frame rate. All the browns and greys really mesh together and make the game unreadable
I'm just hoping the full release is a liiiittle better, cuz I have no other next gen options
Sadly for soo many, the pinacle of Swaxe is frontier only
Wich you can play for the low price of NOTHING!
Why is it sadly, Frontier Swaxe is the best one
again
Bruh I'm too far gone
I hit a glavenus with a taunt mid fight
Like, doing moves n shit, hit the flaunt emote before the big beyblade spin, then adepted the spin
I'm actually evil
Aura farming again, Mr Unga?
I'm always aura farming
I'm going to beat rise at work it seems
Welcome back MH portable lmao
Your reddit gold is in the mail
You can almost count the frames per second on one hand
Booted up GU for the first time in a while and I'm trying to take on G4 Shaggy
Turns out GS doesn't like Shaggy much
so dogshit
fire
Realising I've been enjoying Clair Obscur so much I haven't even hunted AT Rey Dao
I played GU again too, and man new MH just doesn't hit the same
@autumn jewel
lightning dragon
Raw dogged G4/5 silver wind with no evade skills alchemy GS
That FUCKING CAT THAT I HATE
No dodge, just boofed the murder drugs
Also I got back into rise with SnS to spice it up, and boy do I suck at trying to perfect rush lol
been playing it alongside rise and I'm loving it
adept and valor gs are carrying me so far
hell yeah
holy shit that's cold
Valor GS is goated
AT Rey Dau is literally just a more annoying Rey Dau
Which is sad to say
Cause he's the first of the bunch
Try adept CB/lance/GL
They got actual royal guard lmao
So spikeless they even removed the giant's teeth
Big angy doge lmao
Wait is narga sposed to be a dog? I always thought he was a bat
I always read it as a big cat
Beaked Jaguar to me
None are more deserving of being turned into a tool of killing them
If I could kill them!
true but, in which game?
Mhgu
ahh, i see
Im Trying to learn cb again and this thing does not work against stupid dumb fucker silverlos
I hope him and his family explodes
sunbreak or gu?
I know flash bomb spam is a good way to cheese his fight
Sometimes it doesn't knock him out the air tho
Gu
Yeah silverlos is rough in gu. I usually just try to run around him rather than head on since he loves to back up all the time and stun you with wind pressure and roars
The fireballs are my main issue. He constantly flies around and nukes me. I can dodge perfectly fine but that also means never getting a hit in
And sometimes flash bombs knock him down, but sometimes he stays in the air. It seems random
15 flashbangs and pray
Have you tried adept or valor style
This too tbh
I play valor GS, but I mostly tried to take him down with Strike CB to get some practice in
I think you can get more with provisions
You wanna aim the flashes where he's looking currently cause he usually flys 90° left or right but then turns to face the same direction
Yeah ik
Like sometimes I'll throw it while he's in air, and it'll rattle him a bit, but he'll stay in the air and just be blinded for a while
Can confirm
It's weird, it doesn't seem like it's determined by wing damage or resistance to flash bombs. It's just a coin toss.
Idk I'll try again later. He's just a fucker tho
That's A DK thing where you need to break the wings to actually flash him
I want his armor so bad
Ye ik
Silverlos?
Yah in this game I think
Crit and Crit accessories
Iirc it's like challenger/WeX/CB?
Which don't get me wrong
Absolutely fucks
Hold on I'm tryna look it up
Maybe I mixed it up in my head
Oh yeah it's just tendie and crit up, whoops
I do want that too tho
Nah that's the HR set
G rank also gets Challenger
Oh ok
Since you're using charge blade, you could also try blocking some attacks as it tries to approach. I can't remember how much that helps since it has been a while though
Honestly a rock solid set
With buffed shield it kinda helps? Though also not really
Guard pointing the claw dive would help alot
You really want some guard + though
If it's a melee attack it does damage him, but blocking fire balls does nothing except it blocks the fire balls
Yeah definitely not the fireballs
It do
Ik there were a couple sets I wanted to try mixing and matching for SNS and CB, I just get them mixed up
With enough guard you could power through and hit him if you're close
I'm running full ceanataur rn and it's fine for CB but I need more
