World is so cinematic compared to rise. Though Rise is certainly better in raw game feel rn

but it means its less focused on the gameplay

Each attack is either a power, speed, or technical and those 3 are in a RPS situation

The cool thing is if you're used to a main series fights you can kinda guess what monsters tend to prefer for attack types each phase (enraged or not)

the thing is, in the first game, monsters randomly choose between two types of attacks

the two types they use is just different depending on their state

so the difficulty in the combat comes from dealing with that

in the second game however, they only use one at a time

but they made up for it by really fleshing out the skills that dont necessarily interact with the RPS

to be fair, IG did break the game

monsters aren't typically designed around hitting hunters out of the air

that's why, in rise, grounded attacks had massive aerial hitboxes

Tigrex's spin is an example of that

those sorts of moves feel frustrating to get hit by

because they don't actually intersect you

but it's hard to make aerial IG work

without completely distorting the balance of the game

since monsters would have to split their attention between attacking the air and the ground

this is a more specific example, but, in world, IG is commonly recommended as a "cheese" weapon for AT Velkhana

who is commonly referred to as the hardest boss in the game

alongside Fatalis

It’s also kinda wacky to me to justify nerfing an entire weapon, rather than giving every monster an attack or two specifically meant to counter aerial attacks. Ik that’s IG’s whole thing, but it’s not like no other weapon in MH history has had aerial attacks

But then you’d have to nerf the handful of other “OP” weapon specific tactics as well if you really wanna even it out. It’s not like IG is the outlier here

It’s lore that was considered for mh1 but never actually canonized. It was in some art book or somethin way back when

Basically the idea is that the ancient civilization tried to built a living weapon that could replicate and rival a dragon. To do so they would hunt and kill a bunch of actual dragons and stick their parts together

I did the double garon quest twice, went to a event quest that had aurora somnacanth in the citadel, broke it's head and gathered the metal/bone materials I needed for the parts, now all I need are 2 cryo sacs and a few more lunagaron bits, so if I do the event quest Purrrrivate eye eye (heh) should have enough mats for the whole shebang

This is all within 2 hours of starting MR

Good news is the set I have rn gives me redirection which tbh is all I need rn

Also I got 4 fucking lunagaron mantles from the event quests lol
