pretty incredible LS play
the fact that this is possible is surprising
Tbf armorless runs have been a thing for a while
Yeah, but you can't say the setups aren't clean
True yes
@tame rampart you want to hunt in like an hour?
anyone want to run a few?
Yeah sure
Thanks for the hunts
sorry, had to go suddenly
thank you for playing with me
I had a lot of fun
I'm glad that I never have to do Primordial Malzeno ever again
No problem, I had a great time
Peak
Yeah kut ku needs to come back
That means Yian Garuga which I have been very happy forgetting existed
One means the other, Unga
Nuh uh
Garuga was in world without kut ku
Ergo. We can get funni birb by himself for once
Yeah, but World had the whole migration thing going on
But
Funny chicken
Nuh uh
Just kill the rajang
I like the chainsaw jaw
Yeah, fits the monster really well
His CB is literally a chainsaw lol
Yeah
That too
Also the red veiny looking part near the shoulder/mouth is a neat touch
Indeed
i imagine when it powers up the plates get spread apart to show more red engine looking stuff
That'd be dope
Ngl, Horizon had a lot of potential to be a cool sci-fi version of MH and it just isn't that at all
Fr
Imagine if we get a MH spinoff game set in the stupidly far off future with robo monsters, and the game takes alot more cues from Frontier going batshit insane with it
HOLY SHIT HOW DID YOU KNOW WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY
Exploring post-apocalyptic cities fighting dope ass mechanimals
And yeah it should 100% take after Frontier
its a perk of being part of unga
we can all read eachothers minds
I know there's not alot of stuff up in my brain but why yall gotta do me like dat
also ive literally said this exact thing before
It's the gorilla factor
We seem to be hitting industrial revolution in Rise so maybe we'll see some technological innovations in 6
it'd be cool to see some new weapons in that case
as well
considering the technological advancement
it would be best if it was advancement in a sillly way
Bring back the Tonfas/Magnet Spikes
like not just gettnig guns and stuff thats boring
theyve gotta keep the like steampunk vibe
They realized they were salvaging CBs wrong and start doing it right
Mechanical body reinforcement in the far off future
You should play GU
CORRECT

It's funny cause I'm dead serious
Bone sock puppets and dragonator mechs
And boltreaver armor
Is just a fucking mechsuit
Actually there's alotta mechsuit sets
Almudron armor:
almudron armor makes you a power ranger
But there's more
Lunagaron armor:
Almudron
almudron armor for your dog literally makes your dog a mech
That's a power ranger/Kamen rider set
like its not armor thats just a mech dog
that reminds me
I wish Garangolm armor went with more stuff
palamute
Dog
you have two dogs?
Mad as in insane
i like the healing from the cat
yeah
why would you do that
More classic MH feel
In the old games you couldn't bring buddies along
I see
BASED BEAST IN BLACK
You could bring a single Palico
In Solo
I wonder if anyone has done a palico damage-only run
probably
but it sounds painful
GU let's you play as them
So yes
You could theoretically in World
this is like "back in my day we had to go through the forest of misfortune to get to school, so you have to walk there too"
Palicos in GU are bad, unfortunately
I'm a MH boomer
Their absolute peak damage in G Rank caps out at the same as your average High Rank hunter
sounds about right
ah
status weapons are amazing
for that reason
they aren't doing much damage anyways
Yeah
so you can sacrifice some attack for higher para/sleep rate
If you're using them might as well get some Paras/sleeps
i think i have like a goss harag sword or something on my palico
I just run sleep-inducing ones on both of mine
I usually get 1-2 sleeps per hunt
which is pretty good
I think Para is better for every weapon besides Greatsword
i should do that
I wanna say there's a way to make prowler more cracked in GU
Nope
I think the meta is run that last stand ability where you trade your freebie lives for more damage
With the Wex and Crit Boost passives you cap out at High Rank damage
so, do most MH games cap out at HR until their expansion/DLC?
Yep
that's unfortunate
have mh games always had dlcs
but it makes sense ig
You used to have to buy a whole new game and start from scratch lol
Tri to 3u? No carry over
At least there's save data transfer for GU
Yeah
oh so its like pokemon
Yeah
The modern world is saving us
Sunbreak is so good
Sunbreak is like
it's practically the main game at this point
Top 5 G Rank expansions
Tbh tho the nice thing about the old method was it kinda feels like they packed more content in to justify the higher pricetag
Top 2 imo
That's fair
I know a lot of people hold 4U 3U in high regard so I figured I'd include those in the running
And worldborne is dead last out of all the ones I've played
but it has fatalis
(Iceborne is balanced shittily overall imo, so I genuinely don't wanna replay it)
All the fights just feel like their Gen 4 versions* but longer due to wicked bloated HP
GU and SB are probably my top 2 regardless ngl
*sans revamps like fatty/alatreon
Rajang?
Metal Raths?
They fall under the revamps
Rajang has such a crazy life cycle throughout Gen 5 MH
But even then, a majority of the fights in the game just feel like they take way to long unless you use the clutch claw, which is a pain in the ass, so either way it sucks
Base Rajang in world is such a fucking menace
And the Furious Rajang was pretty easy
Then easy in base rise
He was an absolute joke in base Rise
Then decently hard again in SB
Then got cracked on Furious
That fucken Psycho crusher man
Such a cool move
Such a pain on anomalies
but it hurts when they do so much damage
you cant just hit a monster you gotta wait for openings, i like it
Yeah, the idea is to learn how to play while surviving
PMalz is probably my favorite fight for that reason
See SB isawesome, cause they actually balanced the monsters around our better movesets,
Unlike a certain other gen 5 game
i like bosses that do that in fromsoft too
you have to know his openings really well
to capitalize on them
you can't go for punishes on every move
because he has 30 followups for every hit
Until you become fucking goated at the game, then every opportunity is a damage opportunity

Soon ™️
I have alot of MH experience, so that shit comes easier to me
I remeber back in GU I could basically sleep through fights and wail on everything
so it's probably just a time thing
I'm still relatively very new to MH and I've managed to achieve higher level gameplay for a brief time
I fought stuff like soulseer so much in GU I could tell when they'd randomly throw out their supers
There's nothing better than predicting when soul seer is aboutta do bubble stinger to parry that shit with valor LS
If that isn't fucking sick gamesense, idk what it
I managed a similar thing for Glavenus in GU
The best part is it still kinda works on apex Mizu in anomaly quests against him
I know GU glavvy like the back of my hand
I could prolly throttle his ass 6 ways to Sunday even now
Getting good at a MH game and being basically unstoppable is one of the best feelings
Indeed
I was prolly in peak form in GU cause I could basically use some version of every weapon
Except LBG
LBG is so fun in GU though
Why play any weapon when HBG exists
Bloodbath HBG my beloved
Valor HBG is the fight skip button of GU
Indeed
I reserve it for:
Deviant grinding
Late game fight grinding
Gravios
Plesioth
You play HBG if you want something dead asap
I exclusively fight Plesioth/Lavasioth with Valor HBG
Stupid ass fish
We having a fucking fish fry with this one

With gravios Clam chowder on the side
We making into the the peak of heaven's mount with this one
We doing Shaggys job better than he ever could with this one

That's what I'm saying
metal gear
Nope, peace walker MH crossover
Snake could fight a tigrex/rathalos with a real ass gun, and they had a unique monster exclusive to those crossover missions, it was called smth like gear rex
Nice
I dunno what it was tonight, but I was in a massive fucking slump for no discernable reason
At least slow-mo ends are sick
On an entirely unrelated note, I have optimized my Bow set damage so much I am dealing in damage increases of 25
Points of damage
Total
Look at this setup and tell me it isn't optimized
Me getting blasted back to the past by 8 years seeing the Generations health notice in a mod
I'm finally free this week, in case you guys play World or Rise.
I am more than down to do hunts in either game
We finally going beyond the two stack
Maybe even 3 if I'm in the mood to eat shit the whole hunt
now we just need a 4th...
Damn, this icon mod really knocked it outta the park on a lot of these
They're fine imo
but those are on another level
I think they're stylized very well
It's a matter of taste anyway.
I mean yeah, I just like to switch it up from time to time
I mean yeah
I think what I don't like very much is the style of the monsters on the icons, it confused me the first few times but you get used to it
The one I like is the LS gauge in the world, in rise I feel it is very flat
Ironic
Yeah
Extra information, due to a lighting issue I don't see the gauge very well so I put a mod on it
I like that the rise is curved, it tells you that it is a katana.
If the HUD and the icons are functional, I won't complain after all.
It is difficult to make a good HUD
Anyone down for hunts tonight?
sure, I'd be down in 30 mins or so
Dope
You almost ready to get started?
aerelkrhgadkl;f
Yep
im gonna use that line

like im gonna go up to someone on discord and just send this

You could join us, Unga
I could, but will I?
It's not that I don't wanna
It's just idk if I wanna rebuy a game I've already basically 100%ed
I mean, there's a lot of shit on Nexus that makes progress recovery easier
There's that one surge slash GS mod that looks fun
Does anyone play in a while longer?
I finish a modeling job in substance and I am free
(It's 5 pm here)
I'd down soon
When did you want to start?
should be there in 2 hours
Sounds good
We still good for hunts?
I'm finishing texturing some models and I enter
Alright
Alright
Did you accept my friend request on Steam?
Now I accept it, I had not checked, sorry
It's cool
listo 👍
Passcode's 2562
2 models and entered
Ah, okay
They are being rendered, it shouldn't take more than 20 minutes, sorry if I keep you waiting xd
It's fine
ready
Dope
Gambling is good, actually
aprovecho, para desde el fondo de mi alma, maldecir la existencia del rajang XD
surprisingly satisfying
and completely unintentional
I wish that the third hit killed instead of the second
but it is what it is
You hit every button on the controller and then some in the beginning there lmao
the LS experience
I was just trying to get away from Espinas
so I wouldn't be punished
I see
@heady goblet been thinking of learning a new weapon
and I'm heavily considering bow
do you have any recommendations / advice?
I have a lot
Evade skills go brrr
swaxe and cb are two other weapons that I'm interested in
CB fun
Firstly, do you know what shot types are?
I know absolutely nothing about bow
maybe I should watch some gameplay
well, I know what you've told me
when we've played
but not much more than that
Basically, shot types are the way the bow fires arrows, and there's three types
Spread, Rapid, and Pierce
Each one has different strengths and weaknesses
Spread deals the highest damage per-volley but is the most volatile of the shot types due to you needing to maintain a close proximity to the monster
Rapid has the most consistency, and is very reliable for hitting one spot on a monster, but deals the lowest damage of the three
Pierce has the most range but the least consistency due to arrows flying out of the monster/good hitzones and not dealing their full damage
I see
Spread seems like fun
it seems remiscent of how LS plays
where you stay really close to the monster
and dodge / counter attacks coming your way
You can think of it like that
Also
Might Bow is a mandatory skill to have on bow
And only the two highest shot levels matter, as those are the two you'll be using the most
do you have any spread bow recommendations?
I know that bow relies on ele damage
as you've conveyed to me
in the past
These are the best ones
I see
They're also the only ones
is that risen crimson glow?
Except for Ice
It should be base, I don't remember if there's a Risen upgrade
the raw looks pretty bad for risen
so it's probably base
I see
interesting
the ele sources are so unique
nothing is the same as LS
Yeah, but slightly lower raw isn't an issue at all for Bow
why is the Velk bow preferred?
it has pretty low ele
that's the main issue with it on LS
at least
I think because it's more forgiving on Slots?
Rare crab W
I don't remember the reasoning I'm not gonna lie
Ceanatar is the best Raw pierce bow too, that's what's crazy
Crab Ws for days
I remeber when rustrazor weapons were great in GU
A shitton of raw+shitton of white+bonus Art charge was nice
Crab LS baybee
I started using the Silverwind LS over it though'
all of the meta LS weapons come from end-game monsters
outside of ice
which comes from auroracanth
I guess that fire and water aren't end-game as well
but I hate Almudron and Magmadron
The hellblade LS is cool as fuck
TRUE
I love me some straight blade LSs
Hellblade Swaxe is my favorite Swaxe
The last galic Flame my beloved
Imo the best one too
I liked Valstrax for Valor Tempest Axe
Dragon phial isn't a issue, if you just barely use sword mode
Me when the phial damage also applies to axe with the R combo
I'm not gonna sugar coat it
X>RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
The Duality of Valor SA
You either go Tempest axe->lots of cris cross slashes
Or Just spam the R combo lol

I'm glad rise introduced the better X followup from Tempest on the base SA
Now all we need are all the other buffs lol
They sorta brought back the R combo spam in Rise
am I looking at the wrong page, or the TU5 Bow meta doc incredibly empty?
https://imgur.com/a/kyJjLpl
this one
from /r/monsterhuntermeta
Nah, it's all showing up for me
I do wish there was a skill priority section though
Bow and SnS are the two polar opposites
@heady goblet I've seen that quite a few sites recommend the full cgore set for bow
would you say that's a decent option?
what do you run?
It can be, I personally run Dereliction, but that's a pretty volatile setup
ah
what armor pieces do you use?
I should be able to access everything that doesn't have to do with risen shagaru/valstrax
I don't remember the full armor setup, I will have to let you know when I get a good chance to check it
got it, thank you
You doing them solo?
Unfortunately yes, none of my "friends" want to help me, the funny thing is that then they complain and start calling me skill issue
I didn't have a good day today, I come to de-stress and I leave with more stress
At least they added scaling to him in the last update
Of course
It's really wonky
But it's there
anything is better than hunting fatalis after all
Nah, Fatalis while absurd is a really good fight
I didn't like fatalis, I actually like Alatreon better
I like the idea of using all means to kill Fatalis but it bothers me to kill you with one blow of the tail with the entire life bar.
I mean fatalis follow the logic of objective, obstacle and means
what is the basic triad
objective, kill Fatalis, obstacle, the reduced environment with the addition that it is mandatory to break his skull, media, all the crossbows, the mobile crossbow, harpoons and environment pieces, on paper I like it, but the reward broke the game, it is mandatory have fatalis armor
Maybe I'm the one who doesn't quite understand the monster
I also hate him because I had to kill him alone
1 whole month
I'm not complaining about the rest, my only real problem with Safi is that he knocks you to the ground again and again even if you counter him with the LS.
Then there is kulve, which of the monsters is one of my favorites along with the zinogre
and alatreon I love it
Ice, Thunder, Dragon
interesting
I recognize absolutely 0 of those pieces
outside of the risen teostra chest
alluring evelia is velkhana
Fire, Water
and archfiend armor sceros is gaismagorm
Violet Mizu, Risen Teo, Lucent Narga, Silverlos, Giasmagorm
whats primordial coil
Primordial Malzeno waist
primalz?
yep
Crit Boost 3, Wex 2 4-1-1
I think another good one I have is Constitution 5, Crit Boost 2 4-1-1
If it wasn't Crit Boost 2
It was Evade Extender 3
I love me some tailismans that max a set unique skill like powder/wind mantle so I don't have to fuck around tryna get them on a build
Wind mantle is baller
I got Dereliction on a charm once
I got a buildup boost/chammy bless 3, 3-2-1 which is pretty damn good on lucent weapons
BB3
Oh yeah, that like he ideal BB charm
Only think that'd prolly make it better would be if it had stat trigger built in
But even then it's still good
Stat trigger/evade skills would let you take use of foray better
Cause of how that skill works
Foray kinda slept on FR fr
I run Foray level 3 on my Lucent build
because I can't hit 100% affinity consistently otherwise
Yeah it's basically inverted maxed out agitator of only 3 slots
Instead of like, 20 raw/15% affinity, it's like 15 raw 20% affinity iirc
For way less slots
bro i didnt know there was even a bloodborne 2, and now theres a third???
but a flat attack boost is unfortunate
Downside is the monster is gonna be enraged alot more
They should just give us Agitator back
is buildup boost even worth bothering with on bow?
Tbf, if more attack boosting skills were percentage based shit would get outta hand real quick
No
it's good on LS
But all the evade skills
but idk on bow
Bow has more important skills to slot in
You could basically maintain a peaked out stat trigger
I see
so it's just a matter of slots
then
I guess that's fair
And status is pretty bad on it
Wait
Does BB get a guaranteed proc on status coatings?
No
the fact that the optimal charge blade armor set is full PMalz gear
is so strange
(according to the doc in mhmeta)
I can see it
I can't recall
I just wish that PMalz didn't require shieldwings for his armor and weapons
it has a horrible hitzone (his wings)
so breaking the part is a genuine chore
that's the Valstrax skill, right?
Risen but ye
It converts elem resist into elem attack
Combine that with dragonheart for a dragon specific CB build and that fucker can go nuts with damage
Cause dragon heart gives you dragonblight at 80% hp, while setting all elem resists to 50 when maxed out, plus it gives a overall raw 10%
Plus valstrax soul rampage deco for 20% extra dragon damage when you get dragon blight, and well
It's nuts
Obscene even
The monsters are lucky dragonheart locks you into dragon elem, cause if it didnt
Shit would not be good for monsters
Lowkey, elem CB is in the running for this games "I don't wanna fight this monster" weapon pick
and synergy with Blood Rite
Iirc is up there with vlastraxes CB
The problem is bloodrite is a double edged sword if you go the dragonheart route
Bow would be if you didn't explode from getting hit
You heal
But if you heal over 80%, all of the sudden you lose all that obscene dragon elem
Other than that, idk,
The slots on it would help immensely with slotting in dragonheart
But valstraxes CB has enough white to never worry about sharpness skills basically ever (when maxed out with augments iirc it gets like, 156 hits of white, without any extra skills)
So it's really a preference thing
Tbh I'm glad SBs endgame turned out this well
It's realitively balanced pretty damn well
Yeah
The only game I'd wager with better "balance" would be GU, cause that game literally every weapon can be maxed out/built around
There's a starting Longshore that's a comically large bone that you can max out in upgrades to get 370 raw and a shitton of green sharpness
You can make a bludgeoneeer build around that
And it's hilarious
It's nice seeing the meta in SB evolve over TUs, but it's not like World where it felt like shit just kept getting power crept until we got powercrept into fatty gear being just downright obscene
I feel like if we ended at Ala it would've been chill
To me I think it's insane that for a while, non elemental boost was a meta skill, until around raging bracchy/safi where the devs said fuck it, made those weapons waaaaaay better than any non elemental options, so the skill just, fell off statwise
Like I'm 90% sure they slapped a bit of dragon elem on fatty weapons, just so they can't get non elemental boost
They would've been so overturned if they had got non-ele boost
IB balancing is so funny to me
Cause like, the game was designed in everyway to neuter our max dps output
From the baseline changes with The HP bloat/clutch claw, to nerfing strong tools like Temporal mantle/WeX
To later on, stuff like making IKs more prominent to counteract tanks builds, making all the new weapons stronger than previous availible weapons, but giving giving elements so Non elem boost is useless, to literally forcing us to use elemental in alatreons fight
But then at the end they give us the most outright Broken set in MH history, with obscene slots, good skills, and the ability to Literally max out every secret skill really kind of reads as the devs saying "fuck it, we give up trying to balance this game, take the op shit and leave"
And them slapping a pitiful amount of dragon elem and negative affinity on fatty weapons was them flipping us the bird on the way out
Inversely, with how PriMalzenos gear is (good, But not the meta) , it feels alot more like the devs were going "alright, good job, here's a good comfy set with with a pretty sick as hell set bonus skill for anomalies/general fights post part breaks"
I forgot whether I had to capture or kill for the material I needed
so I had to improvise
i do that all the time lol
MH moment
got a cb3 spread boost 1 talisman
with 3/2/1 slots
is that good for bow?
or should I aim higher
I farmed a spread boost 2 deco
as well
so I'd be able to get all 3 with that + this talisman
That's pretty good if you don't have CB already on your build, since you can get away with just using up a 4 slot for the rest of the spread up
Unless you're gunning for a specific skill like The shot boosts/redirection or smth like that you can basically treat lvl3 slots as just lvl 2 slots
Yeah, I'd say it's at least half decent
I think that I mean wex
actually
I hope that I do....
if I don't, then I'm an actual idiot
I mean, there's always the set search
WeX/CB are both good skills to get maxed out on a tailisman cause they don't have any lvl 4 deco
So you either have to build around it with armor skills, or sacrifice 3 2 slots for each
Ah, berserk spread bow
Based as fuck actually
I'm just trying to get my bearings
rn
since there are some monsters that I don't like hunting with LS
(Bazelgeuse)
Berserk spread bow best spread bow
Go to blue, get in their face and tear them up
The unlimited stamina is sick
Pro tip, berserks HP drain is reset everytime you swap out/back to blue
yep
I'm also considering running the healer palico secret skill
and kushala blessing 3
to further alleviate the health drain
So if you get nuked, switch then switch again to mitigate the boosted drain rate
Personally, i think speed eat+gourmet fish is a fun alternative to that
Since that gives the kush overheal buff too
Tho kush blessing 3 might be easier to gem onto chaotic set
yep
Yes
Yeah
They do stack
Plus with immunizers
Gourmet fish heal off all your red HP when eaten
They're great for high lvl anomalies if you don't wanna risk it
Cause all that extra damage is dealt as red HP
I see
yeah, anomaly investigations are starting to get tough
now that I've passed the 100 mark
I'm sure that they'll only get worse
Also recovery speed if you wanna get mental with the HP
I hear that blood rite is also decent
for that
but finding a way to fit the 4-slot deco is giving me a headache
I would go for the 3-slot one
If you can try and get someone to post the chaotic gore research quest (unlocked at like lvl 220 ish iirc, but doable at mr 10)
That gives afflicted direblood for intrepid heart decos
Which are lvl 1 btw
It's great as a one off
I can clutter the top left of my screen even more
If you can, the A9 research quests (hazard risen val/shaggy) let you make lvl 4 atk boost/crit eye decos
yep
but I can't
since I'm not AR241+
unfortunately
I'm almost halfway there
though
I also haven't fought normal risen shagaru or valstrax
Nono like
If someone is mr 241, and they unlock the anomaly research quests (not investigations) those are just mr 10 locked
?
Same with the chaotic gore one
I don't have access to the A9 research quests
or the normal Risen Shagaru/Valstrax ones
and I'm MR105
But someone else can get them, and post them for you to join
It's like the normal risen quests
They're mr 110+ locked, but If say, a mr 999 guys posts, a mr 10 can join it
me and Axalu
Not for the investigations tho, cause that scales off AI lvl
I feel like half of what we've done together has been risen elders
because I can't access them solo
lol
Risen elders go hard
They're pretty neato
yep
I had to farm Kushala and Chameleos
for some gear
I need to farm even more Kushala now...
I have the entire armor set
now I just need 3 decos
Honestly I think they're all fun, except hazard Risen Valstrax/Shaggy, those just feel unfun
But that's the amped up super boosh endgame version
He's all aoe
since he has followup explosions on his attacks
yep
and that's painful
when you can only counter one hit at a time
I don't think that you can chain counters fast enough as well
from what I've seen
Just play old LS and don't parry
If you try to parry ou will die
I guess
but that feels relatively unfun imo
it's the same reason I dislike fighting Bazelgeuse
it feels like using a big pointy stick
Unless you do smth like sacred slash release parry->foresight dodge->tempered spirit blade
instead of a longsword
You can chain parries together fairly fast with the sacred sheathe release parry
the base moveset doesn't feel very interesting
I do like the switch skill draw attack
and the x+a move
That was all LS was pre GI lol
but the stabs feel very unremarkable
It was the MH footsies weapon
Cause it was as long as a GS, with the speed of a sns
Then Gen gave us critical juncture (basically serene pose, but with a longer charge time/more(?) Damage)
Then GU said "fuck it, parry at the start of the valor mode spirit combo"
It's peak LS
The hold sheathe is like sacred premature sheathe parry, with no downside
And the valor parry is just perfection
Imagine tempered spiritblade
But on one button
can you do it from neutral?
Yep
that sounds incredible
Hold up i got a clip
tempered spirit blade already feels amazing
and there used to be something better than it?
YES
I mean you had to build up to valor mode
But that shit was easy
This seri
This Is peak LS
That. Fucking. Soundeffect
Perfection
it's unfortunate that you're fighting one of the worst monsters in rise
though
the fight is probably fine, I'm just bad at it
There's no leveling up meters
Or wacky after image damage
Just a parry, that gives some spirit gauge, and let's you go straight into your lvl 3 reckoning combo
wait
The shogun fight is fun as fuck with ls imo
there are no meter levelups?
Not in valor
You hit valor mode, and get blue sword
Which is basically red
But cooler looking imo
Another nice thing was how fast the reckoning combo used to be
The cross slash was wicked quick and the double overhead slash was way faster too
Also this was one of my favorite gu clips
Fun fact, all the GS hunter arts in GU got retooled into other moves for rise
Brimstone->rage slash
Lions maw->power sheathe
Moonbreaker->hunting edge
Ground slash->the 1st 2 X+A moves in the Surge slash combo specifically
proof of a hero is so good
the gameplay on display makes it even better
The fact the beat dropped as I hit his head was sick
that swing looked meaty
I wish that the game still zoomed in
when you do TCS
in Rise
It does for rage slash a bit
Personally, I like rage slash way more
It's just way less of a pain to use naturally without cheating it out
strongarm stance
Like the omnidirectional aiming/armor helps aton
Yeah exactly that lol
Tbh tho I think IB had one of the lowkey craziest ways to cheese out TCS
If you do attack, you can slinger burst, then immediately go into TCS
Like, it's not buffed like Strongarm is
But it's basically off everything as long as you have slinger ammo
Which is alot, cause there's pretty much something everywhere
World imo is pretty good in the base games but ib kinda caps on the bed
Like it's not bad
I just don't like how IB is balanced
Because the clutch claw is just the worst
Iirc I vaguely remeber there being a community patch or smth for IB that rebalances the game to be less Clutch claw reliant
I just realised smth
We could all totally play frontier together
Yeah
I definitely wanna try and get my hands on Magnet Spike
Yeah
Ballin
Also love the idea of long GS
Kinda surprised that whole system hasn't been ported to the mainline series yet
It's pretty clever tbh
Shoot
good one
anyways
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but dodgebolt has been incredibly difficult to use
for parrying
is the window meant to be as tight as it seems?
I dunno, I don't use Dodgebolt
Hold on a sec
to clarify
you said "shoot"
like how a bow shoots arrows
lol
that's why I said that
I do, I just really hate how Dodgebolt feels to play
I just kinda dodge around to keep my charge level up, and to proc Adrenaline Rush
Yeah
No problem
I understood why you said that, I just thought it was a common enough statement in response to the proposition that it would not be construed as a joke
ah
that's reasonable
I just couldn't resist commenting on it when I noticed the potential interpretation of "shoot" in that context
sorry if that made you uncomfortable
No it's fine, I just thought I would clarify my reaction more
I love how for the apexes they were trying to kind of be subtle about the fact they're discount deviants, sticking to a general consistent muted color pallette with red highlights but for apex zinogre they were like "fuck it, this is just straight up a thunderlord"
They did it with Diablos too iirc
I hope we see deviants again fr next time
Apex diablos is notably alot closer to bloodbath than the others
Same
Deviants were the best side-endgame
But I think that's more cause they generally liked to use dark blue/purple for their apexes by default (azuros is dark blue, rathian is purple, mizu is dark purple/blue highlights, rathalos has a dark blueish gloss effect applied over his normal color pallette, and bloodbath had the same blueish gloss effect, but way more concentrated
Deviants imo are still way more reasonable than anomaly grinding
I just wish that Anomaly Grinding had more variety
Not only is it 100% optional
It's just way shorter
because you end up just fighting the same monster
in the same way
129803219319 times
You can spice it up
to level up your AR
But then you lose out on optimization
yep
Take the quest with one faint, just don't faint
exactly
Imo every anomaly Quest should've given at least half a bar if It was level appropriate with one's with good multipliers giving more
I tihnk that I've done Anomaly Gore Magala
over 50 times
at this point
fun fight
Check your notes
but not after the thousandth time
Like it's a fun idea going back to the 4U guild quest idea
I just wish I wasn't punished for not running the most high end one I got, instead focusing on the ones with monsters I like
I think the biggest issue is that Anomalies aren't really all that different
Aside from their damage getting higher and the AoE for failing the DPS race
Anomalies imo are different enough because of the bloodblight/dps check/weakzones imo
I just wish the hp wasn't obscene
The best endgame quests are the ones where both you and the monster die fast
But I've failed it maybe 10 times across all the anomaly hunts I've done
bow is so strong for anomaly quests
you can just stack fatigue
since your shots do a lot of exhaust damage
For me on the later ones (280+ish?) solo it's kinda hard to beat the check with GS sometimes
and, whenever you pass the dps check, the monster takes a ton of exhaust damage as well
it makes clear times so much better
I didnt even realise exhaust actually even affected anomalies
I just assumed it was like GU hypers where exhaust was useless. (Cause beating the check is basically a forced exhaust)
None of the spread bows that are good use exhaust coatings though so it's kinda unfortunate
yep
I gotta say tho
I'm surprised they didn't really lean into speeding up monster attacks for anomalies like with the hypers
