Light Bowgun is fun
yes
yes it is
it jsut becomes a pain for with all the munitons type
also
don't forget to check the stuff you can add on bowguns
(silencer/long cannon)
I added long cannon

silencer is only useful inmultiplayer anyway
oh,also warning your right now before you get one and wander if it's a bug
some lbg/hbg don't shoot straight
(there's armor skills to fix it if you need to later on)
I went on a hunt
Realised I killed wrong monster xD
In terms of ammo
I'm out of ammo
Two monsters in

There's one thing I dislike, how much info I need to find online
Like, what's Affinity in armor skills?
just pick up stuff and craft ammo
you're in low rank
stuff to craft piercing ammo is everywhere
:D
(lvl 1 piercing ammo I mean)
:3
I jsut use and abuse that stuff in low rank lbg
plus it's designed this way anyway
also
you can just...go back to camp and grab more items in the tent/change your gear
your chest is there
but seriously,pick up.gathering.ressources.as you hunt.
I can what

not much of a need to do that in low rank though apart from grabbing ranquilizer to capture
jsut gather stuff as you hunt
a single pick up of the thing you need to craft piercing ammo allows you to make 40 piercin bullets thingy (lvl 1)
and it's evrywhere
AND it repops quickly
use and abuse picking up sstuff to craft ammo
cause you'll need it.
you can add shortcuts to crafting specific items on your radial shortcuts thingy
:D
set it to craft max and bam.
done.
then again it auto crafts them as you pick them up
up to your max limit for items, then you can craft from shortcut once you run out again if you still have enough of those herbs
:D
https://blogs-images.forbes.com/kevinmurnane/files/2018/01/Plant-harvest_MH_YT.jpg the plant look like this for ammo ressources.
(it's a world screenshot but it's the same shape)
JUST PICK UP ANY ITEMS YOU COME BY ANYWAY
:D
POV: you knocked down Izuchi and you had special ammunition loaded
machinegun goes brrrrrr

I unlocked Switch Skills
ha ha,you unlocked SOME switch skills

you unlock a few switch skills simply by making a few different weapons
as in,making enough lbgs for exemple
I think there's another for quests or something ?
or was it enough village quests ? I forgor.
then there's some where you need to do a high rank quest for each skill
and then some more in the dlc

YES
the melee hit with the arrow still does slicing damage
melee bow tail cuts are the best

First you get by progressing
Then by making/upgrading 8 weapons (this can be cheese just by making the same weapon like 8 times however)
Then each weapon has a unique HR quest for the 3rd switch skill in base rise
In SB every weapon gets their new non skilkbind switch skill in the switch skill swap tutorial, then unlocks all the new silkbinds like halfway through MR4
delightfully precise,neat
oh right there's a guard point/counter witht he melee bow hit
hue hue hue
oh right I forgot
there's a tree in the place where youg et more cat and dogs
and where you send them on mission
at top of the trees you'll get items once in a while
your pet owl is nice.
I'm sorry wha

it's not crazy it doesn't block everything, but it helps get you through a lot of shit
sure feels like it's been nerfed since the laste time I abused ti though
but yeah it's still pretty good
:D
it's on the switch skill where you hit melee with an arrow
Dodgebolt?
it's tiny and fragie but bit of a guard point
prolly dun't know the english names of the skills and won't risk translating them
since msot of the time it's a different name more than translated
Today I managed to solo my triple kush/valstrax/anomaly rajang investigation with no carts or buddies
Took me 40 minutes
BUT GET DUNKED ON YA STUPID BASTARDS
True and real
Bow is Chipp
Am I wrong?
Leo has survivability
Neither is Chipp, but that's only because he's impossible to hit
Your Chipps are using Alpha Blade?

Is there a armor skill to buff bows powershot?
Make sure your level 3 and level 4 shot types match
And make sure you use the shot type buff for the respective shot type of the last two levels
Yes
Ok
Oh
Chaotic set got me acting silly
You want elemental attack
Makes me miss old dash juice
Ok
Why?
It allows coatings to be auto equiped when selected
Just swap to a coating, and then swap back to it
I like close range coating cause I got infinite of em
Power Coatings are objectively better though
Bit close range is more btaindead
You say that like I won't point blank the monster 24/7
Berserk is a pathway to many....unnatural abilities
How can I play multiplayer in MH?
hub quests, they're the one in the building htingy close to the dango chef lady
there, when you pick a quest, you can pick the option to request help (people willjoin from the board thingy)
or you can talk to the cat that gives you the event quests to make/join a session, where you'll be in someone's village and ask them for help
(usually people pick one quest each on a rotation)
although it might be hard to find people for low rank quests now
especially since the dlc came out
I'd still recommend doing most of low rank on your own as tutorial
high rank is harder after all...and dlc is even harder

to be precise,Hinoa gives you quest you can't go in multipayer (village quest)
Minoto gives you the quests that can be done in multiplayer
oone thing to keep in mind htough
Hinoa's quests, village quests, really are meant as tutorial.the monsters there have lower health than they do in minoto's quests
Yeah, I realised that

How's hoonting by the way Tako?
jsut finished my first hunt of the day
I4ll probably finish the 2Nd lvl of high rank today
2 key quests left after all
unless I go weapon hoping again

I do like melee bow but I usually get tired of it quickly and go straight back to doot
I mean, I think I might be able to phase out my rapid bows if I can finalize all my spread bows
I'm currently back to bows
but in a few days I went GS;HH,and now bow
I'm addicted to weapon hopping
send help
and lbg at some point as wel
oh the dodgebolt thingy can send a volvidon flying when he's charging right at you, right

Imma be honestly
Playing bow like a melee weapon is fun as hell
God I hate afflicted Monster farming
Oi star Someone stole your drip

Whaaaaaaaaaaaa
Yknow, there's a special kind of pride when you hunt with a rando a couple of times and you see them progress
Yknow
Maybe element on GS isn't cringe
Considering it cut my anomaly furious George hunt time in half
Apparently my MHR playtime this year on the my Nintendo year review thingy was over 600 hours
And my GU one was 330
The next highest game was somehow warframe at 75
Is it just me or does zinogre feel weirdly tuned up for MR in Sunbreak co.pared to alot of other monsters?
Yeah but also like he just feels like way more aggressive in SB compared to literally any other game
Like it feels like I'm fighting a thunderlord more than a normal MR zinogre
Like he almost feels like how IB zinogre shoulda felt, considering he was locked behind endgame (for some godforsaken reason)
I'm not gonna sugarcoat it
In terms of balancing in general for MR I think IB was shitty
Like
Zinogre yian Garuda locked behind endgame
Oh, definitely
Ruiner nergi locked to MR 100
Metal Raths were way too crazy for when you unlocked them
While fatalis is only MR 24
Same with alatreon
Then there's the whole clutch claw debacle
Idk
On one hand
Fatty hits like a fucking truck, and has a shorter time limit than normal, meaning you have to be 100% on your game basically
On the other
Eschaton judgement can fuck up your whole team if someone's element ain't up to snuff/someone lagging
So idk
Personally I wish eschaton judgement was less intrusive to the fight
Like putting the entire fight on pause to force you to chug HP items is just lame imo
Like I'm fine with the "use element to weaken it schtick" I just wish it was like a normal move, you can like, dodge normally
Not some wack ass instakill move
I know
But like that's the problem here imo
No matter what, you're getting hit
It's not like a espicynas nuke. Or the valstrax ambush, or a anomaly burst you can dodge
You getting forced to take damage just kinda feels disingenuous
Well, you can farcast out before it happens, and that essentially serves the same purpose
Which granted
Is an expensive dodge
...didn't they make farcasters illegal in that fight?
No
Wait what the hell?
You can farcast at any point except for when Escaton is happening
Oh
That's the only caveat
...did they change that later?
No, that was the state from day 1
I coulda sworn they said something about farcasters not working at all in the fight
Huh
Like I swear the tutorial window when you went in there said something along the lines of "farcasters don't work on the lowest lvl of the secluded valley" or some bull like that
Yeah nah, that's not how the Ala fight works
PC
Did the PC version catch up to the console version update wise by the time alatreon came out?
Cause I remwber there was like a time where they were a few updates behind or something
I believe they caught up with the Safi update
Huh
I think
I think the game just fuckin lied to me or I misread the tutorial message wrong
Did you ever do the event version?
Yeah
Hmmmm
Very odd
So those sickos fucking lied
Because I have Farcast out of that level
Did you farcaster out vs Safi maybe?
Because there it works unless he's doing sapphire of the emperor
No, I never needed to Farcast on Safi
Honestly I think they mightve changed it later down the line
It's possible
Cause like
That'd explain the me thinking you couldn't use it
Yet you could
Idk
All in all I hope to gog they don't drop the ducking ball in terms of boss balance in SB with some MMO ass balancing decision
Like so far I'd say all the boss balancing for SB has been on point
Depends on how much you like MMOs
Only thing I'm midly agitated by is how fast scorned magnamalo is
My brain Doesn't think something that big should move that fast
Valstrax tho
Like honestly, the anomaly bursts feel pretty balanced, also, I can dodge those normally, so we good
He's a rocket dragon
It's expected
He is bigger and faster
Yeah, but he's got rockets for wings
And Magnamalo has been showcased to move incredibly fast in his base form
Yeah
I guess that's fair
admittedly this is a big me problem, I think both those schmucks move too fast for being zinogre sized
But it's notably worse on scorned
Zinogre is also incredibly fast my guy
He's not like nargacuga tho who has a nasty habit of jumping behind you
Magnamalo got that
Natgacuga is cool
Silverwind Nargacuga is my favorite deviant
The other thing is, nargacuga is predictable as hell
Like, he jumps behind you, he's gonna either pounce ya or take a wing slash at ya, all of which can be reacted to pretty well
Scorned get shit like his stupidly fast tailstab, the air spins, the arm slashes, etc
...seriously is it just me or does that tailstab feel like ludicrously fast
Not really, it's pretty well telegraphed imo
I mean I guess when your in the thick if it yeah
I also abuse the fuck outta target cam, so there's that
But like, if you're on the other side of the map and he starts doing it at yoh while your like healing, that shits a legit jumpscare
He just fucking flies across the entire map In .1 second to stab me In The fucking face
You use the auto track cam or the hit l to center on target can?
I use the latter
Maybe I'm not abusing target cam enough?
Idk
When I get frontiers I'm never taking off the rathalos armor
Also pogsioth is fucking cursed
I'm not even putting it on
Today I had a funny experience
I was playing with a guy using HH
Dude was pretty new considering he barely Broke MR (was like MR68)
He Kept dying (probably cause he was using the ||archfiend|| armor but still)
So yknow what I do?
Use HH Myself and spam heals to prevent death
Also taught him the importance of bringing the right horn to the right situation
By demonstrating with the toaster HH to show how much antidote+health recovery (s) just denys chameleos his ability to fight back
Makes me miss the athal ka HH from GU tho
Being able to invalidate EX dreadqueens entire fuckin gimmick?
Priceless
I think I've discovered the unironic worst kind of hunter
The fuckin assholes who join a lobby and just post their own quest not giving a damn about anything else
Like I was helping a guy through MR
Two fuckin assholes join and post their own quests and refuse to fuckin help the lower MR guy
Like
If you're gonna do that, why not make your own damn lobby ffs
Jokes on those dickheads tho
Helped the guy go from MR 4->final boss
Which was cool
I think I just ran into the most chuuni MH player known to man
MFer called his CB playstyle "bloody axe style"
Like on one hand
Cool Name
On the other
He named his playstyle bloody axe style
And all his auto shootouts sounded like anime Protagonist lines
Like
My God
True!
But again
Bloody
Axe
Style
I mean I joked before about basically playing adept style 2.0 with redirection/strongarm stance but that doesn't really fit the bill
In terms of chuuni
Do
Do I go full chuuni?
Meanwhile my weapon only has like one commonly used playstyle
how it feels to be a lance main
I mean
Evade lancing vs guard lancing has been a thing for a while tbf
But yeah that's a less big difference in playstyle
Imma do a quick AITA Here
AITA for not joining a lower MR rank guy on his quest because he showed up into a lobby opened by someone else who was tryna do their own thing?
For some context this was a guy who was MR 3, me and the other person were helping the og lobby member (who was MR 2) do their quests
The MR 3 guy (guy who joined) was also acting pretty downbad for the other 2 people in the lobby (both of em' had female hunters), and also was kinda demanding we do his quests, and cussed everyone out when we didn't give into his begging
AITA?
Nah
I had the most absurd hunt today
It was that one rajang event in the arena that gives you a crap ton of eggs/money, catch is there's a magmudron to annoy you, and I beat it with 0 faints
The catch?
I was playing with someone, and they went afk, Mid hunt, in the arena
So I used the fence to lock me, the monke and the magmudron on one side for the ultimate death match, spamming team heal items when the mons got outta line and attacked the afk person
And I beat it solo in like 17 minutes with 2 player scaling
does the game pass version for Rise have crossplay with people from other platforms including steam?
This is crossplay between Xbox and windows I think?
Something like that
MH crossplay would be very pog
Extremely Pog, actually
I was hoping for (with very little expectations) to have Steam crossplay
Yes, I do want to roll up to some rando HR 1 Xbox player's hunt with maxed flaming espinas gear and obliterate shit, how could you tell?
do you guys all play Steam?
man, cross save is a thing on witcher 3,you'd think on monster hunter they would be able to
Nah, I'm the only active PC player here
I am on the switch
I play on steam for rise now,but I haven't caught up to my switch save yet
wait expansions aren't included in gamepass is it
As far as I know, at least
I dont think sunbreak is even out for the main consoles yet
usually it doesn't,iceborne is not in it,and it's not in the ps+ thingy either
I shold go back and continue that steam save at some point

How'd it go?
I used Greatsword/Dual Blades and I believe Heavy Bowgun
Cool, Heavy Bowgun is pretty fun
Then there’s me, who has only played lance since first picking up the game
I more or less end up with different weapons almost every games now
mhworld I played hammer for world, longsword for iceborne
rise I played lbg in the begining, moved on to HH,played a fair bit of dualblades and melee bow
mhgu was greatsword
mhfu I'm GS/LS
and mh4u was GS as well.
barely started mh3u,didn't play much of it yet
I wanted to try out flying in the air with insect glaive
I tried a bit in world,it was nice
The kinsect changing my entire movekit was a bit of a change but it was fun for the few hunts I did
Aerial lance ended up being more familiar
I think it was the bushido GS I used in mhgu ? the one with the dodge thingy.
'twas fun

mhgu got pretty nice hitboxes sometimes, too

Must be one introduced in MHGU
I played more MHG on 3ds
I got back into mh with world, then got mhgu
and proceeded to being unable to go back when icebornecame out cus it was shite compared to mhgu

GU is so full of content as well,it's crazy
I think the anomaly lvl System in Sunbreak finally broke me
I'm considering actually making a scum CC build, just to make it end faster
Yeah, anomalies are less fun to grind out than Hypers, or Deviants, or even fucking Tempereds
Honestly, anomalies I feel are the most interesting way they've done the "fight this monster again, but with a new universal gimmick" type of endgame schtick so far
The problem is the leveling system is bullshit
That's fair, but I feel like the grind itself is just the absolute fucking worst
That too
And all the good shit is gated behind high level shit
Why couldn't they at least give us anomaly quest versions of the new investigations monsters?
I did the math, assuming you get about a 3rd of a lvl worth of EXP for doing a investigation at your current level (which is somewhat generous), that's 600+ (probably) quests you have to do to get max lvl
For reference, doing 684 deviant quests in GU literally could get you a full set of fully upgraded deviant armors and a weapon, for each deviant
That's at least 18 maxed out weapons, and 18 maxed out armor sets
And the kicker?
The deviant quests (relatively) are way faster to blast through
Surely you get more, right?
So it's not unreasonable to blast through a whole deviant line in a day
You can blast through at least one Deviant line in a single night
We talking like
8 pm to 11 pm at the latest
And hell, helping other players with their deviants? Sure you don't get unlock the next quest unless you posted, but you still get the ticket for the equipment
In SB? If you're busy helping a lower MR player with their anomaly grind, you're basically getting jack shit from it
You get no points
Lower end materials you prolly got a thousand of
And the worst part
With how shittily the difficulty is scaled, odds are, the anomaly Quest will actually end up taking LONGER IN MULTIPLAYER than if you just sat down and soloed it
At least Tempereds always had a chance to drop that good, good shit
I once got a Attack+ and Dragon Attack+ in Iceborne from a single Temp Velkhana Investigation
Needless to say
That's been the peak of my luck
Like, that type of shit genuinely makes me kind of hate dynamically scaled HP
Like yknow what, GU yet again, has the best game balance, I can solo most shit in like 8~10 minutes (entirely reasonable), but if I play in multiplayer, no matter what, it'll always be faster than this bullshit in anomalies
Like
Why. In. The. Fuck. Is. It. Faster. For. Me. To. Solo. It.
Cool
Idk if it's just me being good at the game or what, but I stg, my multiplayer hunt times always feel longer than if I solo that shit
*in SB
Yeah, that's because all the best hunters just play GU, since it's the best one
That or MHFZ
Like, I can kill a furious George normally in like 10 ish minutes
I helped a newer player who just hit that urgent
That shit took 20 minutes
Like, I get it, first encounter and all
But. WHAT THE HELL
Yeah, the scaling is fucked
Another thing
The new event quest with the violet mizu/lucent narga
Managed to solo that in like 14 minutes
Play online with someone else (who I've been playing with for a while and they've noticeably gotten better)
Barely a time save at 12:45 ish
Interesting
The problem with multiplayer scaling is that it in a way feels very give and take
As for me, my hunt times are barely unchanged or longer for the same monster, yet the person who I'm hunting with odds are, has a infinitely faster hunt than if they soloed it
Probably, yeah
Granted, I'm no slouch, my solo hunts are on average twice as fast if I solo than doing MP, I just like playing with other people
Like let's say, hypothetically, I clone myself and have 2 me's play MH, exact same skill/set, everything, that'd double my dps output, so when compared to the HP multiplier of 1.4 (2/1.4) my hunts will roughly go 1.4 times as fast funnily enough
Compare this to a hunt where someone has half my damage output vs the hp multiplier in a duo (1.5/1.4)
It's barely faster at 1.07 times faster than if I (the player who was good) soloed it
However!
Relative to the person who had half my dps, relatively that hunt would be much faster than anything they could do solo (roughly 2x as fast)
Ergo, this point is what's leading me back to wanting to make a scum Anomaly grind build
And I think the problem isn't that people don't have the Numbers to do the damage
They don't have the skill to be aggressive and keep attacking the monster
Ergo, in theory, this set should remove that little skill issue and let the randoms I hunt with more consistently convert numbers into damage
And that's with a combination of stat trigger, buildup boost, the cats curse Gs (only para GS in rise atm), and quick sheathe to spam the fuck outta traps
I have tested this somewhat in multiplayer with a not complete CC set, by simply using elemental surge slash GS with tactically placed traps
Me and a group of the same randoms did 2 lvl 160 mizu anomaly hunts
The not scummy one took 15+ minutes
The scummy one took 10 almost exactly
And that was with me just using traps a bit, not fully leaning into the BS
The idea is to spam traps/paras to lock down the monster as long as humanly possible
What weapons would this be done with?
I'm thinking the cats curse GS, cause I still wanna have some fun with it
Also 50 status is big
I feel like a hammer, hunting horn, or some gunner weapon would be best
I was thinking hammer, purely to double dip into stun CCs
My thinking is GS has power sheathe, which is big for CC bullshit with traps
Also ideally I'd grab both marionette spiders on the map before fighting the monster, cause those things are great for CC bullshit
So frost islands is prolly the best map to do this on, quick and easy buffs/marionette spiders/and a extra thunder Beatle, purely for going on the fun slide
Flooded forest is nice cause you can grab both marionettes, buffs, and a blast toad pretty quick
Unga
Then all the other maps are kinda meh, with a special fuck you going out to the lava caverns for having to go all across the maps for buffs and the two spiders
Ye?
Hunting Horn is pretty unga in SB
It has good raw with solid status
And you get additional buffs for the team
True
Gotta see if there's a good para horn tho
The thing is, I'm best with surge slash GS so I think I wanna stick to what I know
Never too late to do more unga
...welp reading this makes it a lot harder to go back and finish sunbreak

makes one want to back to GU instead
It do be
Honestly GU deviants are fine
Sure the og ones are a bit long but it's not nearly as long as anomaly stuff
Even then Silverwind is a pretty quick hunt, so they're not all long
deviants quests do get a bit crazy toward the end
I don't think I've enven done an entire deviant questline yet ? forgot, been a while
I should play GU again
They do but it's not unreasonable
I did play most of GU solo though
You can beat a ex in like 15 minutes with a competent team
Fastest I've done them is Silverwind in like 13 minutes
out of the deviant quests I did, only one I haven't beaten on my own but still got tickets cus it's when I started multiplayer, was the G version of the double grimclaw in that one map.yes, the frozen, one zone map
then again,Rise is really good so I'll prolly jsut hop on Rise tonight
Elderfrost 4 or 5 is hell
...or 4u,I haven't done any G rank stuff in 4u yet...and stil got 3u to playthrough as well...
decisions,decisions.
Elderfrost is prime gun material tho
I go with GS in older mh
The throw you in the frozen arena with a Snowbaron, a Grimclaw, and then once those two are dead, you get to fight Elderfrost
True
except FU where I keep swaping between LS and GS
The other two are not though
I actually learned how to play Adept LBG on EX Boltreaver

one thing I hate about pc rise
compiling shaders

...oh.the compiling took so long I noticed that the kamura set on the loading screen is clipping through the ls scabbard (magnamalao side)

Just hit ai lvl 171
10 more
10 more fucking lvls
Then I can get the shit I ACTUALLY wanted
Currently at 173
Pain
Without love
This is funny tho
Anyone here who got the game through xbox game pass for PC? Im looking to where to buy sunbreak on their launcher but i cant find it
Sb isn't out there yet
Yeah
I'm wondering tho
Allegedly the game, patch wise, is comparable to current rise on PC/switch (seeing as it has auto wall run) so I wonder if someone were to say, hack it or smth if they could use the SB switch skills?
Or if it's just patched game balance wise
Finally got to AI Lvl 181 and have adrenaline rush decos
Life Great
Yknow it's a good day when you do a multi monster quest and manage to solo one of the monsters in about the same amount of time as 2 gunners took to take out the other one
It's a great day when you manage to do that twice
Yeah
God I hope risen valstrax ditches his aoe bull and is all single target aggression
From what I've seen
It looks like when he's risen he loses the after explosions on wingy stabs
In exchange
He gets a fucking shoryuken
As a followup
Yknow I just realised something
With velkhana coming to SB, I can fight it without having to deal with clutch claw
Today is a good day
So turns out the new valstrax set may be better than anticipated
That element
My God
I 100% soloed Risen valstax with 0 carts in like 19 minutes
He's fun as hell, but also terrifying
I just had a realization about gen 5 GS
The tackle into leaping wide slash is effectively the same as GUs valor dash strike
i would like to kill some monsters
I am currently killing monsters
would you like to kill monsters with me
You on switch?
Regret
wife
KILL

Got bloodlust/frostcraft/dragonheart on a build with atk up 7
That shit gets up to like 500+ attack

Cursed valstrac wing
Definitely looks like a wing
It's so fucked that he has like a normal ass wing that's just scrunched up
ok guys which mh game is best
Personally my favorite is GU
what’s that stand for
Generations Ultimate
i’ve only heard of rise
That's fair, GU is from before MH blew up with World
In my opinion, yes
Generations Ultimate is Switch exclusive
It actually runs very well
how about MH on the pc
Since it was originally a 3dS game
You got three options Iceborne, Sunbreak, and Frontier Z
ice borne sounds cooler
Okay, well then you just need to get World+ the Iceborne Dlc
it’s 25 bucks with the ‘not master’ version of ice borne
everything is on sale right now
Pretty good deal
You can emulate GU on PC I'm pretty sure and you can even play with people on switch I'm pretty sure
Only thing is event quests don't work
I beat a Lv 200~ risen Toaster anomaly investigation with him, a furious George, and bargin bin redhelm azuros, 100% solo (no pets/followers) in 30 minutes with only one cart used with heroics GS
I'm feeling greato
Mh Dos certainly existed
what is mh dos :)
The second MH game
when did it come out
2006
I think I just got the single stupidest looking dunk on a garangolm today
Like, the MFer was lagging
So I did CB air dash->phial burst, it jumped up after, but then it acted like I hit it midair with the phial burst, so it got dunked outta the sky, and as it fell, it like slid over to the side
It's so fucking stupid looking
This should not have worked, like, at all
But it did
Also here are the laggiest dunks in the buisness I was mentioning earlier
I’ve been out the game for a while
1st hunt back was against Chaotic Gore Magala
Missed ya Monster Hunter
Risen Kush is pretty neat
Apparently his armor is latest GL meta
Also, Hail Cutter buff has changed my hunting life
I know I know, I’m way late to the party
I gotta learn GL
2 ranks away from unlocking Risen Kushala and my new meta
Velkhana parts are weirdly hard to break
Especially its Lil needle tail
So I noticed
Not only is it extremely hard to hit in the first place
But like you said, the threshold is oddly high to get the cut
On another note, Risen Kushala is a badass fight
Risen kush overall is prolly the best designed risen elder
Risen Valstrac Imo is hella fun if you explicitly solo him, but in a team he sucks
Anomaly grind, we meet again…
Anomaly grind is the real monster in SB fr fr
Is there a reason why Sunbreak randoms are so bad?
They're randoms
The randoms in Worldborne were never this consistently bad, at least in my EXP
In fact, Worldborne randoms were pretty damn reliable
In this game it’s the opposite
I actually be having the exact opposite experience
It's all luck of the draw really
Save the date: April 19th
TU5 is just around the corner
I’m gonna have to grind hard to hit my goal by then: Anomaly Level 140
Why? To unlock universal Level 8 shelling
Current level? 90
I’m also still armor locked to some critical skills: namely Intrepid Heart
Whaddya need for level 8 shelling in terms of afflicted mats
I might be able to help ya cheat it out, I know I can help ya cheat out intrepid heart decos
Afflicted chaotic gore research quest go brrrrr
I have no idea. I’ll look it up.
I can’t find it, but I’m guessing it is whatever tier shell mat unlocks at 140
Never mind
I need Afflicted Dire Fang+
And Afflicted Dire Dragon Blood
I don't think I can help ya cheat that out cause that's exclusively gotten from anomaly investigations
But dire dark blood is hella easy to cheat out from the chaotic gore research quest
Dire fang+ is from furious rajang/scorned magnamalo
Wonderful…haha
Dunno from what lv range tho
And doing the quest for Dire darkblood for intrepid heart prolly will drop a chaotic gore investigation for Dire dragon blood at a lower lvl
Allegedly there's a chance the new cap is gonna go to 300
That’s what I hear
If it does imma lose my shit
They do not have to up the max that high
But ultimately I think the Guiding Lands were a better endgame system overall
Once they worked out the initial issues
The Guiding Lands was sick
If they set the bar that high there better be some gourmet shit at the end there
It’s too arbitrary. That’s my big issue.
I'm annoyed cause of how limiting the anomaly lv system is
They'll let you fight any endgame threat from HR10 onwards, assuming someone else posts
But God forbid you do that for anomaly shit
The limitations every 20 levels is so infuriating
If they got rid of that, or made grinding it faster I would be fine
Like doing a quest at your level should give a whole level
And with modifiers give like up to 4 given max difficulty curve
It's like the problem I had with worlds endgame
Like how is ruiner nergi hard Mr 100 locked, while fatty/alatreon arent?
Great question
The anomaly stuff falls under that general annoyance type
It's also odd, cause A7/A8 research quests (quests explicitly balanced like lvl 181/211 respectively) along side the rest of the endgame quests are just mr 10 locked
Those include hazard risens
If I'm feeling devious I could throw unsuspecting newbs into a hazard risen elder the second they hit Mr 10
But if they wanna do a lvl 21 great izuchi for afflicted mats to get better gear, all the sudden they're too low lvl
Like
Bruh
Question: can you still save scum the crafting system or no?
Like the tailismans?
I don't think so
Nah, I’m talking about the Qurious crafting on armor
Nah it saves when you do it I think
Ah, damn. I don’t wanna waste mats rolling on armor I’m probably gonna swap out soon.
Almost got Risen Toaster unlocked
Nice
I discovered something absolutely stupid about GS
Yknow how placing a bomb->parry->TCS is the "meta"?
Turns out if you throw the bomb up at 60 ish degrees you can run up to where the bomb lands, parry it, then TCS for what is effectively a running TCS
It's hard as hell to do
Buy I gotta get good at it
It's the perfect blend of efficiency and stupidity
Apparently TU5 is coming with weapon valance changes
I hope surge slash GS gets buffed at least a bit
Risen Teostra is a MF’er
Indeed he is
You need any help on Risen toaster still?
Actually yes
Still gonna be farming him for a bit
I was actually experimenting with and trying to research the Qurious system
Turns out I misunderstood how to read Augments in terms of loss VS gain
…okay yeah, pretty ridiculous on the RNG
I was able to get 1 pt. of Guard on my legs, which freed up my Level 2 slot for Embolden, and now I gain an additional Level 4 slot to play with in addition to getting max Kushala Blessing back on the build
And this is all so that I can add Powder Mantle Level 2 to my set with minimal to no compromise
All good. I had to eat and take care of some IRL responsibilities.
GTFO!!!
I just rolled a clean, no penalty +1 Powder Mantle on the Kaiser Chest
We in the Level 3 club now baby!
Awesome
Yeah
That's prolly all gonna level out somewhat with the new tailisman meldings/decos they're gonna add in tu 5, cause presumably you'll be able to get most skills from anything ya want
That way qurio crafting is there more to patch builds up I guess
Personally I hope we get a bladescale 4 deco, needing to burn 3 2 slots for that sucks atm
Tho I'll prolly have room cause apparently one of the new decos on one of the Twitter update pictures was called inspiration, which was a skill in frontier that gave a team wide evade buff/stun resist
So if that gives evade window and stun resist that'll do wonders for my builds, and it's only a lvl 1 deco, meaning it's basically just a straight upgrade to stun resist
Bladescale Hone was my MVP skill in Sunbreak
And yeah, it needs some economy like how Embolden means we don’t have to stack Guard so much
But yeah, it seems at the end of every Monster Hunter game you get a set of systems and economy that amounts to “Oops! All skills!”
Man I remeber when athal ka's set was insane in GU for letting you snipe 3~5 specific skills you wanted, cause the two inherent skills it had on the armor was one that doubled the point value from talismans, and the other added +2 to any skill you gemmed on there
And the armor had like 3 slots per piece with the exception of two pieces that had 2
Granted this was back when you needed 10 points to trigger a skill, so you needed alotta points to get anything
Iirc the best thing for that set was to get a tailisman with +4 to two skills, and a three slot, cause the tailisman double thing doubles any skill on there, even ones gemmed into the tailisman, and then adds two, so you'd basically get three skills off the tailisman itself, from there you just kinda try and gem more stuff on there from all the slots you have
You could do some fun stuff with that
I remeber making a cursed as hell crit build using chaotic gore weapons, I gemmed in WeX, Crit boost, and bitter affinity (which acts like the brutal rampage gem in rise, which gives a 1/4th chance to turn a negative crit into a 2 times damaging hit) so effectively I'm either always hitting a buffed crit, or a negative crit that has the chance to become a even bigger crit
Honestly I hope in tu5 they give us armor skill versions of the rampage skills
I want old chain crit/bitter affinity back as like actual armor skills
More or less what I’m doing now actually
1 pt. of Bloodlust is all I need, and when triggered with the Chaotic Gore GL it just because a fat Crit Stick.
And speaking of old school MH I feel ya with bringing the old into the new
With Embolden I feel like I’m re-living the MH4U days of 0 knock back on Guard
I still think it's hilarious how you need max Guard/artillery/slugger in rise to come even close to old Base 4U Charge blade
Hell, max guard doesn't even let you SAED some shit, like Gores explosive chain blasts, you need embolden/ready stance to Saed that
Which is annoying cause thats one of his safest moves to punish if you do have that much guard
That's like a trend, all the moves that have ginormous openings also have all the knockback so you can't guardpoint->SAED/UAED
Meanwhile 4U is like "lmao, blocked a toaster nuke? Go nuts bud"
For real
My old knowledge and muscle memory completely screwed me initially in Sunbreak for that very reason haha
Was too used to the old openings.
And on that same note
Risen Teostra is a lot more manageable when he can’t abuse that knock back stun
And as much as I love the mobility in Rise with stuff like Reverse Blast Dash
I do miss combat being a bit more methodical
The arcade speed of these endgame monsters is a bit much
Risen toaster feels the least changed out of all the risens
He feels like a toaster who just does plus one on all his attacks, if that makes sense
I feel that
He just hits a lot harder and maybe has a combo extension
But he isn’t like Kushala who got a real overhaul
As for the general game speed I like it moreso now in SB than in Base for one reason
Surge slash GS feels like the perfect evolution to normal GS for a faster game like rise
It's slow, but fast enough to catch monsters out and hit them
Risen Kushala is way more fun than the OG
Honestly
Risen chammy is the hardest one IMO
He gets so much new shit
On top of his advanced poison and buff stealing
Risen kush is prolly my favorite in general, but Risen valstrax is way more fun to explicitly solo
In a team Risen val fucken sucks
That’s what I hear
Also, the fact he can attack while invisible
I hear Risen Valstrax in MP is just a clusterfuck
That throws you
He will beeline one person and if he has to chase someone down, he will chase that mfer down to hell and back
My favorite quote about Risen Valstrax:
“When he feels like it, he is gonna use your face as a landing pad.”
Risen valstrax is fun tho cause he feels more in line with old valstrax
He has less delayed explosive bullshit and more "I'm gonna make you a stain on the ground"
Like he is a aggressive MFer
Valstrax is the like the MH equivalent of roid rage
Cause most late to endgame monsters tend to always be described as “Highly aggressive, so keep up the pressure!”
But Valstrax’s form of aggression has a very special quality of persistence to it
I mean
He's a fucking Rocket dragon
So it makes sense
That’s one thing you gotta say about Valstrax: comes as advertised
Honestly imo him and nergi are hella similar in terms of having a general beatdown strategy to them
They aren't like other elder dragons who lol about with elemental shenanigans, they're here to crack some heads
Very true. I think when you line them all up, the Elder Dragons of Monster Hunter have an impressive slate of designs.
But out of them all Nergi really sticks out as unique (pun intended)
And I also love Namielle
Nergi is prolly the best thing to come out of world ngl
He is one hell of a flagship
Instantly recognizable & highly memorable
My favorite Monster from World didn’t make it into Rise/Sunbreak and I’m surprisingly okay with that: Legiana
Got no issues trading it for Goss Harag.
Or as I call him, “Boss” Harag.
Legiana looks neat but I'm kinda eh on it all things considered
The only world monster I'm mad that didn't get in was odogaron
Like
He was based on a yokai I'm pretty sure, why wasn't he in the game with all the new yokai baser monsters?!?
That and I'd like to see nergi again, but velk is also cool
My GS bias is showing, frost craft go brr
You make a great point actually
Cause correct me if I’m wrong, but Rise didn’t have a bleed monster did it?
And then Seregios fills the slot in Sunbreak.
Plus they had already put Tobi Kadachi in the game, who uses the same skeleton
And Shogun got bleed
Hahaha
I love Shogun Cenataur
And GL
Nah screw it, I can kick his ass with everything
And yet he still can mess a hunting party up
Prolly
…damnit
The MH grind and addiction is real
Just frustrating that I need another 100 levels for Intrepid Heart
I didn’t think I’d have to grind that much
Maybe TU5 will boost Anomaly gains a bit
Ya want intrepid heart decos, cause I can help ya get those
Cause the Chaotic gore research quest drops the stuff to make em, while only being MR 10 locked
One of these days I gotta help ya get those
I’ll catch you eventually
But yeah, for better and worse, I don’t play that clean and so I need my brain-dead super armor that also deals 300 DMG when I’m close to the monster
I love to ask Monsters: “How does it feel to get hit just because I exist?”
Lol
…wait a minute!
I forgot that Investigations and Quests are different
You think one of those Quests can also get me the mats for Level 8 shelling?
All the lvl 8 research quests are hazard risens with the exception of the chaotic gore
So unless you need risen dragon bone + for that, nah
I think it’s Distilled Dragon Blood+ that’s needed
But either way, this Hunter would be most grateful for early access to Intrepid Heart decos
Dragon blood is from a hig lvl daily, other early game blood monsters
Dire dragon blood is from espicynas/chaotic gore/seething bagel
Word of warning, the chaotic gore thing is hard as nails
Anything notable other than the usual “It’s endgame so F your max DEF stats.” ?
Uh not particularly I guess
With maxed armor/green birbs he can rip off like half my HP in one go
Good news, it's in the jungle, so green birbs are easy to max out there
He's not like the "hazard" risen elders in that quest tierlist
Ah, thanks, I’ll keep my confidence measured then
The risen elders get new shit in that tier tho
Cause I’m pretty comfy fighting all the Magala’s
And it's fucking terrifying
And as a side bonus to my Qurious crafting I got Spiribird’s Call on my armor as a freebie so that makes the health issue easier
Oh Christ…
All their elemental attacks have super amped damage, and they get new moves/add ons to old ones
They get even worse?!
So ironically, risen chammy, is the hardest one arguably, cause his stinky breath damn near kills you before the ultra poison
Hope ya grinder risen toasty enough for flamescale decos
Cause you're gonna need that venom negate
First thing I crafted before the armor
Good call
And my build has plenty of single slots for build flexibility
He’s been a bitch but I eventually got my Risen Teo mats
That shot makes me miss that one GU HH that negated all debunks for a set duration. Which just entirely negated the threat of stuff like chammy/dreadqueen
Thank God I figured out Qurious Crafting though and got lucky
Made that fight infinitely easier
Everything just feels better with an HH in your party
Risen toaster is the probably the least interesting risen in terms of what they do
Like he gets one or two new moves and other than that it's just him hitting way harder/doing one more of everything
Two charges instead of one, two dives instead of one, etc
After the overhaul that was Risen Kushala he was a disappointing follow-up for that very reason
Ironically the risens feel like they got less revamp heavy as they went
Risen chammy feels entirely different
Cause it's actually a fucken threat now, instead of le derp de derp
Then there's risen valstrax, who feels like a return to form for the big guy
Cause base CG valstrax feels like they just patched normal valstrax over from GU and just added aoe on his attacks to let him keep up with the rise mobility better, which feels counter intuitive given the design (instead of running you down to the ends of the earth like a ballistic missle, he limits your movement via dragon puff clouds?!?)
Whereas risen gets back that unbridled aggression
Like, small detail I noticed, in GU he'd do a double rocket tackle
That move didn't come back until his risen fight
He still has AOE but it feels alot less like a Setplay thing and more a disjoint thing
Which is alot easier and less annoying to deal with
Sounds about right
Cause my experience fighting Valstrax was “Where TF do I go?” because of what you outlined regarding the AOE
Ngl, the aoe delayed explosives bull kinda taints his fight somewhat
Thank God risen dials that shit back for more raw aggression
I look forward to it
Well damn…
Shame on me for neglecting Buddies all this time
I haven't used buddies for a hot minute
I’m shocked. Shocked, I tell you!
Apparently tail cuts do still happen in endgame. Haven’t seen one in forever.
Translation:
No Gunlance at launch
Mh go lol
TU5 Showcase Day
Make yo predictions now
I already showed my Bingo card
Here's hoping for surge slash buffs
I got a feeling everyone is gonna be happy
Also, I’ve almost made it to Anomaly Level 120
AMATSU LOOKS FUCKEN SICK
It looks absolutely fucking unhinged
He's a actual fucking threat now lets gooo
Also wonder what the special investigations reward is gonna be?
Seems like everything is getting a hazard version
And there's risen shaggy being fought in the forlorn arena
As God intended
Fighting him in a special arena just feels right
Also tu6 being a special ultra malzeno sounds fun
ALSO IN THE PATCH NOTES SURGE SLASH GOT A DAMAGE BUFF
And he'll, gunlance even got some buffs
I’m still watching but just came in to say “Fack!” cause Risen Shagaru locked at MR 180
So I got 27 MR levels to go
But yeah, Amatsu is a damn spectacle
In the first 5 sec. of gameplay I said to myself “Oh Jesus Christ…”
It’s gonna have some BS
Risens are mr 10 locked, but only unlock for you at 180
I'm bringing you along so we can get that MFer some 4U payback a good few years in the making
It only feels right that Shagaru gets the glorious Risen treatment
NGL
Because I dedicated myself to World / Iceborne, I skipped out on Rise and was cool with that
But when Sunbreak announced the return of Gore Magala, he was the game seller for me
Well…him and Seregios
You with a buffed GL and me with Buffed Surge slash GS there ain't no way we can lose
Also, Shagaru Magala taught me the concept of Elementless weapons
When I learned that it was a big WTF moment
I still gotta look at the notes
Apparently GL got buffed
Surge slash gets better Raw and Element motion values on all its attacks now
So it's damage is gonna be exponentially better
And rage slash makes you take less damage
I thought there was gonna be more overall, but what we are getting seems small yet significant
The TL;DR on Gunlance is we know that Wide sucks for various reasons
So interesting that A. It’s the only shelling type getting a flat buff
And B. The Wyrmstake Cannon buff will probably also increase Erupting Canon’s KO power, which is exclusive to Wide
So I think we about to be knockin’ out Monsters like Hammer Bros. between EC + the Hellfire Cloak freebie
Wide shot getting more buffed makes sense NGL, considering it's been consistently kinda bad
Like it's the only real gun lance that really benefits from charge over blast dash
I mean charged shelling really has to compete with the ability to fly on a weapon that's consistently been knocked for it's shit mobility, and said flight let's you go into a slam/full burst, which 2 out of three GL types love to do
Correct
Meaning you would have to Focus on the S of DPS to help it compete if you’re not gonna flat boost the numbers
But they don’t do that
And the speedier animation into the Wyrmstake / Erupting Canon doesn’t match those other combos either
Imagine if charge shots got faster if done in succession
Charged shelling worked in Iceborne
Like 1st is slow, then it gets faster, and it just speeds up as you fired off charge shots
That would be a cool stack
And to make it more balanced for Wide having only 2 shots, their charge shots fires off both shells for waaaaay more damage
Really lean into the sawed off shottie angle wide GL has
Not as much as a full burst on normal or long
But in exchange it's just faster, and doesn't need anything before hand like a slam or blast dash
Indeed
Well hey, if you’re gonna be around later, I think you can give me a last minute power boost before the Update drops
Cause if I get to 120, then you can give me access to Level 140 investigations right?
I'm gonna try to be on later today, dunno when that'll be tho
If I'm lucky I can be on at like 4 est
Honestly the best bet would be to do Chaotic gore's afflicted research quest for that intrepid heart deco
There is that, but I also need the mats for Level 8 shelling
What parts do you need for that?
Afflicted Dire Fang+
Afflicted Dire Dragon Blood
Dire dragon blood should be available at your current level if you go bully a afflicted Flaming espinas/seething bagel
As for Dire fang + we might be able to cheese that out with more research quests
Yeah we can prolly for the Dire fang plus
I just realised buff body is coming back
Can't wait to walk around looking like a dbz character
Hmm
Might save more Anomaly grind till the update
I just read that they will increase the EXP again from Level 1 - 220
And those super endgame monsters are “Just cause ya can. Here’s a Badge.”
In a way, I appreciate that considering the constant goalpost moving with Anomalies
Plus we got Amatsu to deal with
And risen shaggy
I got the risen bastard
He's a tricky sonnuva bitch
I’ll be able to get into the game in about an hour or so
Oh shit…
Gunlance is lookin’ RAW
Our damage buffs are looking more significant than anticipated
Demonstration, this is real.
Best thing is that you can have multiple wirebugs recharging at once.
Heck, with wind mantle you can spam ground splitter now.
And the armor comes with strife , weakness exploit and attack boost.
Uh
Check the risen shaggy skill when we kick his ass
I have a feeling you might like it
It’s gonna play into my favorite playstyle: BB Spam
Also, preemptive thank you for the early access
