Oh how optimal are these, 6 drive gauges and lvl 3, for around 50ish percent damage juri has something very very similar that was 2 fuha store 4 drive gauges and a lvl 3 for 52.70 percent however if you Simply go for normal > lvl 3 you get 50.20. Save all your resources. I’m sure Ken could’ve done that over head into level 3 if not at minimum overhead jab level 3 and ovoid scaling.

However that being said very cool combo lol

Reposting what I shared about sf6 with the SNK peeps

After watching the top 8 tns tourney, I see the main tool that pros use is drive rush combos. DI is used more sparingly but I still maintain at low and casual level, DI will be abused and will be too much of a mental stack for newer players to handle. As many said, it is reactable and there’s a lot of counters for it, but you have to remember, defending against di is not an isolated thing. You are watching for many things so the mental stack adds up. I am hoping Capcom makes it more expensive to use. Or lessen its strengths in corners

At the pro level, however, I still see that throws are still frequently used and abused. I think it really is too strong. Drive rush into throw is not easy to defend against and is basically an RPS guess as they may just attack with lights. This is still one aspect I dislike. It basically makes every character a grappler. We’ll see how an actual grappler would do

On the positive side, after reflecting over it, I really liked how they designed jaime’s gameplay loop. I’m thinking of maining him but I’ll look into manon blanka and Lily still

Also, cringe avatars aside, I think the battle hub is very nicely designed and will retain casual player longetivity if they play it right

Visually, the graphics are beautiful as is expected from the RE engine and is a huge upgrade vs sf5. Music and sound are really hype as well

I think all the characters are well designed gameplay wise and have something interesting about them

Luke is still very cringey and is the least interesting gameplay wise

But I enjoyed Kimberly a lot as well. She will be a good side character

Ryu/Ken I’ll play occasionally but they are the easy to pick up but vanilla shotos

Throws are 5f. In SF in general you need your light, medium, and heavies down your jabs and some mediums will beat out throws however they are still very slippery and I agree they are very strong.

Also you can drive rush throws so be wary of that. If you connect with a low let’s say and they drive rush throw their throw will whiff. On block however they can just drive rush you throw

Agree in that you have options against them but it’s not easy. I’m not saying they are broken. However they are an incredibly strong option. Just like DI, you can counter them, but you have to remember the mental stack you are up against in being able to defend them. 5F is not reactable too unlike DI. It has to be a hard read where you guess they are going to throw you. Just mashing out lights in hopes to a stop a throw is not viable since normals are minus and will get you punished, so they can drive rush then neutral block and if the opponent mashes light, blocking it will allow you to do a full punish combo. The best counter against a throw is actually doing a throw tech since if they don’t throw, you will throw them but if they went for throw then that doesn’t get you any reward and is still a hard read. My point is the fact that you see pros doing 3 throws in a row in a match just shows how strong that option is and how even pros have trouble countering it. And throws are prevalent in pro matches unlike DI. And I don’t like that it becomes a focus in matches where every character becomes a grappler. I think command throws are hype for grapplers but they have deficiencies in other areas that make up for it.

Agreed yeah I get what you’re saying and throws are really strong. However for beginners the advice has always been eat the throw. Especially when playing stronger players. Note this is advance for when you’re a beginner learning not a general rule of sf. When you’re new to the game and you try teching you will eat a full punish especially if you’re going up against someone better. Not all combo routes are gonna get patched out everything they’re grinding learning now won’t be erased or irrelevant. yes you can lab out combos etc, but under very limited circumstances unless you set up VS against max level cpu or whatever

i think tournaments being done in the beta were a mistake

but i do not think you gain as much of an advantage as wouldve been shown in the beta by the time the game releases, like people with catch up quickly on release
