No, I'll tell you what the issue is.
I had so much advice this past weekend about how to play neutral.
I am playing characters specifically who are geared to force me to learn neutral
I have everything working in my favor to help me learn neutral.
I have practiced strings in training.
I have have written out every example of strings, but blockstrings or otherwise.
Match comes around: I try to stop being so damn passive like everyone's saying. I get punished on my rushdown attempts either by pokes or full combos. Re-hops aren't falling. The execution isn't there.

Making them block with an onslaught of hops and plus jabs, throwing some lows in there, stuff like that. Depends on who your character is but like a lot of characters can run down on someone and do like 2a and maybe attempt for hop. Things of this nature. Obviously jump ins and jCD are super plus to keep it going for you. Could check out some tryhard pro player matches and see what's up with them if you want. Or you could keep playing and figure something out. I usually just go off of what their moves are and which ones are relatively safe enough to finesse with, hit the opponent and see what happens

I mean, I try to get the j.CD working, but I'm getting anti-aired. I want to rush in for pressure, but I end up getting full comboed. I ain't earned that kinda respect to set that tempo in matches and I can't figure out if it's me playing too slow or what's too reckless vs. being aggressive or what's a smart approach rather than a foolish one. I don't understand anything about how to play this game anymore, it feels like

ah Iori. Yeah it can be a lot easier for this guy. He's so strong. Can just run up 2B 2A and bank on confirm, can stagger the 2B to catch them if they're sleeping. His cl.B is low too, can be a lil tricky for opponents. Hit the standing low, go into his 6A command normal, combo. Just some quick examples. His 2C is ridiculous to stop jumps. His j.B is the air to air that hits from across the screen lol. Ground fireball to bait approaches. He's super raw dude just gotta embody that dark flame. At the end of it all though, it's not always your turn, but its also not always your opponents' so counterpoking is just as important sometimes. Don't die from trying to mash all the time though, but yeah you kinda gotta press something sometimes or atleast move or reposition yourself so you aren't just a sitting duck. Everything comes full circle
