you can go into a "flowchart" to evaluate your opponent's knowledge of a specific matchup, Kyo is a very popular and top tier character, so a lot of people will know him : you don't create a surprise? You have to play him solid then

because if you actually do stuff like cornering someone, doing a cr.A into 3D to then go into rekkas and try to get that overhead elbow that's punishable going, a good player that knows Kyo (and a good player does know Kyo) will 100% always punish you for it and kill your Kyo for that I guess? so you just do cr.A, 3D and one rekka, and he stays in the corner and you're safe and then maybe you can go for another low, a throw, or a hop CD?

Sometimes you will see right away that you did shit, but at some other times... you will not find a reason for what you did, yet it made you lose something: you got punished, or you lost your turn entirely and got pressed, and then it made you spend precious resources... not finding a reason for what you did, a legit good reason, means that it was at least unoptimal, or just plain bad decision. You also have to measure the risk/reward of everything you do. What will you get if that overhead elbow hits? What will he get if he blocks it? If you hit it you get what... 100 damage? If he blocks it, he can get 500+. sometimes unoptimal stuff can be good, because you create a surprise, that's how underdogs can do an upset. but... at our stage in this game? Most likely a bad decision. If you are losing to anyone but killers here, you made bad decisions in your gameplay, period. Especially if you lose to me... lol
