Hey!:)
What do you mean by shutting down your pc? It literally shuts it down?
And, when did this start?
Hello! yes literally it shuts down my entire pc, and it's been happening since i got the beta, i still couldn't play the game because of this 🙁
on july 27th
Hmmm, will check this out, does something happens before it shuts down?
dont worry, this things happen! and for what i have seen on yt the game is really good!
Thanks:)
i can record a video of it and show you, maybe that would help you see something ii am not seeing 😄
That’d be awesome, thanks:)
Ok! thank you so much!
have you looked in the windows event viewer?
to me that shows the pc is still powered up(rgb case still on) but graphics crapped out
hey! it could be high cpu loads when starting the game, we improving that in next patch so hopefully it gets fixed
Hello, I have the same problem! I just bought the early access Yesterday...
I have the same config as @silent compass
GPU driver updated, Windows updated. Every other app and games are running smootly...
Yeah I tried the game yesterday and it still crashes☹️
I'd like to see the specs on your Ram Sticks please. You may have an issue with Ram Speed conflicting with what windows is asking for. You can try using CPU-Z and posting your Mem specs.
Possible test: If you are running 4 - 8gb sticks, remove the 2 that are offset from the other 2, being sure to stagger your memory slots based on your Motherboards specs.
You can check the specifics of your Ram sticks before digging in, by using this tool here. It will tell you what each stick is.
Do you play any other games on this PC?
Have you monitored your CPU (Task Manager) on a second monitor before, during, and after launching Project Castaway?
Does Event Viewer show anything stark for Error ID 41 or 6008?
Traditionally, the Operating System will receive a response from your Motherboard that is saying, "I am in trouble," and the OS will shutdown. This could be due to Heat or an unknown failure somewhere and is hard to track down. Troubleshooting things like CPU Heat Sensors, Memory configs, and Overclocking Errors are where we always start.
Have you made any OC changes to the BIOS? Tried resetting the BIOS to factory defaults yet?
Hi
Yes, I'm aware about PC health. I'm working with computer since 20 years...
I came here to the forum because my configuration is probably ok, but the game is early access. It is possible the optimization for AMD CPU-s are not fully coded yet
True there... EA games are touch and go for sure. Sucks!
I'm playing with multiple games and no problems there...
umm, turn the graphics settings down a notch, turn off chromatic aberations. Grasping at straws here...
Yes these are good hints but I don't want to crash my machine multiple times and reconfigure many things for this game what is not ready yet
Agreed!
Sons of Forest, Stranded deep and Subnautica are working fine 🙂
That's good info for @upper mural
I accept this game is in developing status, I liked the demo and I like this survive games, I hope they will be able to patch this bug out until the Christmas break 🙂
Anyway thanks for the hints and help!
It is rare nowadays...
@upper mural If you need any specific logs tell me and I will provide....
Hi, Any news regarding our problem?
New Update has been released. The game still shutdown my PC instant, when I start campaign. See you in next month!
Hello, will you played with CPU loading and graphic settings? Just one of ideas, try this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/changing-maximum-processor-state-from-100-to-99/d899946f-a53c-48be-8016-eb1985963146
This games seems much more requestable of sources. Shutting of PC talks about not the main program but more likely (in my humble opinion) hardware problem, so overloading and PC shuts for this. Try to play with different settings. Maybe start on the main screen all in low, all additional graphic options to switch off. Just the ideas to try
If anyone having this problem hasn't tried these steps, please follow:
- Uninstall the game.
- Clear any remaining local files under
%localappdata%low/mardonpol/project castaway/(Access via Windows + R) - Install the game
- Verify the integrity of the game files https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB
Another note - some hardware has issues when overclocked.
Hello, alright! I will try and give you a feedback when it's done. (Nothing is overclocked on my pc)
Dear @sturdy lantern Sorry, I'm not accepting this concept. I don't want to play on low settings. I don't have hardware problems. Every other apps and games are running smoothly. This one is simply not ready yet regarding the optimalization part. I accept this and will work together with the developers to solve the issue...
Hello Tompi! Nobody asks you to play. I just suggest to make a test because you have a game and want to load it. After finding of issue it will be much more easier to understand what to do next. And yes, event log what was suggested in the past could be also helpful to get more information
Sure, the issue is probably the CPU overloaded when the game starts to load. This is a programming issue as far as I assume or some file are corrupted. We will see...
Your specs are well above the recommended hardware. Issue is software related, sometimes Steam can struggle reading game files. Just to be clear, you never managed to boot the game once?
Only the Demo worked for me, the full game never loaded unfortunately since I bought it. I just rebooted again. I followed the steps you provided but the issue is still with us.
IF you have any debug mode to turn on to collect some crash dump or other logs I'm gladly try it....
I can't recall any explicit log files on our end, but you can try searching under
Windows + R
%localappdata%low/mardonpol/project castaway/
Only a LocalData.json file is there currently, it only contains some of the base settings of the game, no hidden file either

Did you manage to follow the steps previously mentioned?
Yapp, I mentioned it on my 14:00 answer. (Crashed again 😦 )
