The fragments in your bag don't swap with the hero if that's what you mean. So yes if you have 80 fragments for the hero you're getting rid of you should use the extra 5 generic fragments and then swap

i have mcfadden (level 33) and kris (level 16) fighting against zombies, one leads one assists. i thought, due to game mechanics, you would let mcfadden lead as he generates a lot of rage for both and speeds up skill shots. but in testing, it turns out kris lead deals more damage. seemingly because kris deals 120 kills when supported by mcfadden, vs mcfadden dealing 100 kills when he leads. i understand that mcfadden does atk+15% but than doesn't raise kris' 95 solo to 120. on the other hand, if fighting solo, mcfadden fights better. can anyone please shed a light on this?

rage only has real value when you trigger skills, that usually happends when you're in combat for more than 6 seconds or so

your comparing the first second of combat and you cant judge rage just from that one second as it doesnt do anything in just one second

as for why Kris did more compared to liam theres only 3 reasons that i can think of
eather Kris was in territory or had armaments while Liam doesnt
or some weird instance of basic attack and counter attack, perhaps Kris did both of them while Liam did only basic attack in that 1st second of combat
or some unknown troop type advantage that zombies could have, perhaps the one with Liam was against infantry and the one with Kris was against Rider

i tested this on dozen battles to see if it a one time off weirdness, its not random. all battles last about 20 rounds, so i don't judge rage after 1 second, rage works as intended. no territory or armaments.

We remove armaments, drop beast chips, and lower garage. But it's for recruiting purposes. We know which bracket we'll end up in, so we use it to maximize how many players we can bring into that bracket.
