Some chips, a few fragments, and 50% squad expansions as you "level up" as teacher. I'd like the squad expansions because the 50% ones are generally higher rewards in stuff I don't want to invest a lot in, like might race or need for speed, or whichever it actually is.

I guess if they spend gold you get some too, but if any of my students ever actually talk to me and ask, I will advise against spending, especially early game.

this one is a tough one to answer. there is more randomness in the vault event compared to the black market event where in the vault, you're subject to the randomness of the keys for each floor vs buying coins that are redeemed at a fixed exchange rate. the short of it is, for both events, you get the most value if you spend less, bc of how many free keys/coins you get for the event. the more you spend, the less efficient the cost/reward becomes. the difficulty is exacerbated further when you factor in the math behind the vault key redemptions - you tend to revert to the mean on longer pull cycles (shorter pull cycles have more variability), but since the best value in this event is closer to the redemption of free keys, you may never actually experience the mean numbers due to the volatility of the fewer pulls.

in an ideal world, you would have redeemed that 2x coupon on julia's magic event - it offers the highest value for high carbon steel for any high carbon steel event AND bc workshop upgrades yield one of the biggest universal boosts to your account (when looking across new, mid, old accounts).

yea, sorry bud. it passed, and when i saw the 2x coupon, i was thinking if i should gamble by waiting an extra day to see if there's a better use of the 2x on some other event that would make even better use than julia's event. but i ended up using it for julia bc there's really no downside to investing in your workshop.

further to my point, i actually recorded how many keys it takes to pass each floor in the vault event. what i found is that some some floors (making up some numbers, just trying to illustrate the point) took 25 keys, whereas, some floors took only 15 keys. the average was something like 18 keys per floor. but since it's an average, you may have some runs where you only use 15 keys, or have some unlucky runs in the beginning where it is unusually high. if you spend a lot, it just reverts to about 18 keys per floor in the long runs

if you have a really good run in the early floors by using fewer keys, i'd probably stop as soon as i get whatever rewards i need from the event, and just count that as a win

top commander is only kind of challenging if you're trying to get a lot of fragments. If you're only going for 10 to unlock, or 20 or 30, it's not too terrible.
