2 notable ones is that Barrage from workshop
If your a whale with t1 and you face weaker enemies with poor workshop it doesn't matter that you have t1 you will still do pretty hefty damage because of Barrage..
The second one are Beasts, if your Beasts are upgraded decently they will do good damage and work independently than troops..

Range is "better" right now because Ethan is a good hero, and AoE is part of that.

Multiple players are in a garrison, but the leader is the one whose hero sets the stats for everything.

In the field your heroes and their armaments matter though

Mostly, yes. You may find yourself able to do garrison in things like Pompeii and Off-Limits War, but most of your fighting will likely be as a member of rallies and garrison and in the field.

Btw, how is the ranking group determined for event like All Star? Areas?

All star grouping is entirely random. Arena is based on beating a level of arena. Most other events are based on "rating" which is a factor of might + maybe previous combat record but they've never been entirely clear about how it's calculated.

The exception to all star is the first one or two times for people in new regions, it is only within that region.

Yes. As far as I know, anyway.

It's possible it is more than 2 within the region, and it's also possible there's some secret matching system behind the scenes and it isn't even random but it does feel random and doesn't say otherwise.

One nice thing is most of the good garrison heroes now are also good on field long term, so you can choose an S hero like ethan, boyd or chasey and develop them over time while focusing mainly on a field hero to lead them.
Most of those S heroes need to be transcended 1 time to be viable on field.
