As others alluded to, it's basically just might plus a bunch extra weighting on troop counts.
Weak players with a lot of troops are rated waaaay higher.
I remember seeing multiple t5 players rated higher than my t6 because they were players that never lost troops in war.
Might is even worse imo, and poisons both rating and might no matter how you look at it.
Nothing is weighted remotely properly- stuff that does nothing for combat power is worth tons of might (equipment, beasts, troop count generally), then stuff that provides 90% of your combat power is counted as nothing for might (workshop, armaments).

Then matching itself doesn't even properly use its own ratings- they basically roll a dice half the time to put teams together.

I do think a voting system for AR specifically could work? You'd need at least 50% of the alliances to vote the same for it to take effect. So if for example 1 or 2 alliances are farming and not contributing you'd need 50% of the alliances or more specifically the R5/R4s to vote that they are "sabotaging" game play by not participating. Which causes them to be black listed. Or the very least get put into a special AR full of farmers with zero rewards and aren't allowed to leave the map.

Well it depends and I think there are 2 possible options.

1. The positive effect of having a "spy" for yourself.

If you have a spy on the enemy side, you might know at which time they will try to attack or push towers and your people can prepare or set alarms. Otherwise it also allows you to know if a supposed ally will try to backstab you. Another thing is knowing the enemies down time, like when their whales say that they need to be off for a while, that way you can time your attacks.

2. The negative effect of "spies" for your enemy.

The spy could spread mistrust on your enemies side, make problems out of nothing by telling lies. They can pitch people against each other with rumors, another thing is they can make their allies mistrust each other.

You have a "spy" who has been in a green alliance for a while and maybe even gets R4 from time to time.

At the same time your spy is pitching jade and red against each other by telling green "Hey look we get attacked and red suddenly is offline and cant help, i told you they backstab us".

Before metro opens and everyone is suspicious of each other. The right lies and rumours spread in specific moments can totally flip over who allies and supports each other to get metro. ( Happend to us in Region 8, where our rival alliance said we will burn everyone after taking metro and suddenly 4h before metro opens we got attacked by 6 alliances and only 2 helped us. We won and afterwards found out about the lies etc.

Thats why only R5 and R4 know who and how many are online and you shouldnt just hand that role to anyone. At the same time dont publicly within your alliance announce at which specific time you will attack the enemy days ahead. 🤣

Hey, Team. Looking for advice on part upgrades... Primarily an infantry player (stella/eddie/adut/riven/myo) focusing on infantry armaments, secondary ranged (julia/louis/sophie). Zero riders... Is it best to upgrade skill damage next? The cost is so much higher for backpack parts, but truly knowing where most of the damage comes from (troops or heroes) is confusing to me. Appreciate any recommendations you guys have ❤️

IMO unless youre a whale planning on being proficient in all 3 classes you should hyperfocus your parts to your troops types.

sure but even skill damage has a limit, especially since you said you are mainly infantry. our skill damage is already lacking so an additional 2% isnt nearly as influential for the price as what, say, the HP parts would net you for survivability

Parts on backpack will yield more damage than atk parts for infantry. Infantry lacks skill dmg bonus % on heroes, so rope would be very instrumental (basically better multiplier for infantry than for ranged), pretty much the same with plain dmg bonus since only Miyamoto adds inf dmg.

As for damage reduction, depends on where you are with other bonuses like VIP, skins, tech, alliance tech, etc., dmg red part can be better than 2x HP, but as infantry main I would rather advice against dmg red/hp parts. I get it that you scale good with HP and dmg red interms of quality of the report when fighting 1x1, but in normal fights infantry get focused last, so you have this defensive layer already:)

ALSO, its better due to type of parts, like upgrading infantry parts will eat same parts type.

That's a great point. While focusing on existing strengths, it's also good to create infantry into more of a threat by dealing more damage, since it's tanky already. I do believe skill damage is far more effective than anything else...

it is. especially with the update process as well (since they have a weird process of dealing with updates that even I as a developer scratch my head). always lags out my 5 farms as well with any updates (mainly the second time you load it after an update is when they actually remove the last version files through iteration.... not mass removal). but the launcher is cumbersome and pointless except for updates. but if you update always update your computers copy then load your farms on sandbox. will save you a lot of time.

this new garrison still seems better on the field then garrison. i dont know if I will go for it.

When it comes to parts you want to upgrade squad dmg and squad dmg red parts even if they seem expensive, followed by skill dmg and hp followed by the rest

I would think hero skill damage has more of an affect during a battle than troops do. I've mostly seen players focus on backpack parts, but more specifically rope for skill dmg

There are 3 types of damage a squad can do
Skill damage - from heros
Basic attacks - when targeting something
Counter dmg - when something targets you

If you upgrade squad dmg it will improve the damage of the 3 attacks, this is the reason why its valuable buff
